  1. As people before me stated, you should basically make it so that your needed delta V (as depicted by the yellow/green scale and the number) is at the half of the scale when you reach "Node in 0 seconds". That means you have burned the half before, and will burn another half after the exact node spot. That should give you the most efficient maneuver. However: The calculations are not exact, neither you nor MechJeb are precise in working the throttle, therefore you will (almost) always need a correction burn (usually in the middle of the transfer trajectory, so that it takes less deltaV) In case you start the burn exactly at the node, you will be incurring some mistake, which will need correction. But this correction is usually not much compared to the overall deltaV you are spending on the maneuver.
  2. I have just set my sights on Jool - sent a mighty ship there. 5 docked modules, hope they arrive in one piece. How I did it on Duna though, was: 1. Quicksave before apoapsis. 2. Burn to a certain periapsis at the apoapsis 3. Check what that periapsis does to you 4. Quickload and repeat with a different periapsis till you hit the ballpark Cheating? Well, I CBA to calculate it beforehand (that would be one hell of a bunch of calculations too). So I do the Kerbal way - by trial and error (and quickload : )
  3. I regularly overengineer stuff beyond what's reasonable. My worst case is usually overpowered rockets that either tear themselves apart or (when I limit the acceleration via MechJeb) are to heavy to lift themselves into orbit without tearing themselves apart. Had this like a hundred times. Guess that's just me... : ) Happy New Year everybody : )
  4. The poll idea is interesting... I just doubt this is going to change anything.
  5. I started anew in .23, it is my 4th year now, just because I am too lazy to stage several flights before I finish one. So my Dune Odyssey stretched for a couple of years while my crew was stranded there picking their nonexitent noses waiting for not one, but two rescue missions (the first one failed). It's all about the transfer windows, see : ? The same about my Eeloo probe, I just let it roll while I was at it. That's how we get to those excessive time spans, right? Just wanted to post this as something to think about regarding the "multiplayer time sync" thing that the team is working on nowadays. (Ask me, I'd rather have resources and whatever else, rather than this, but... you all heard where this is heading).
  6. I routinely overengineer my stuff, so that is normal for me. I have to admit that launching small Minimus stuff with a launch vehicle that can easily go Dune and beyond is a bit of an overkill.

    Back

Welcome back : ) Just make sure you have a stage (stages) that separate(s) boosters. With your experience in this (that you claim) I don't really understand how you cannot separate boosters from stage. You are welcome to ask questions, I'll do my best to answer those, in the timely manner too.
  8. Tiberion, maybe you should learn how to make your points clear with less text. I am not reading ANOTHER wall of text. Sorry. I am sure you have a lot of interesting things stuffed in there, but... We are mere humans, and as a rule we don't read 1KB of text just to figure out someones opinion on the stuff we are discussing.
  9. Unfortunately, Gates spends his dusk years on silly stuff. Like, excrement. Literally. And urine, too. How sad that is. http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/Blog/2013/12/24/Bill-and-Melinda-Gates-Foundation-invests-in-urine-powered-mobile-phone/6001387910182/?spt=sec∨=on
  10. Why don't you copy a clean install, get those mods and find out? : )
  11. This IS crazy... Skyrunner, could you provide a link or three? I'd like to see that myself. If those "private space programs" were funded from above... it ruins the whole concept.
  12. The main virtue of the Stayputnik is that it is available very early in the tree, so you can start unmanned stuff right away.
  13. Transferring is just transferring. When you return and recover the capsule with the data that has been transferred to it, you will get full value.
  14. It is good to see you are still around, man : D
  15. I can't help but notice the thread is veering way off its original course though : ) P.S. not that I mind: I've learned a bunch of new things about modern american space program today.
  16. I still don't understand this. Demands of the vision?? Look, i'll study that document tonight, but... your opinion still sounds nonsensical to me. Sorry.
  17. Indeed. I applaud the foreign ministers on both sides. Well, the leaders too, but to a lesser extent : )
  18. Didn't it though? Pretty much, that is. IMHO the rest of it was like watching Mandela wither away... EDIT: Clarification: They just ran the rest of the shuttles till their operating lifespan ran out, and that was it.

  20. I didn't want to spend any research points on smaller unmanned probes, so I used this one. And, like other people stated, it does offer a nice platform for attaching stuff. I usually just plaster it with smallest solar panels. As the thing is spherical, I (almost) always get at least a bit of power going in. http://s10.postimg.org/8u7rr8odl/screenshot6.png
  21. I absolutely agree. And I think we have a hint of that in the "Planned features" list. I remember something along the lines of "Discovering new planets". That would mean (I am guessing here) that we'll start out with just Sun and Kerbin on our map and will have to "discover" the rest of the system. And I completely agree that after "discovering" a planet, we should get science points or any other reward (mission completion? Extra funding?) when we actually go there and measure stuff. Oh wait, we already have that! In terms of Science that is.
  22. No worries, we can wait : ) As for the changes, I personally didn't notice anything drastic, nothing like you describe. My rig is dual 2.77MHz, 2Gb RAM, and an Nvidia GT630. I did notice a slight improvement in the FPS when upgrading from 22 to 23, but that was about it.
  23. OP: if you post a shot of your vehicle AND your computer basic specs, we would be able to help you. Otherwise it's all guesswork.
