well, look here, this is REALLY the origins of KSP -- a hand drawing by HarvesteR (back then "the shadow") depicting the earliest reckless attempts of a pack of teenagers playing with fireworks!

KSP_LOG001.jpg

These craft were constructed out of whatever could be found at the kitchen of our grandparents farm house, the engines were Estes model rockets in the first few tests. When those ran out (surplus from a shuttle kit which was promptly destroyed by our erstwhile ineptitude), more common bottle rockets from a local novelties shop became the main source for propulsion - it took a few kerbals before the notion to remove the explosive end at the tip of those things came to mind

The first two tests still used the same launch pad that came with that ill-fated shuttle kit - that was no longer a feature in later missions, as the damaged plastic parts from Kerbal I did not survive long enough to accommodate launches after Kerbal II

Note that back then, the terminology was different in that a pilot of our craft ('ably' fashioned out of crumpled tin foil) was called a "Kerbo", originating "Kerbal" as an adjective meaning "of Kerbo-related nature" - Subsequent history gradually phased out the ancient form and replaced "Kerbal" for the name of the species as well.

"Allumminnia", as seen noted on some of the logged entries, is probably an archaic word for perhaps the Mün, but some kerbal historians suggest it more likely would have been Minmus. This theory is contested by claims that such name has its roots in a reference to "alluminum paper", (the local name given to tin foil in Brazil), proposing a reference to such like a surface being found at said unconquered destination, thus favouring the Mün as a candidate. - That name has since fallen to disuse and more lately may be considered rude among kerbal historians and tin foil enthusiasts.

Log entries where the pilot line reads "n/a" should be better read as "not accountable", and thus may not imply these craft were unmanned - rather that nobody thought to actually write down the names of them brave 'nauts before they fatefully became unable to account for themselves, being dead and all...

HarvesteR will attest that this is indeed his own hand drawing (notice the similarity to the sketches found on the credits ingame). He will dispute me, no doubt, that it was really I who first came up with the whole idea for a tin-foil pilot and calling it a "Kerbo" in the first place. - Did I mention we share the same mother?

invariantly, albeit appearing needless to say, since we've all grown knowledgeable of the many perils of kerbal spacefare, it fits to state:

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!

cheers!

Actually that would be more like -0.1.  0.0 was a small prototype where a rocket made out of physical joints launched up and underwent Rapid Unplanned Dissasembly. It was hard-coded to do this, but it looked fun enough for HarvesteR to continue.

If the description was accurate, it would be 0.0.12 as it describes 12 launches of kerbals.

Wow, I just played 0.13. I can't even get to orbit with a ship that was designed for the Mun :D

No lag, though.

I got the game when it was at version 0.23.5. I wish that there was a way to play 0.14 or 0.15 if you bought the game off Steam or the KSP site.

Ah...the nostalgia...the feeling of joy and accomplishment when I did my first mun landing (however, no Kerbal stepped onto the Mun because there were no EVA's at that time)...it was the time when Kerbonauts were real men and not some cloned randomly named silver suit-wearing pussies (that's how Jeb would call generic kerbals now).

This is awesome. I am going to download them all and post here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9S8km6a08YmcFNFdFRCajJkb3c. Please let me know if you get more versions - I will be adding them there as well.

Will there be versions after 0.13.3 available for people who bought the game from the the website?

Basically what it says in this tweet I made.

+1. I've started making copies of the old versions on my own, but I only have 1.1.3 so far. Since they are commercial, I won't be sharing them widely. Does anyone know how regularly do KSP versions get released? I'd like to set up a reminder to download new versions regularly.

Remember, only versions 0.13.3 and older, and the 0.18.3 and 1.0.0 demos are free to redistribute, all the others are for the personal use of players who have bought a copy of KSP.

In the future, people running version 10.5.6 of KSP will look at this and laugh their heads off. What is old for us will become ancient as we become the old ones.

There will be a KSP version called Kerbal 10 - The Ultimate version.

I bet this game will be in development for 30 years like those windows computers.

Will it be preceded by KSP Vista that breaks everything and a KSP 8 optimised for the touch screens used by 0.0014% of the user base?

Yes indeed:D:D with Priced DLCs for mouse, excel, Female kerbals, stock craft and the Kerbol system at $1 small loan.

I hope this project isn't taken over by companies worse than MS (like EA) who will turn everything into poop like they did with SPORE and DLC price upped to £20 - ¥100 small loans.

I started in the 0.18.3 demo, and 0.21 was the first "full" version I got. The game has really changed, with the implementation of career mode, reentry damage, new aerodynamics, and new designs for the parts. Maybe I can finally try out Damned Robotics since I never got the chance to in the later versions.

0.8.x (don't know exactly) was my first version I believe... Oh the memories. Oh the kraken(s).

I stumbled upon it shortly after the initial release. I believe there wasn't even a Mun. And every new version was a complete wipe. Wasn't so bad at the beginning but after they introduced docking in 0.18 it got a bit annoying because then you could actually build things to last :P

They should make all the old versions (before 1.0) cost 1-10 dollars each and put them on the website. They could make a lot of money out of this.
