  1. When I read up on satellite contracts, I expected to see, what some people called, a shadow orbit to shoot for. None on my map. The little arrows come from the KAC mod. This is KSP 1.4.5 Linux.
  2. First satellite contract... Simple enough... place relay sat in orbit around the Mun. Ap, Pe are no brainers at this point. Inclination I understand but ow to get an inclination indicator with respect to the Mun? And, Long of AN. Since this is an inclined orbit, wouldn't that point constantly change as the Mun rotates?
  3. Been working/learning my way to an asteroid encounter/capture contract. Man this is hard but I'm getting there... Class A coming by Kerbin in 70 days... launched and refueled in orbit from my tanker. Targeted the asteroid... didn't think about the inclination of the asteroid as it goes by Kerbin... I'm about 240 degrees out of line! Lesson learned but what can I do about it now? Best to change inclination as far out or out of SOI..... looked and stared at my map... the Mun... in the right place! Plotted and executed an intercept... and then a mid course correction to come across in front of the Mun at about a 45 deg inclination... back and forth eyeballing different angles... crossed my fingers and did the burn. Came out of Mun SOI back in Kerbin orbit... 8.4 deg off the asteroids inclination. Hot damn! Two small burns and now matched. Intercept burn with RCS to fine tune the intercept... I got it down to 20km and speed 194 m/s. I don't know if I can get it back to Kerbin but baby steps. I really impressed myself with that Mun maneuver.
  4. Planning to see this Saturday. Read that the entire movie is made from the 70mm archival footage.. none of it is hollywood actors or CGI. This is cool.
  5. Well, no one is ordering them... Emirates has bought the most, over 100 of them but stopped ordering anymore. Economics shows it will be cheaper to run two B787's than one A380. Flew Emirates last year but, due to distance, Houston to Dubai, it was a B777... the A380 doesn't have the range. Next week we're flying to Singapore.. A350's due to the range.
  6. Me and my wife scuba dive.... heading to Indonesia next week. This is a capture from a video when we were in the Maldives Islands last year.
  7. At the Johnson Space Center, I got to touch a moon rock brought back from one of the Apollo missions.
  8. Learning to get rid of some of the space junk that collects in orbit. Launched a vehicle to go to Minmus... got into LKO... rendezvous and docked with a tanker I had left in orbit... it was 90% empty... <fp> ooops... targeted wrong tanker on launch.
  9. Installed KAC 3.9.1.0 and it works!... thanks for the suggestion. I assumed that 3.10.0.0 would have been backward compatible but, maybe something for TriggerAu to look at. This is the debug menu error when I tried to load 3.10.0.0
  10. Is the current version 3.10.0.0 compatible with Kerbal v1.4.5? I installed it yesterday but it doesn't show up...no icon. Playing on a Linux Mint 19.1 OS and Kerbal Linux Player.
  11. SOLVED Downloaded/Installed KAC 3.9.1.0 and that works. Installed Kerbal Alarm Clock but I don't get an icon for it. KSP version: 1.4.5.2243 Linux Player OS: Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.1 Mods: [x]Science, Kerbal Engineer, Docking Alignment Tool, Precise Manevuer Am I missing something?
  12. For rendezvous and docking, I found this guide helped me immensely... explains it very well... my approaches are much more controlled and I barely use any mono now to line up. Makes rescues simpler and docking easy peasy. Tutorial
  13. Doing some contracts.. killed 3 birds with one stone. Gather science and return from orbit around Minmus. Ferry a VIP.. flyby and orbit of Minmus. And rescue Danford in orbit around Minmus. One ship, one r/t trip to Minmus and back and 3 contracts done. Now back to launching my CommNet.
  14. This vessel is a refuel/delivery vessel... with it still being about 1/3 full.. just going to leave it in orbit around Kerbin as an "just in case" fuel stop. Just has a scientist in a module that I need Jeb to go up and "rescue" for the 6,000 science points he's carrying. Then I can close out the stock tech tree. Yippee!
  15. Thanks to you both! It worked nicely.... Back in Kerbin orbit... used a quite a bit less dv than I originally planned for. I was a little late making my burn from the Mun.. once back to Kerbin, 12 deg inclination, but quite acceptable. definitely clean that up for next time. And I see how that would work for any polar orbit departure... great feeling when the light bulb goes on.
  16. OK... that makes a lot of sense as it gets me out of the Mun's influence, departing it on a plane with respect to Kerbin, if I do it right, while also burning retrograde to Kerbin.
  17. Yes... that does makes sense... and just missed that window... about 20 deg off that line at the moment.
  18. So I'm in a polar orbit around the Mun. I have plenty of dv to work with but, how to leave the Mun SOI and return to Kerbin? Do you burn to get coplanar with Kerbin first and then burn to leave the Mun and return to Kerbin... or do a burn prograde on the backside of the Mun to leave it's SOI heading towards Kerbin and then burn retrograde in reference to Kerbin to return? Or... a combination of both? Is there an efficiency to combining it into one burn and then fine tuning one out of the Mun's SOI?
  19. Did the ooops last night. Mun exploration with my tanker/return module in a polar orbit. Bet you can see this coming. Lifted off my Mun Lander for a rendezvous for fuel... got into orbit aaaaaaaand.... opposite direction of the tanker. :facepalm Wonder how many have made that mistake.
  20. Finished 1st part of Potato Phase II. Have spent the past week exploring Minmus for the first time. The most nervous part was getting Bob Kerman back to Kerbin. Just enough fuel to get a low PE at Kerbin... discarded the transfer vehicle, enough fuel left in the Science Can to circularize and adjust inclination so Jebediah can get up to him and bring him home! 5800 juicy Science Points in Bob's pockets. I'm exhausted! Next, the same on the Mun, and then Tech Tree should be closed out.
  21. I ran into that problem of the cursor being out of position... it was caused by the game resolution and laptop resolution not matching. Did installing 1.6 reset the game resolution? Just a thought.
  22. Tried my first attempt at landing on Minmus. Got out there with dV to spare.... everything went very smoothly until about 600m above the surface... it was like I sucked down.. and the more thrust I used, the faster I descended until.. well, you know Kaboom! Ermmmm
  23. Just to clarify... I'm using the KSP.x86_64 there is no extension... that is correct. I typed .exe... a leftover from my WinDoze days since this is an executable/program file. Now, back to Parv's problem.
  24. I'm running the Linux version of KSP... don't have Wine or any other emulator installed.
