Updating the way that docking ports attach during construction.

Recommended Posts

So, docking ports are great, and really, we wouldn't be able to get through more complex missions without them. But when it comes to attaching them, there are a few problems.

1. In most construction, they do not "snap to" the center of the part, even when this option is checked.

2. Docking ports to not "snap to" the center of other docking ports, and most times, will not properly line up for docking in construction!

Can someone at Squad please work on this problem? Thanks!

There are some shenanigans about snap-to and various orientations (which have gotten worse in 0.90 in some ways) but uh, isn't there a node there in that bay? Hold ALT to attach the port to a node.

Looks lined up to me - except that you've connected the wrong node of the second docking port to the original.

When SQUAD introduced Cargo Bays in KSP 0.90, the bay door meshes were given the Unity tag of NoAttach, which prevents surface attachment of other parts onto the doors themselves.

I used this same feature in my FusTek Station Parts mod, which allows docking ports to snap to the center of the bay insides without slipping around:

So yeah, a relatively easy fix.
