I think I gave up when the booster in the middle was throwing me off (i put a red dot). I guess I forgot to add 6 or something... added a few struts, but left the booster, I was able to get withing 880k of the moon. Not bad lol. It gets roughly 6 of those S3s out of kerbin's soi. No idea why there is a lander of some sort at the top. Also just noticed that I was launching the rocket at night... so many mysteries!

I tried these orbits but i ended up needing to be higher. I guess you just make your orbit point to the N on the nav ball? I was trying to make a ship to launch all the science instruments I have into space (lab, 2 barometer, 2 thermometer, 2 goo, and materials bay). I don't have any mods yet except for mechjeb The 3 boosters seem to be unnecessary \ don't help... but it makes going into orbit (i skip kerbin's orbit) a lot easier. My orbit below might be a little weird, almost hit the moon on my way up. Below is the orbit Above is the ship in orbit, and below is the setup I used. the outside runs out of fuel, then the center rocket, then the middle circle http://s24.postimg.org/p53uy8g43/dv_3.png Still searching for that magic 15k+ deltaV rocket. I play very casually though, so haven't done much math \ tinkering. You can make this setup with more FPS if you do with out the boosters, and maybe add another ring of fuel and mainsails? Haven't checked yet The ship file is below... forgot to put struts on the top, won;t work with mechjeb when it moves around so much. Then again mechjeb managed to rip one of the rockets off my ship in the 20 seconds i left the room lol

trying to test this right now. seeing if it can last through rentry UPDATE: The ship was able to enter kerbin at 1600m/s with out the use fuel!

I would like to get back to eve orbit to refuel and return to kerbin. Not sure if that is going to work out lol. Sent another ship using the transfer windows, it is a bit more efficient but still going to the planet with a ton of speed. Might be because i am not orbiting kerbin first? I'll send up another ship with some kerbins, put a heat shield and see how it goes.

that is the ship i used, but i am thinking it was my transfer window, must have been going to fast trying to intercept the planet. Got some fuel out there anyway lol. I'll try it again using that link and see how much fuel it save me.

I have seen this in a lot of posts but even simple small ships docked together are very unstable. Trying to get to eve, even refueled a small ship, but my orbital speed is always too high and i explode when entering the atmosphere. How can i construct a ship in orbit with enough delta v ?

This is true but I want the career mode elements, just this part is very boring. What do i need to be able to target him? Also skipped this mission when it was just science, it is just too hard to dock with things in orbit with out mechjeb Turns out I can just go straight for the moon, used large rocket parts (the silver containers) and the 2nd large boosters you get. Just kind of gave it fuel to keep it slow and the mun ran into my ship. With out cheating, i think i can make it back but either way it could be more efficient with a little effort.

lol to get to mun? select infinited fuel, go straight up, slow down near moon, bam more tech less boring!!!! might need mur money though

98600 cash and awful facilities like level 2 for most. sucks they put in missions like the moon when you can not get to them unless you grind out some boring stuff

I can not seem to pick up that kerbin from orbit and i can not get to the moon at all. Did they take out the ability to target things and setup flights by clicking your orbit? Is there someway to level my pilot? I am lost in the beta
