The "Brake" Key

Recommended Posts

While I can understand your problem with the key not locking the brake state, I also want the easy short time brake pulses while holding the key.

I see the current setup more like a car, where the key is the brake peddal and the buttonclick is the parking brake.

What we actually need is not to change the behaviour of the current braking key, but to add a second braking key that toggles the parking brake.

My experience is that the current behavior is better for rovers, whereas I would prefer a toggle for planes. It could be as simple as "B" to hold brakes, "Alt-B" to toggle them, i. e. two different key commands linked to the same action group to produce two different behaviors from the same set of parts.

At some point in the past, "b" was a trigger, and "B" (as in shift-b) was meant to be a toggle. "B" only ever worked on windows though (or so I've been told), and instead of fixing it properly, it's been removed entirely; the input system can't distinguish if shift or capslock is on anymore as far as I can tell.

The problem is you have to hold B to brake. But then you have to catch the mouse and click the small GUI button to hold it. Usually you are driving or landing a plane a car and it's quite perilous...

Tapping twice to get a small brake is much easier than holding the button for a long brake.

This really seems like a BUG

It is, but when localisation makes more customers and money, what are you gonna do?

It's a rare innovative and pretty good game in the end, so I can't complain too loudly.
