  1. Not sure what you are getting to. Any maneuver like that (supposing you want it to be done as quickly as possible) is half the rotation full thrust there, the second half full thrust in the opposite (to stop the rotation). Am I missing something, or are you just f... erm... messing with us?
  2. This is my personal opinion... both Norton AND Kaspersky are trash. Been using Avira for like 10+ years. Never had any problem (well, I am what they call "advanced user"). And why would you want to upgrade to Eight-whatever anyway? I just got me a new rig, set up 7, more than enough.
  3. Far as I remember they turned it into a triumph - the Soviet news on that day read "The first solar satellite"!
  4. "Earth is a crib of the mankind. But humankind cannot live in the crib forever" Tziolkovsky
  5. I just announced a paid vacation for all my astronauts. Made sure they all are on E... I mean Kerbin. They will get to visit their... hmm... sporemates? down under the surface, in one of those cities I'd so much like to see. And spend a week with them, telling stories. Jeb especially, I mean, he's just back from Duna : )
  6. No, this one is not 3D. Yes it is old. Yes it has one of the best music scores that ever made its way into a computer game. Yes it has an incredible amount of worlds to explore. Yes, the exploration is tense and requires some some twitch reflexes and a lot of strategic thinking. Yes you can spend half a year on this (playing an hour or two in the evening). Yes it has a grand plot, of which you will be a key component, should you choose to be one. Otherwise you will watch the thing unfold around you. Yes you have hundreds of places to explore/exploit. Star Control. The first one. Enough said.
  7. See post #42 Page 5 P.S. Just realized it was actually #42! Talk about the ultimate answer : D
  8. Not bad, loved the sun rays and the rainbow lens effect : )
  9. Control: Jeb, get out and push.
  10. Watching it now. Haven't seen anything yet, but I still have quite a few hours before sunrise. Jerusalem here (The One : )
  11. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/63481-Runaway-rover-Science-Lab Post #4
  12. Well, you DO of course slow down before you land, it will just be much shorter/weaker burn. It's all easier out there on Minmus : )
  13. I wonder if the OP is still monitoring the thread. But thanks for bringing this back to topic, Shabu. Have you noticed how we all just veered off the whole thing and into the fun realm? Fascinating, isn't it?
  14. With my Minmus mission, I was actually planning to just orbit the thing, but then I realised I could just land and take off without barely a dent in my return fuel supply... so I did. Netted me so much science (on the level that I was ATM), my next expedition to Mun was a breeze : )
  15. Right.. youtubers found themselves a nice little thread to hang around... Well, I do it too. I have a musician/shamanistic dance friend. We've hung out together for about twenty years - I got married eventually, so we hang out less nowadays... I film him at his concerts and post the flicks. I happily opted out of the monetization program on youtube and just keep the videos there for those who appreciate him.
  16. Oh man... you are going to have one hell of a time rescuing those unless you get mechjeb and learn how to use it. On the bright side though, the greatest aspect of mechjeb is letting you see every stage of the process. I learned so much about orbital operations just by watching it do the thing. Not that I didn't have any background though, but that was minimal. I'd suggest that you restart the career, making sure you got mechjeb, research its stages as needed (the needed nodes in the tech tree are there in mechjeb description somewhere, just search for it (on the web that is, not inside the game) - to get the first mechjeb stage just go Control in the tree. Best of luck!
  17. Another tip: if you set your extendable ladders at the aircraft cockpit so that they are vertical, your pilot will have a REALLY hard time climbing back into the cockpit. It is not impossible, but hard. Set your ladders at an angle away from the cockpit, and place them fairly high, so that the pilot can (almost) climb on top of the cockpit. Set them next to the bubble (the glass part), over the existing steps on the cockpit. Oh, and also, 2 ladders are better than one (they should be on both sides that is). Don't ask, see for yourself : )
  18. Oh, hi son. how was school? Oh noooooo! missed the stage.... I am not gonna make it! ah well (F9...). So how was your day, son? Happens to me at least a couple of times a week : )
  19. As long as there is a reasonable loss on conversion, I am all good with that. Here's to hoping they balance it well at the end.
  20. Happy to share some of my conclusions about Minmus, from my last trip there: Minmus is very easy to land on, and to orbit around. It is small, so the gravity is almost zero. You can land huge things on matchsticks. Not that you will need to. The easiest way to explore it is to go with a MK1 lander (the smallest lightest 1-man can), with a smallest fuel tank/engine, thin legs, stuff like that. Leave the main ship up in orbit. Go down where you please, do the thing, go up, dock transfer stuff, repeat. Getting the Lab module to the orbit there is easy too, so one lander with one goo and one matlab will do, long as you have a lab there. You might need a tanker of fuel every now and then to keep your lander fueled, but it is not too much of an effort and good fun too : ) Personally, I am going to make a full-blown mission around/on Minmus (and/or Mun) my next career (yep, restarting).
  21. I was posting a whole reply, then I realized it was redundant, so that's what I posted instead and already reported it to the mods with a request it be deleted.
  22. Hehe, I am NOT trying rovers on Minmus : ) I've had enough fun on Mun. Like I said in some other thread (I think,) there will be a reason for rovers when we get biomes on higher-G bodies. Then, especially if they have atmosphere, it will become too costly to have rocket-powered craft to hop around biomes, or for orbital base to send probes there and back. Then we will have to figure out the aircraft, rovers, all kinds of stuff : ) -------------------------------- Happy New Year : )
  23. OP: You funny fella. Ever since I started learning English ( I was seven at the time,) I have always been amused by the fact that English is in fact the most simple language on Earth. Or so I think. I do suggest you get acquainted with Georgian for one. Now that's the one that is guaranteed to blow your mind. Or, for a simpler challenge, Russian. That said, I was just about to write up the whole thesis. But I realised that your notion is based on a certain level of complication, beyond which you are not ready to go comfortably, even though you can. You then try to lower the generally accepted quality limit to the level that suits your comfort level. A desire like this does not deserve a complicated rebuttal - it deserves a simple "no". I do not consider this a genuine desire to make the language better. I rather think it is yet another way to make things easier. Which is rarely the most advantageous direction to head in, in terms of future progress.
  24. How about using your screen buttons? There must be a "Brightness" setting there. Now, don't laugh, I do use it in quite a few games, when the internal settings are not enough. It also helps to bring the "Contrast" a bit up, not too much though.
  25. This is about the absolutely worst kind of attempted reentry. I have to say I attempted something like this... but that was very long time ago. No, really. On a programmable calculator. At the end of the Cold War. In Moscow. It was pure fun, but it didn't work. I just kept running out of fuel no matter what. Thanks for bringing back the memories : D Really : )
