  1. Alright, no KSC science. That will just delay my start though. At this point I play on hardest difficulty... minus hardcore perma-death mode so that I'm trying to do multi-contract missions to make them cost effective. I could forego research labs but I think having purposeful stations add character to my Space Program. I haven't used RemoteTech and for flavor I add a pilot to every mission.
  2. It's HERE!!! I started playing KSP over a year ago and have been through 3 fresh start Careers. With the release of 1.1 I want to start again with all the new bells and whistles. However, I want to embark on as unique an experience as possible with mods. With the exception of MechJeb and Engineer Redux I have not done much with part or career mods. I am looking for some ideas to what would give me a completely new gameplay. In the past I have maxed out the tech tree just after landing and returning from Duna and TBH that's where the gameplay tapers off for me; when I feel a lack of "progress" towards some research goal. I have my eye on KSP Interstellar but would like some feedback before jumping in; does it enhance the game? should I max out the stock career before adding it? I'd like to hear ideas from people before I embark on yet another awesome journey into space!
  3. The end solution for me was to restart my campaign. It gave me a chance to start over with more challenging difficulty. After that the problem never happened. I am going to bet that it had something to do with a corruption in the persistence file. The only thing that I think that could have caused it out of the ordinary was I went in and edited a single ship at one point though it was well before the problem started.
  4. I learned that MechJeb2 is NOT the most efficient way to land... just the laziest. I had 208 Dv left in a probe lander after 2 trips to Minimus surface and back with science data. Mechjeb would run it out of fuel and crash still at over 100 m/s. So it switched the controls to manual and brought it down on fumes at 8 m/s to stay and complete "Science Data from..." missions long into the future.
  5. I do not believe it is heat related because I have had that happen before to the structural fuselage pieces and just stopped using them. I do not have Module Manager installed. I have a Steam install and the problem did not happen immediately after the .4 update. And ...... interface, quit hijacking and make your own thread. Again, I don't think we have the same thermal problem.
  6. I've done troubleshooting over the last few days including: -Removing all Mods (except Kerbal Engineer because I have the chips on every vehicle and I lose 90% of my fleet) -Uninstalling, reinstalling the game. -Rebooting my computer (I know that seems obvious) which will actually fix the problem for about an hour until it returns. I have not yet done a clean wipe because that would be the end of the game for me with all the work I have put into my current. I'd still like to know how this is happening and surprised that I can find no one else with the same issue.
  7. I've experienced the thermal glitch as well. That problem will show up in the Flight log as "overheat" not "structural failure." And was it happening to *every* ship after a certain point or just one?
  8. When I try to Time Warp ANY ship it explodes! I've Googled for anyone else having this problem and while others randomly have a ship explode I've come across a total catastrophe. After playing for many hours/days into my current game tonight when I switched ships and engaged Time Warp it exploded. I loaded my save, tried again, same result. I loaded my save, switched to another ship, it also exploded. Restarting the game fixes the problem but after doing some work one one and switching to the next it will explode. It is happening for every ship; even ones that have been stable and in operation for nearly a game year. It only started today and I have had the same mods installed for over a week; no new changes to my game I can roll back. I've recorded a video to demonstrate what's happening. The Flight Results Log reports the failure as every component experiencing a "Structural Failure" I've logged about 480 hours into my current Career game (according to Steam) and now my Interplanetary Empire is in great peril!
  9. The same thing happened to me when I was trying to assemble a modular interplanetary ship in orbit. Your design and use of parts (docking ports on structural fuselages) is what I was going for as well. It happened when I switched to the other vehicle too. I heard the explosion and saw in the distance my connecting section breaking up. I was actually kind of amused in a roleplaying sense that part of my planned ship and mission (took almost a RL week before I even launched the parts) experienced a catastrophic failure. Thinking I had gotten hit by debris or something I reloaded my quicksave and then immediately after the game finished loading the vehicle exploded. Thus I am left to conclude this is a physics engine bug. This is my original design: I chewed out my Kerbal engineers at the VAB for using such structurally weak parts. We went back and resigned the whole ship. Instead of using the docking ports for planned modular, replaceable drive sections I went for a single drive section connected more securely on a more structurally sound Rockomax tank which gave us the idea of using the tank as a fuel reserve for the main NERV engines and to allow refueling the attached lander for multiple Mun and Minimus landings. We increased the delta V for the whole ship to compensate and the whole project topped over 600,000. In the end this change of fate that expanded the mission parameters yielded a 6000+ Dv ship that gave a happy tour to 6 Kerbal Tourists, achieved 3 Mun landings, 2 Minimus landings, and brought back 3100 science after being out in space 94 days. Now it sits stably in LKO until Duna comes in window. Bottom line is one of the reasons I love this game is trial and error through iterations. So my suggestion is to rethink your design with different parts and see the bug as a feature
