That's better option but it need to be pressurised (for your lungs) and it becomes a light spacesuit, so not much saving. No, I was thinking in the typical life jacket, that you pull a string and it inflates, but instead of inflating it compresses creating the counter-presure needed for not breaking your own lungs, and for breathing. That I was trying to say when I said a "corset". With that and a helmet you can breath, but the question it's how much time can your skin stand the vacuum? And a more ugly question, can your sphincters hold against the vacuum?

Well related from my own post, seeing that you need survive for a while and not going 50 meters until the next airlock, how long will you survive with that kind of gear? The idea of this gear it's that you can put it like a life-jacket, in the same time, and tries to be minimal. It's like a life-jacket in a cold ocean, it saves your life but you'll die in short time if you don't get rescued or you swim to a boat

Why hasn't anybody used superheated water as rocket fuel
kunok replied to chadgaskerman's topic in Science & Spaceflight
As principal source of propulsion? You will need a lot of energy to be usefull, but I can see using superheated steam in the RCS in the future for simplicity. -
The point is using the H2SO4 of the atmosphere to get water, and avoid using metals at all

A post describing where should be found this 9 planet, with data that discards part of the possible orbits based on already made observations http://www.findplanetnine.com/p/blog-page.html Sorry for my terrible english i'm sleepy EDIT: Added image from the post, the color parts are the discarded regions of the chart

This, a Cylindrical coordinate system, the origin being the core of the galaxy, the origin of the longitude axis being the galactic plane. Other option it's what @cantab says, use Earth as the origin of the coordinate system, more useful for a "local" human expansion

It's a space opera, just enjoy it, it's not like it's sci-fi or something

I only watched the first episode, but I read the first two books, and I'm reading the third. In the first book, in the end is a little interview: Here you can read a little prequel that explains the discovery of the Epstein drive, http://www.syfy.com/theexpanse/drive/ , It's only 7 pages. TL,DR: The Expanse wants to be realistic, things making sense but no hard sci-fi, no math. For the water, it's used as reaction mass at least for the rcs of the ships (IIRC they use superheated steam), and I understand reading the books that also for the Epstein drive. The stealth is not really stealth, it's just radar absorbent coating, and being only a few degrees warmer than the background radiation, so no reactor no engines making heat, only coasting in stealth.

I like your idea of the rocket of the week, just one thing put the name of the rocket on the title.

Lots of Questions about reusable rockets and other stuff
kunok replied to Elthy's topic in Science & Spaceflight
This is the only I know without need for research: 6- Buran used a kerosene and oxygen based OMS, turbine-fed with a relatively good isp. I don't know if other spacecraft used non-toxic systems -
For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread

IIRC the "force" in a material travels at the speed of the sound in that material. -

[1.10.1+] Contract Configurator [v1.30.5] [2020-10-05]
kunok replied to nightingale's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The last update broke my tracking centre, it looks like always but when I try to fly some vessel, it goes to the infinity like this: https://imgur.com/AQWnjSk When it goes to this situation, i'm unable to make anything, I can't fly any vessel, or go back to the space centre. It should be this mod, because it's the only thing that was updated, yesterday it worked fine.- 5,180 replies

I'm doing an infographics about the solar system, and I'm not sure how to calculate the length of a day based on the orbital parameters. I was thinking about using this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidereal_time#Sidereal_days_compared_to_solar_days_on_other_planets but I'm not sure how to adapt the formula for a moon

Looks like the post I tried to make yesterday disappeared in the nothing. Well now it has plumbing! And improved structure! It's starting to look great, and now has a gallery: http://justsitback.deviantart.com/?rssQuery=gallery%3Akunok0%2F55304505&s=8%2C3%2C0 The texture for now it just a placeholder. And there it's a github with the model (license cc-by-sa) and a spreadsheet for the values to use in the cfg files. The plan is to support stock game, and realism overhaul, but I'm open to more support suggestions. Feel free to contribute and make suggestions, specially in the spreadsheet:D >BenjiGH Maybe now with the full structure make sense I will make you a call when I need help, for now I'm almost only importing things to blender.

I'm looking for that too, there it's a guide of how convert real parameters to KSP scale? I can't find none

New image! First serious iteration, http://fav.me/d91a1gz , there is missing a lot of things yet, and I don't know how to make a good render, but that's insignificant. I think, there is so many tubes in the real design that it's almost impossible to know where are they pointed in the photos, so here it's the scheme of how I understand that it works, looking the video and the images, http://www.subirimagenes.com/imagen-esquematubos-9416046.html ; what do you think about that? I will only do a few tubes, just the necessary for it to work , there it's no need for redundant tubes in the game, a little abstraction it's good. Next time I will upload the blender files and I'm starting looking to the config files . Should I use Github to upload these things? Most mods seems to upload there everything. It's good for non-source files, like blender files?

I love this game, and I will try to be useful to the rest of the forum
