  1. Ok thanks. I am assuming this version is from stock parts only - no mods? Keith Wow! This is the bees knees!!!
  2. Ok thanks. I have changed the file and it works ok now. I have tried the rocket & yes it has a huge amount of power, I just need to get the orbital burns right. That is proving hard, it was a lot easier going to Mun & Minimus! Also I lose control of the probe, as I don't have enough Satellites to send a signal. Perhaps trying for Eve is a step too far at this stage.
  3. Ok downloaded the file and installed - but is is not compatible with the version I am using. Any chance you could tell me the various parts? I could try building it myself. Keith
  4. Ok try this: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198047418237/screenshots/
  5. Can't post a screenshot, tried copy & paste - wont work. However it did save in steam, but I am not sure how to give a link to that!
  6. Ok thanks. I am on PC (W7) and have found the files now. As always thanks you all. Keith
  7. Hi, I wanted to install a download file (craft file) but I can't find the KSP directory! I download the game from Steam - any ideas please? Keith
  8. Ok thanks again. Lots to think about. I also get the impression a lot of you are using add ons? I only have the basic game, no mods, also my experience of rockets is quite basic. Whilst I have manged to get to both the Mun and Minimus - it was more by luck I think. When you talk about Delta & thrust - I am getting lost! I don't suppose there is a really simple guide? I have tended to use the same design - simple with just a few extra fuel tanks or boosters and copied the designs from sandbox. Thanks. Keith
  9. Oh, ok I thought it might be easier than that! I shall take your advice then. Thanks. Keith
  10. Ok thanks. At this stage it is just one way - and a probe only.
  11. Hello All, Well I am playing in career mode, and have decided to have a go at Eve. I have tried a few modified rockets, but can't get enough fuel to make it! Has anyone got a design using any features from the VAB up to 300 science. That is as far as I have got. Or is it too hard at this stage? Keith
  12. Yes I would have to say so. Watching the two ships edge close certainly gets the pulse going! My main game is in career mode, none of my pilots have yet advanced enough to get the target SAS mode, So docking is limited to sandbox at present. Thanks. I did not realise there was a 'Rendezvous' option. I did use the set orbit to recreate the tutorial, not cheating as the tutorial starts in orbit! That option does allow you to really work on just the docking side of things. Good idea.
  13. Hi Guys, Well at last I have managed to dock! It was not in the tutorial though. In sandbox I created the same tutorial - 2 ships on in higher orbit, anyhow this meant I could save as I went. In the end I did not need to reload, I have to say the instructions given really helped. So to any new players - believe me you can dock, you just need to practice. Thanks again. Keith
  14. Ok - only it says this is disabled in this tutorial.
  15. Ok - sounds good. I did retry - and I have come to the conclusion today is a bad day for docking. On this attempt, all worked fine, then at around 70KM from the target on the map, I changed to camera, and sure enough clicking the target icon, there was the box! So no idea why it finished before. Now.as they say..a funny thing happened to me today... I changed to map again and then thought I would thrust to start to get a bit closer, well instead of Z I hit space... you can guess what happened next. Oh and on final thing, in this tutorial you cannot control the target ship. With the mod is it easy to install?
  16. Well I have come to the conclusion that I am doomed to never finish this one. I have tried about 6 - 7 times now, and on the last few occasions this has happened: On on I got as far as the final orbit move and then the Z key no longer fired the engines, and the R key did not work the RCS, everything else worked ok. Restarted again - got as far as the orbit move, got a perfect intersection of around 17m, fired the engine completed the move. Used warp and checked the distance - 70m so checked the view, no sign of the target, warped a bit longer 30m, again no sign, warped again 20m, no sign.No idea why this is so hard or why this tutorial is playing up! I am going to restart the PC and try once more. After that well, I shall try in career mode with two ships and the written info you have given me. In the interim - if anyone has any idea why this is happening - please tell me!!!
  17. Ok thanks for that. Just tried again, before your post, got as far as the 100m away bit, but just could not get the ship aligned. Either shot off too far or the wrong way round! I can see this is going to take several hours/ days to complete. Oh and clicking on te target ship you do not get an option to select that docking port. You can select your own, just not the target craft.
  18. Wow..as always you are great at replies and I thank you all. Especially the guy at work on your 'special' holiday. By the way how are you getting on without us? (??) Now back to docking. I am almost there, the issue now is running out of fuel, I am afraid I have decided for this to use the cheat menu for unlimited fuel. Not good, but otherwise its back to square one each time. If I ever manage it I will post here to prove to other newcomers you can do it!!! Keith
  19. Ok - I think I have it now. I was using the normal node, but it required the anti node. So have got past that hurdle, even got as far as 500 m from the ship to be docked. Ran out of fuel then! The tutorials are not for the faint hearted. At least I have managed to get the first bit done. Shame you can't save as I have to start from the very beginning again. I dont suppose the actual instructions are available anywhere? Would be good to have all the steps to hand.
  20. Yes it is the inclination that I can't get to zero. And yes I am using the normal/ anti normal nodes. I will try again now.
  21. Hello I am having real issues with the in-game tutorial on docking. I click the man node and then adjust the orbit with the up/down markers, but I can never get anywhere near the zero required. Has anyone completed it and if so am I doing something wrong? I follow the instructions - but just can't get the zero required. Keith
  22. Very useful thread. I am having big issues with docking as well, but my issue is around the 'target' as mt SAS does not have target control. I am playing in career mode. So I am having to use the target manually. Very hard. I have used sandbox and docked first time. No issue. But in the career game and without the advantage of the target control, it is really hard. Any hints on docking without it?
