  1. Wow, really looking forward to the update. Thank you to the devs and testers.
  2. Hi all, Here is my submission to the challenge. - Which game versions did you use? 1.0.5- What mods did you use, if any? Kerbal Engineer, Precise Node, Planetshine- How many Kerbals are on the mission? Five (one for each moon)- How many launches was needed to start your mission from Kerbin? Three- How much did your mission cost? $740,260- Did you needed a refueling mission? No- Did you bring additional stuff like satellites, rovers, etc? No- Share the delta-V information too, if you tracked it! This was my planning sheet, based on these maps:https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalAcademy/comments/1qu5jv/deltav_charts/. I ended up with too much fuel at end of the mission because I had LF tanks for the nuke, but also LF/OX tanks to refuel the lander. I brought enough LF/OX to refuel the lander completely after each moon, but I didn't realize that Bop and Pol would take almost no fuel. I also was not planning to have fuel left in the transfer stage, but I did so I put that in the main ship as well during the mission. I used the procedural test weights mod and lots of subassemblies while designing my ships, so that KER would give accurate deltaV info. I have some aesthetic clipping on my craft...I have angled nosecones clipped into a fuel tank to give a smooth appearance. I thought it would be fine since the nosecones do not have any fuel in them, and the same could be accomplished with normal struts. I do not have any fuel tanks clipped into other fuel tanks.
  3. Very cool mission, I liked the mothership design with all the scaffolding.
  4. I love the design of the main ship. Edit: Reminds me of this: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Kronos-1-in-Low-Earth-Orbit-582647310
  5. Hi all. I accept the challenge and plan to fly it soon and post video. I have had one failed attempt already, and I am just saying this to warn everyone... If you are planning on aerobraking, test out your ship's balance at Kerbin first! My vehicle was not balanced properly and flipped into a tumble whilst aerobraking that no amount of f9 could rectify.
  6. Thanks Tavert - I have tried the elliptical way and it seems to work alright. It seems like a good compromise.
  7. This is the only mod I use - thanks so much for working on it. I don't know how I would play without it.
  8. Hi everyone, I like to do "Apollo style" missions where I bring a big ship docked with a lander. If I get to a planet and do my capture burn high up, only the lightweight lander needs to go up and down that gravity gradient while the main ship orbits far away. However this method does not take advantage of the Oberth effect for the capture burn. Also that puts alot of burden on the lander to carry enough fuel to get back to the main ship. On the other hand, If I do the capture really low down, I get the Oberth effect, but I also need to expend fuel hauling the entire heavy main ship back up the slope to escape when it's time to go home. For atmospheres, I am guessing aerobraking is the most efficient, even thought you will need to raise that periapse to escape again? Tips and advice? Thanks!
