    <h4>KSP Dev Team Updates</h4>
    <ul>

    <li><b>Felipe (Harvester)</b>: Worked through at least half a hundred bugs this week. Also wrote a new procedural terrain algorithm to generate craters. Check out the <a href="http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/entry.php/667-Procedural-Craters" target="_blank">dev blog post</a> about it.</li>

    <li><b>Chad (C7)</b>: Spent the week haunted by a mysterious ghost designer. Adjusted a lot of the space center content and polished up the assets a bit. After that I spent the rest of my time on fixing bugs that we've found during testing. Thanks to the feedback of the testing team, I've rewritten parts of the sas to make it even more user friendly. I'm working on testing those changes now.</li>

    <li><b>Jim (Romfarer)</b>:I've been fixing bugs this week. On the crew management GUI's and "surprisingly" also on the Knowledge Base which got somewhat corrupted due to changes in the back-end. Seeing how nobody has mentioned that, you'll just have to take my word for it: The new backend that made trouble for the KB is amazing in all other ways.</li>

    <li><b>Artyom (Bac9)</b>: Got stuck for a week with an ancient typewriter in place of a proper PC, so I haven't had the chance to make new content (crunched ahead of schedule on the previous week to compensate for that). Instead, this week I have mostly performed the role of some evil designer ghost, studying internal screenshots and haunting poor teammates about improperly configured light sources, improvements to textures, lightmaps and hangar floors. Don't worry, I'll get back to my beloved 3d modeling in the next few days. </li>

    <li><b>Alex (aLeXmOrA)</b>: REDACTED: CLASSIFIED WEBDEV STUFF 2: WEBDEVELATION 3D</li>

    <li><b>Daniel (DanRosas)</b>: Finished those 2d assets I started last week. I'm pretty sure you'll meet them soon enough. Getting to adjust color, add small details and finish rendering that thing I've been animating since this weekly reports started. Man, time sure goes fast... </li>

    <li><b>Rob (N3X15)</b>: Redesigned a good portion of the database schema halfway through implementation. Sleep does strange things to one's mind, I think I'm going to lay off of it for a bit. Distractions outside of work this week made things a little difficult to keep up with my schedule (dead computers, birthday parties for elders, puppy chewing cables, etc). Still negotiating TokuDB install on the forum server, it isn't liking it one bit. Dog gate installed, though, so fewer distractions to deal with.</li>

    <li><b>Mike (Mu)</b>: Been bugfixing, crafted some new planetary mods and reworked some planets.</li>

    </ul>

    <h3>KSP Mod Spotlight</h3>
    <p>We all knew it was only a matter of time before another procedural part was added by the mod community. This time mod creator 'e-dog' has hit a grand slam with procedural fairings. A word of caution as of the posting of this weekly Procedural Fairings are not compatible with FAR, however, the creator is planning to improve is compatibility. This being said the mod does work with FAR but you may find it slightly unstable.</p>

    <p>Space is big, it's so big you wouldn't believe how big it really is. Because of this you may find yourself sometimes wondering the age old question 'So where do I go?' when it comes to planning your next mission, with all the different landscapes (and starscapes) it's easy to forget where your favourite crater on the Mun is, well forget no more fellow Kerbonaut help is at hand!</p>

    <p>A user by the name of saik0 has created these incredibly nifty maps of ALL the celestial bodies within the Kerbol system making planning your journeys a little easier. You can find the maps at <a title="Kerbal Maps" href="http://www.kerbalmaps.com" target="_blank">Kerbal Maps</a>.</p>

    <p>Last week I asked for fan submissions in the form of screenshots, videos and other fan works. You guys certainly did not disappoint, however, that does mean I could not get you all featured. Keep up the great work everybody and keep the submissions coming! Do you have a fan work, screenshot collection, video or animation you would like to have seen in the KSP weekly? Send me 'xPDxTV' a private message with a link to your fanwork either to here on the forums, YouTube, imgur or whatever hosting platform works best for you, although I prefer the above mentioned. No direct download links will be opened. All fanworks must be viewable without a download. I'd like to thank you all for stopping by and as always I'll see you next time, later guys and gals!</p>

    <ul><b>KSP Dev Team</b>

    <li><b>Felipe (HarvesteR)</b>: Rounding out what are hopefully last details after a mad week of integrating things from everyone.</li>

    <li><b>Chad (C7)</b>: Integrated all the things! Added mission flags to the VAB / SPH backdrops. Made lots of changes to the balance and tuning of the SAS controllers. Spent the rest of my time testing the game and fixing bugs.</li>

    <li><b>Mike (Mu)</b>: Finished implementing the whole new scene thing and the new buildings. I'm currently writing some more interesting planetary noise methods to spice up some planets.</li>

    <li><b>Artyom (Bac9)</b>: Polished up the new buildings and completely overhauled the editor scenes for the Space Plane Hangar and the VAB. All of the buildings are ready for testing and finishing now. </li>

    <li><b>Alex (aLeXmOrA)</b>: REDACTED: CLASSIFIED WEB DEV STUFF</li>

    <li><b>Daniel (DanRosas)</b>: I'm going to start some 2D assets. And animating, animating, animating... </li>

    <li><b>Rob (N3X15)</b>: Discovered that CentOS 6+WHM doesn't like compiling anything, but managed to get the forums/spaceport server ready for the move over to TokuDB. Still have to schedule it. Fixed a bunch of problems with the new status page. Upgraded my testing server from a Pentium 4 to dual quad xeons, ordered the wrong rails while I was at it.</li>

    <li> Here is a sneak peak at what animator <b>DanRosas</b> has been hard at work on! That jumpsuit inspired by real space programs looks spot on!

    <p>It's quite obvious that the B9 Aerospace mod pack has quickly become one of the most popular packs of all time! With its sleek and futuristic design it's hard NOT to love it! It's not often that a single mod pack spawns an entire thread dedicated to craft created out of its own parts, and when they do they are nowhere near as impressive as <a href="http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/33503-Show-off-your-B9-Designs" target="_blank">THIS</a>. If you're new to B9 and need some inspiration the this thread is definitely for you, and if you have something awesome you have created this is the best place to show it off.</p>

    <li><b>Felipe (HarvesteR)</b>: Spent the last 4-5 days setting up the inner workings of the new crew management system. The game finally handles crew in a way that makes sense!</li></br>

    <li><b>Chad (C7)</b>: Completed working on the SAS logic. Finally got it to a place I’m happy with. Spent the weekend working on the new Tracking Station building. Working on finishing up loose ends from the transition to the new SAS and Reaction Wheel systems right now.</li></br>

    <li><b>Mike (Mu)</b>: I’ve been implementing Artyom’s new buildings and completing the move over to using the new scene setup systems.</li></br>

    <li><b>Jim (Romfarer)</b>: Finished the new launchpad/runway dialogs and the crew management gui’s.</li></br>

    <li><b>Artyom (Bac9)</b>: Worked on the new space plane hangar. A highlight of that one would be the control tower. SPH building isn’t just a hangar, it has a warehouse, administrative block and all the other appropriate clutter, - but now, most importantly, it has a pretty fancy control tower, fitting for an airport. Why was that small island airport enjoying the luxury of having a control tower while we are forced to call VAB "the tower" in our glorious space center? Well, no more: buzzing can now be performed around more appropriate building! In other news, helped with the new tracking center, finalized the VAB & crew center building, and played with improved roads a bit.</li></br>

    <li><b>Alex (aLeXmOrA)</b>: REDACTED: SECRET WEBDEV PROJECT</li></br>

    <li><b>Daniel (DanRosas)</b>: I’ve been animating for the past few days since last week’s Weekly.</li></br>

    <li><b>Rob (N3X15)</b>: Setting up a network status page we “borrowed†from an open source project so I’m not spamming up the devblog with server fire reports, etc. Most of the work involved is rewriting templates from Smarty to Savant, fixing shoddy Javascript, graphic design, and a few other things. Should be up soon. Another project is setting up bandwidth monitoring on the servers so we can identify problematic designs. Also reorganizing my home office so it’s no longer a dorm-y nightmare, setting up new testing server (including ordering speciality screws, which was an unexpected nightmare), and continuing to fix Spaceport. Considering doing a wiki software update, as well.</li></p></br>

Sadly that picture could only be obtained after said kerbal had digitally added nonsensical gas clumps to the sky that just look weird.

    <p>Developement updates have been slow over the last 2 weeks, however, I've heard your voices and we at the KSP Media Group have pulled every possible source to get you the following development information. I wasn't happy bottom feeding information so I took an initiative and contacted Maxmaps. With his help pushing the idea we were able to create a document in which every developer contributed what they worked on for the week. I encourage you to read the Editor's Notes at the end of this article which will help explain the circumstances around information.</p>

    <h3>Developement Updates</h3>
    <p><ul><b>KSP Dev Team</b></p>

    <li><b>Felipe (HarvesteR)</b>: Set up progress-tracking system, also figured out how to set up vessel recovery with the new scene flow.</li></br>

    <li><b>Chad (C7)</b>: I’ve been working on new SAS / ASAS behavior for the last week. We’re aiming to reduce or eliminate the oscillations that happen in the current system. We’re also removing the automatic torque from command pods and replacing it with a reaction wheel system. The new reaction wheels will actually require power to operate.</li></br>

    <li><b>Mike (Mu)</b>: I’ve been implementing a whole new way of maintaining the solar system that makes the game persistent across all scenes. There is real game scenery, time-progression and a new camera system in the Space Centre. Tuned up the scene startup for all scenes, the transition from VAB to pad is now rather slick. Also crafted a number of new shaders for Artyom to work his magic with and made some tweaks to the planetary normal mapping shader.</li></br>

    <li><b>Jim (Romfarer)</b>: Working on a new vessel launch dialog to go in the space center. You will be able to assign crew members to the vessel from here.</li></br>

    <li><b>Artyom (Bac9)</b>: Reworking the space center buildings, which is a pretty refreshing stuff after making a hundred of spaceplane parts. Just finished a variety of prop sets for those new buildings. It's pretty similar to creating actual craft parts, dozens of them, except this time those are pieces that can be used to spice up architecture: HVAC systems, crates, lights, cute little service vehicles, doors, windows and so on. With those done, you can save massive amount of memory and time, getting nice crisp details on surfaces stretching hundreds of meters.</li></br>

    <li><b>Alex (aLeXmOrA)</b>: Added Sketchfab plugin to KSP Forums site and worked on CLASSIFIED INFORMATION</li></br>

    <li><b>Daniel (DanRosas)</b>: Made some new kinds of Kerbal, one of them is the kerbal recruit that will be used in Romfarer’s UI (will do a web blog post eventually, probably after 0.21 with more details). Making one big animation containing all the Kerbal Shorts.</li></br>

    <li><b>Rob (N3X15)</b>: I’m working on database schema designs for Kerbal Spaceport 2.0 (more on this later), also trying to play around with TokuDB for MariaDB on a testing server to see if it can speed up the spaceport/forums server a bit during the weekends. Didn’t get too far due to network problems on my end and buildkit issues (probably caused by trying to compile a 64-bit app on a 32-bit system). Trying again on an 64-bit TF2 server I host that also hosts a few databases, although I won’t be able to properly stress-test it. Have to reinstall that server, first, though. Oh yeah, also the usual security stuff on the current edition of spaceport. Fun.</li></p></br>

    <p>I wanted to take a moment and talk about why the KSP Weekly gets developement information some weeks while others do not. It's been the topic of some heated discussion amongst the community and I wanted to address it personally. Unlike Damion Rayne, who wrote the KSP Weekly before myself, he was indeed a community manager on Squad and as such had access to developer information all the time. I, like you, am simply a member of the community and do not have such privileges. Being part of the KSP Media Group does have advantages and allows me access to tidbits of information and persona, but I simply cannot work miracles. I do my best to bring you the information you want, but I can only give you what I receive. I would like to thank everyone for their support of the KSP weekly and hope that I can do more for you in the future by digging up the information you want to read about!</p>

    Modders and 3D Artists may find themselves in a bit of a tight spot trying to show off the awesomeness of their creations via simple, static screenshots.

    Having to resort to multiple angle shots and leaving putting the complete picture together to the watcher’s mind feels so last decade, which is why Squad has partnered up with Sketchfab to bring their amazing web based 3D modelviewer to our forums.

    Seeing models in full 3D is as easy as clicking the Sketchfab icon on a forum post, and if you want to upload your own, you only need to follow these quick and easy steps.

    1) Make an account at sketchfab.com
    2) Upload your 3D model to their website, which will give you a URL like https://sketchfab.com/show/cLeH1Z12bHgdkshoSWcLh7kWKiP
    3) Embed it on the forums with bbcode using the URL’s code like this [sketchfab ]cLeH1Z12bHgdkshoSWcLh7kWKiP[/sketchfab]

    And just like that, everyone can get an accurate view at your work!

    Start uploading and sharing your creations today!

    Hi again,

    I've realized there's something that could be a possible source of confusion. Who exactly is currently part of the KSP dev tem? The Credits shows a good number of people who aren't part of the team anymore, so I decided to write up a short post about the dev team and who's actually part of it these days:

    The KSP Dev Team, as of today:

    Working on the game itself:

    Myself (HarvesteR): A brief search shows that I am in fact, still here (as Full-time lead developer).
    Chad (C7): Full time technical artist.
    Mike (Mu): Full time tools & game developer.
    Jim (Romfarer): Part-time UI Developer.
    Artyom (Bac9): Part-time Content Designer, working during weekends and in his spare time.

    Working on other KSP-related things:

    Alex (aLeXmOrA): Full time web developer.
    Daniel (DanRosas): Full time animator, going back and forth between doing game content and promotional videos.
    Rob (N3X15): Intern web developer.
    Marco: Full time technical support.
    Miguel (Maxmaps): Full time PR Manager.
    James (Skunky): Full time Community Manager.

    Managing a dozen projects at the same time (of which KSP is but one):

    Adrian: Executive Producer.
    Ezequiel: Executive Producer.

    New to the team (say hello):

    Jesus: Full time production manager.

    Freelance:

    Victor: Soundtrack composer.
    Edu: Sound Effects composer.

    On Leave:

    Claira (ClairaLyrae): Part-time Content Designer, currently on leave for classes.
    Jeff (NovaSilisko): Intern Content Designer, currently on leave.

    No longer part of the team:

    Anthony (Damion Rayne): Community manager until April.
    Jacobo: Content Designer until early this year.
    Ivan: Did some content for KSP once, still works at Squad on other projects.
    Juan Carlos: Did some content for KSP once. No longer at Squad for a while now.

    As you can see, the credits can make it seem like we're a much larger team than we really are. Regardless though, I just wanted to reassure everyone with this post that despite us being only a few, we are all working as hard as we possibly can, to make sure KSP becomes the game we want it to be.

    Cheers

    <p>In a recent post that can be seen on <a href="http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/entry.php/550-Rethinking-the-way-flights-end">Harvester's Dev Blag</a> the way flights are handled, rather, more specifically the way they are being ended is undergoing an overhaul. The reason for this and a quote taken from the blog states; "The old system was a placeholder. We added it back in 0.14, not because there was a very good idea for it, but because we needed to have something back then, and that's what we ended up with."
    As seen in the screenshot down below it seems relatively straightforward when you lay it down, however, i realise this will be an interesting design challenge. What excited me most about this screenshot was the hinting at the possibility of adding 'difficulty' by disallowing the relaunch of vessels. For more information head on over to <a href="http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/entry.php/550-Rethinking-the-way-flights-end">Harvester's Dev Blag</a>.</br>

    <p>So an idea sprouted from videos created by myself and White Owl. We made similar videos unbenounced to the other and they were posted mere hours apart after weeks of planning and days of recording. What this turned into was an official space race. The Solar Gamer joined in later that day after expressing interest. This isn't any old space race, but a carefully planned and regulated series in which each person is allowed to create their videos on their own time and work freely, however, at set points there will be technological advances and government interventions to balance the series in order to keep it both a close race, and entertaining for the viewers. There are several requirements and this is a more hard mode style setup. This space race requires FAR, Deadly Reentry and Mission Controller. Tune into everyones perspective as not one video will be the same. Here is a taste of what is to come! Unfortunetly <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/rslayer9">Ryan the Solar Gamer's</a> video was not ready when the article was written so check out his channel and keep an eye out for it.</p>

    Hi again,

    So, here we go again. We are now starting work on the 0.21 update to KSP, so I'm writing this post to let everyone know what you can expect on the next big update to the game.

    Keep in mind that the following items are our proposed goals only, and as we all know, plans can and often do change. This means these are neither promises nor commitments, they're just the things we are going to be working on, as of this writing.

    As most of you already know, 0.21 is an important update for us, because it's the first proper update primarily focused on Career Mode, the least developed area of the game at the moment. Needless to say, we are all very excited about what's coming.

    So without further ado, here are our main goals for the next update:

    * Revised Flight-End scene flow.
    In preparation for Career gameplay, we are rethinking the way flights are ended. Gone is the 'End Flight' button in the Pause Menu, cause of many a tale of accidental space station deletion. Now, you'll either get to return to the Space Center (as before), or when applicable, Revert to an earlier state (to launch or to the editors). More information on this here.

    * Player Progress Tracking System
    Another step forward into Career Mode, this is an internal game system that will be used to track players as they progress towards advancing Kerbalkind to being a proper space-faring civilization. This is a core system, so don't expect much in terms of new content from this... It will pave the way towards some very cool new features down the road though.

    * Overhauled Space Center Scenery
    Time to go over the most underdeveloped part of the game. Gone will be the placeholder terrain, and in comes proper scenery for the space center. And because it's the same terrain as in flight, we don't need to reload it when going for a launch. This should cut down transition times from KSC to flight quite a lot.

    * The Astronaut Complex Facility
    Another huge feature in the making, the Astronaut Complex is a new building at the Space Center, that gives you an overview of all your available <s>victims</s> brave explorers, and lets you recruit new ones from a list of applicants.

    * Crew Management
    Along with the Astronaut Complex, this adds the ability to select the crew for a vessel before launch (from the launch sites or from the editors). Pick from the list of available crewmembers, and assign them to any (yes, any) part on the vessel.

    * Overhauled Space Center Facilities.
    We're also re-doing the VAB and SPH models, to bring them up to par with the facilites we already did on the previous updates.

    * More Upgrades to Parts and Part Modules.
    Continuing our work with moving all our parts to the new Modules system we implemented in 0.18, this update will feature yet more parts completely re-coded to the new system, allowing for many new possibilities from both stock and mod parts.

    These are our highlights for the update. Of course, there'll also be the usual batch of tweaks and bugfixes.

    Again, please do keep in mind none of these items imply a commitment from our part, and any or all could be delayed or modified at any time, as necessity demands. And as always, please refrain from asking about release dates.

    Stay tuned for more news and details about these and other topics on our dev blogs.

    Cheers

    Hello once more!

    Just to let everyone know, we've now released the 0.20.2 Patch for KSP.

    This patch is a quick hotfix, to deal with two critical issues that were left standing after the previous revision:

    Bug Fixes and Tweaks:

    Fixed the mouse wheel input issue on Linux. (should work like it did on 0.19) Fixed the excessive memory usage loading png and jpeg textures.

    Our thanks to Linux players Epinull and Mat Banks, who helped us figure out a way around the mousewheel bug.

    Mind that the mouse wheel problem is actually a bug in Unity, not in KSP. This means our solution for it is only a workaround, and isn't a 100% fix. There's still some weirdness around scrolling lists in dialogs, but that's minor in comparison to not being able to use it at all. For most critical cases, like zooming, scrolling the VAB view up and down, or scrolling the staging stack, the scroll wheel now works as intended. It should hold well enough until a fix from Unity comes along.

    As always, you can get the latest version from our KSPStore, or if you're on Steam, you should be updated automatically.

    Happy Launchings!

    Cheers
