It depends when you judge by. The first public KSP release was in 2011, the Despicable Me film came out a year earlier. However, the lead developer of the game, Harvestr, had been playing with Kerbals considerably earlier than 2010 (of course, for all I know, the producer of that film was playing with their minions at about the same time).
