  1. A Vertical Launch, single manned space shuttle!! What more can be said!! Stage 1: Boosters and Launch engines ignition Stage 2: Booster Separation Stage 3: Launch engines separation; Main engine ignition Stage 4: Main Engine separation; air-jet engines ignition Stage 5: Parachutes for slowing down on runway Launch instructions: 1. 1/3 throttle; Press Launch 2. When boosters run dry, separate and throttle up to 1/2 3. Rotate to orbital direction and begin gravity turn 4. When launch engines run dry, separate and continue to orbit with main engine 5. When in orbit, turn off engine 6. To deorbit, use main engine in retrograde angle 7. Once in atmosphere, jettison main engine 8. At 10,000m turn on jet engines and bring down as normal plane .zip file includes a MechJeb Version as well. Enjoy!!
  2. Or you can put struts between the decoupler and stages, as they are very weak in the new version
  3. It may be your rocket has too much thrust and is pressuring the parts.. Try throttling down, and keeping your G's under 2-3 (Also in 0.16, there is a fuel glitch where the lower the engine is running, the longer the fuel lasts)
  4. Welcome Ypkerbal!! The game basically uses all the laws of physics (that the game engine can actually run). There are many forums on here to help you to build a rocket, get into orbit, and maybe even get to the Mun!! Also check out the 'Spacecraft' exchange, where you can download other people's rockets. By the way, if you got the demo, the latest version (0.16) needs to be paid for, but is worth it with new parts, better graphics, and E.V.A's!!! (Spacewalks) Anyway, have a great time playing this game, as I have for many many hours Dom
  5. I am in love with the Ascent/Return Stage!! Well Done
  6. Bookmarked the page-- can't wait to see what youve got to present!
  7. Hey guys, I have been designing a new planetary lander, that is capable of return, but I am stuck on a craft that can reach escape velocities... It needs to be a small craft, that preferably is single stage (but boosters are okay as long as they don't interfere with a ladder system), and can reach escape trajectories with fuel to spare for orbital maneuvers.. I have come close to such a craft, but I didn't have enough fuel by the tiniest margin.. One other thing, it needs to be small, so that once I add the entry stage, and initial Launch Vehicle, my computer can run it Cheers, Dom
  8. Not to worry Nymus!! In the next update they are implementing new, more detailed tutorials, as well as pre-designed ships!! (dont ask me or anyone about the release date as this is 'illegal' to the forums) But nonetheless, WELCOME TO KSP!!!
  9. I am already in the stage of designing new ways of landing crafts, and then taking off again to go back to kerbin... It pretty hard to do (for me), and here are my steps: 1-Small lander craft that has enough fuel/thrust to return to Kerbin. (ie/ enough to get me on an escape trajectory, with fuel to spare for orbital maneuvers. 2-A landing system involving both chutes, and rockets, that will fly off once the lander is down (I am hoping for this stage to be above the capsule 3-An orbital maneuvering system for going towards the new planet(s) 4-A launch vehicle for the whole thing, that will be efficient enough to get me into an escape trajectory of Kerbin... For now, I am still stuck on stage one of this plan.. hopefully some new parts in the update will help me a lot...
  10. Honestly I would like to see a Dagoba-like planet (star wars reference)(The one where yoda lives in the original trilogy), with like caves and stuff for kerbals to explore, and vines on trees that they can climb 8) That would be so cool!!
  11. I call it the \'Minecraft Effect\'... You get excited for new features, then when it comes you play for 2 hours and go--- I WANT MORE!!!
  12. Awesome!!! Havent seen these for years!! Cheers, Dom
  13. Downloaded!!! Awesome! Cant wait to try it out Thanks! Cheers, Dom
  14. To use the ladders just right click the ladder storage box thing on the rocket itself and press extend Awesome build though!! Cheers, Dom
  15. Welcome to the forums! Cheers, Dom
  16. The reason I wanted the time periods because... Its because when you time warp you can see the planets moving at the times they would in real But I guess if you want to do them in size of orbit, that would be okay Cheers, Dom
  17. Welcome to the Forums!! And congratulations to your first munar landing!! Cheers, Dom
  18. I do hope this will happen!! But I think if we get KSC\'s on other bodies (mun, minmus etc.), they would only have the parts that you deliver to them in a cargo trip -- otherwise it would be a bit too unrealistic Cheers, Dom
  19. Haha, i dont know if you understood the saying In Australia it means if you are going to tell someone else that fact, don\'t tell them I said it cos it may be wrong and I dont want to look bad... But yes good luck to anyone who attempts this!! P.S. I just successfully recrewed/restocked my Mun base
  20. Hey guys, posting my first challenge here! I want to do this, but I am too busy designing, flying crashing, and setting up mun base programs (IE crew exchange and restock missions after certain time periods). I challenge you, to make our real life inner solar system around Kerbol with ships... I.e. put a ship in the same orbit around Kerbol as they are around our sun (for example, mercury has an 88 day orbit).. The orbits are preferred to be decently circular (yes I know the arent all perfect in real-- mercury\'s is highly elliptical), but the main goal is their orbits the right time Just so you know, a good way to do this (or the only way even1) is halve the orbital periods (IE mercury 88/2=44), go to the periapsis/apoapsis and see how long it is to the opposite side Here are the periods: Mercury - 88 days Venus - 225 days Earth - 395365 days Mars - 687 days 1 Dont quote me on this-- It may not be true
  21. Are you playing on high quality or low quality? And do you get lag with stupidly overpower rockets?
  22. Hey Kerbanauts, Ive been thinking about getting a mac computer next year sometime, and I was wondering how KSP runs on them. Is it really laggy, or is it fairly high performance? Computers Im considering are the Mac mini or the Macbook Pro. Cheers, Dom
  23. Fun fact: 30 Kerbals out at once gives you 1 FPS at minimum settings. YOU ARE A GOD!!! You just gave me an idea ;D
  24. Welcome to the forums Imaus!! First, I\'d like to say that I have only landed planes on terrain, not the runway, so I am not that accurate. Now, to business: Generally, your horizontal speed should not matter (as long as you arent going like crazy), as opposed to your vertical speed.. You only want to decrease a meter or two a second... You can do this but reducing thrust and angling the plane up a bit, so the lift slows the plane down... Dont get me wrong, horizontal speed does matter, but it is mainly the vertical... But yes you are correct, the planes are much harder to fly than rockets!! Just remember, vertical speed is the main thing!! Hope this helps you!! Sorry if it doesn\'t! You could always search vids on youtube for a practical demonstration, but my internet is running slow so I cant look some up for you at the moment Cheers, Dom
