  1. Here's a few more screenshots of the first time I landed a rover (Liltrak) on the Mun. The boosters weren't powerful enough to lift me off the pad, so I just jettisoned them while they were burning. The rover is attached to a platform on top of a small lander. It's supposed to use RCS to lift itself off the platform, but I just drove it right off instead as it did not work. After a 10km drive to a nearby crater, a Kerbal poses for a picture by the Liltrak.
  2. Definitly China for me. They just got the money to do that kind of thing, whereas the US Government cancelled the constellation program.
  3. I'm a bit late to do it on the day of his death, but here's a moon mission dedicated to him. I used the OrionX1 by deadshot462 (one of my favourite spacecraft now!) and Mechjeb for the prograde and retrograde functions. I've already done a few tributes to him, but here's another. Lots of pics Liftoff In orbit and waiting for the munrise A brave Kerbal takes a quick glance back at Kerbin while coasting to the Mun. The crew have now entered munar orbit. During descent, the crew spot the Mun Arch. And the lander touches down on the surface of the Mun. A kerbal about to step onto the surface of the Mun. The crew on the surface. After their EVAs, the crew clambers back aboard the lander for munar liftoff. After a successful liftoff, the crew heads back towards Kerbin. The capsule hurtles through Kerbin's atmosphere at high speeds. The parachute opens and the capsule safely descends the last 500m The crew back on the grassy plains of Kerbin.
  4. Definitely Apollo, but I also like Soyuz for it's reliability, and Gemini for the same reason as Nibb31. The space shuttle was pretty neat too, but for some reason I prefer capsules more.

    0.17 Update Video

Wow, the internal spaces look awesome already, even though there is no instruments. I'll definitely be flying my space planes this way when 0.17 comes out.
  6. Wow. A shout out from the people who sent a rover to Mars. That's just awesome.
  7. Just though I'd share a small memorial I made for Neil in Minecraft. I'm new to building statues, but I think this one came out pretty good.
  8. I'm not sure if you'll respond Nova, but I just have a few quick questions regarding the new planets. First of all, I'm just wondering about the planets closest to the sun. What will it be like there? Secondly, will there only be 1 gas giant in the Kerbol System? (Sorry if this has already been answered) Lastly, can you splash down in the ocean-looking portions of Eve like you can on Kerbin? Thanks for all the work you've done!
  9. I wonder what it's like for the people who live around the Olympic areas in London...
  10. I was heading for Minmus on what was supposed to be my first landing. I was captured by the gravity, did a burn to get into orbit, then burned again to begin my landing. I came down at a good 5m\s, but unfortunetly it was on the side of an extremely steep hill. A leg snapped off and exploded, and my lander tipped over. Even though it was slow, my ascent stage hit the ground and exploded too. I disconnected the command pod, but it began tumbling down the hill at a high speed. I quickly got the Kerbals out of the pod, but the moment they hit the ground they started tumbling down the hill too. I managed to get the last Kerbal's EVA pack activated in time, and saved him. The other 2 Kerbals eventually stopped rolling at the canyon's floor and I managed to get them up. I brought the other Kerbal down via evapack, and the crew was reunited. The problem was I was left with a connecter, an RCS tank, and nothing else. Even the command pod was destroyed, and the Kerbals are currently stranded in the middle of mountainous terrain on Minmus with no command pod to refuel their EVA packs at.
  11. I remember HarvesteR stating in his post that 0.17 was about lots of small features, but planets.... Those are certainly not small features! Great job KSP Devs!
  12. I play another space simulator called Orbiter, and while browsing the forums for it one day I stumbled across a thread about it. I thought the whole concept seemed great, so I downloaded the demo and played it for a few weeks. I didn't buy it for a while, but when 0.15 came out, I just couldn't resist anymore.
  13. Planets already? This is great! The desert planet looks spectacular Nova! I'm a bit more excited about the gas giants and their moons though, and I can't wait to see those too!
  14. The detail is absolutly incredible! Great job! Definitly one of the best NASA-related addons I\'ve seen!
  15. Here\'s a picture at one of my launches. I couldn\'t find any good pics or videos of it in-flight, since it\'s rather hard to film such a fast object. This was the Estes 'Stormcaster' and if I remembre correctly I used a C11-3 engine, or something around there. I\'ll be sure to film and take pictures at my next launch and try to post it here!
  16. This is, by far, my favourite mod for KSP. Keep up the good work!
  17. I\'ll probably build a new Mun rocket with the new parts, then before I launch that I\'ll probably test out the EVAs. Then of course, I\'ll send the original 3 to the Mun.
  18. My first rocket was very small and easy to keep upright, so my first lift off went fine. I got maybe 85km on my first liftoff.
  19. Nice job on the videos! I still get goosebumps thinking of the Apollo 11 landing. 'Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed.'
  20. Here\'s a few pics I took. A mun landing. Nothing too special, but I liked the hill in the background. In fact, I\'ve chosen it as my next landing site Just yesterday, I launched my first space station into orbit. It doesn\'t do anything, nor have any means of propulsion, SAS or RCS, but it looks really nice and was fun to launch. Kerbinrise. You can see Kerbin visible underneath the sun. For whatever reason, my rocket simply fell apart a little bit after starting the flight. Right back to the VAB! After a takeoff went horribly wrong and my rocket started to flip, I jettisoned part, only to realise the other part and the boosters were still at full throttle, and this ended up in a violent explosion of the first and second stages, and sending the third and the lander flying towards the ground.
  21. Can\'t wait to see this! I recently found NASA TV and watched the recent Soyuz launch live, so I\'m hoping they will have a video to show for this landing too!
  22. I\'ve only tried Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, and it\'s tons of fun. The tutorials are detailed and can get anybody to play. It\'s really quite a blast to play. Looking at FSX, it doesn\'t seem a whole lot differant, so that\'s what I\'d recommend.
  23. Same here. For whatever reason, I take massive amounts of screenshots. I have 56 screenshots in my 0.15 KSP install, and some are absolutly pointless. I have about 11 screenshots of orbits that look pretty much the same. I\'m the worst with Minecraft though. I have a folder with 378 screenshots in it.... That\'s about 3\5 of every screenshot in my main picture directory..

    Flight

I\'ve built a few of those Estes kits, and experimented with a few of my own designs. I haven\'t made anything beyond that though.
  25. When I said Kerbol, I was referring to the star. http://184.154.141.114/~kerbalsp/wiki/index.php?title=Kerbol Also, I\'m fairly sure Minmus has a monolith. I seem to remember seeing it floating above the surface in another thread.
