  1. I did an IVA-to-Mun and landing mission (though admittedly not in real time), and it's really not that hard. Sure it's comforting to see the ship, but between the radar altimeter and compass ball, all the info you need is there. Especially if you're Ok with using mp view. If you want to see the outside of your ship to check everything staged right, just EVA.
  2. Aww, shit. I was looking at capacity instead of weight. Let\'s say 5U.
  3. EDIT: THE IMAGE IS OFF BY A FACTOR OF 100, ACTUAL CARGO REQUIRED IS 5U tl;dr rules: SSTO ala K Prize Carry at least 5U in cargo, you can\'t use the cargo to help you Have an escape system that can de-orbit itself Please note that I will not keep track of winners because I don\'t visit the forums often enough for that. This isn\'t a competition, it\'s a challenge to test yourself against. Have fun. Mods allowed except cheat mods, again, this is up to your discretion. Sorry for the terrible anti-aliasing on the font, I\'m too cheap to buy Office so I\'m using LibreOffice.
  4. >implying leetspeak is used by anyone anymore >implying greentext isn\'t the wave of the future >implying implications
  5. I believe this is the best possible without using the fuel exploit. Landed on KSC terrain, so I assume 'line' is a given. Three parts off the pad, three parts landed. Awards: Stock : No mod parts, +350pts Survivor : All crew survives, +500pts Line : Craft launches following an almost perfect line, +800pts Ascent speed : Highest speed is achieved while climbing, +1000pts Total points (using top speed from end-mission screen): 2,852.3
  6. I mean, 45 degrees from munar-equatorial. I think it\'s just little mistakes compounding by the time I reach the Mun.
  7. Wait. This doesn\'t seem like the Mun. Check the map, I think we\'re lost.
  8. So the Unity V will survive the update but be a pain in the ass to land, because you can\'t just idle your way down?
  9. Which would make sense except this is at the south pole.
  10. This only applies if you have a rocket capable of making orbit, so take it with a grain of salt. [list type=decimal] [li]Launch[/li] [li]At 10km, tilt east a bit[/li] [li]Burn until your apopthingy is where you want it[/li] [li]Coast to apopthingy[/li] [li]Burn at the horizon like a mad mo\'fo\' until your orbit is good enough[/li] [li]???[/li] [li]Profit[/li]
  11. A Raspberry Pi will *not* run KSP. Hell, a 2007 Macbook has a hard enough time.
  12. I didn\'t know we had auroras. We do, at least a southern one. Northern Glory didn\'t see one, but Southern Expedition did.
  13. What normal way? I do the Mun-rise burn transfer from an equatorial Kerbin orbit, and usually I\'m about 45 degrees in any given direction.
  14. How the hell do you do it without Mechjeb? I don\'t want to use Mechjeb, but I want a Munbase.
  15. About god damn time, I finally managed to do it. http://imgur.com/a/i28bx ^imgur album. Took two flights for my not to get ADD and actually take enough pictures. Stock 16.0, no Mechjeb involved. Ship is the Unity Orbital V SSTO. Attached is the .craft Instructions to fly: 1. ASAS on immediately 2. disengage ASAS near end of runway, pull up. Your nose will raise after you drop off the runway. 3. Point upwards about 70-80 degrees, facing due east 4. Disengage jets when out of jetfuel (or they\'ll eat your rocket fuel, those greedy bastards), raise gear 5. Raise apopthingy as desired 6. Circularize orbit as usual 5. Burn whenever to de-orbit. Just try to land on flat land. 7. Keep nose slightly above horizon and engine on lowest setting for last 4km vertical 8. Touch down and blow the chute.
  16. It\'s usually not to terribly difficult to make Linux programs run under OSX. Depending on whether Unity calls Cocoa or other proprietary interfaces and APIs, it may run on Linux using the OSX file. Otherwise, just use WINE.
  17. Joe 8) Future\'s so bright he\'s gotta wear shades.
  18. Launch of a Xubuntu IIIb Communications satellite Bob will later re-enter and burn up, being replaced by a clone. be rescued.
  19. Just a note, I\'m not saying the devs did a bad job with the map. They did it fairly well, better then many fake maps. (I\'ve seen ones that are simply land-water inverses of Earth and claimed to be an alien world...) So, upon close inspection of the map of Kerbin it\'s obvious that KSP resides in a very poorly obscured Africa. The trick comes in looking beyond the 'hehe it looks like Africa' and seeing the greater picture. For example, albeit enlarged relative to Africa, Hispania exists. Europe seems to have been mostly removed, or rather moved elsewhere. (See - Ireland in southeast). Russia exists quite fully, Japan is half-formed and peeking out of the Asian landmass. India appears to have split off and downwards. In the northwest, Central America has been removed and North America\'s top half exploded into a super-continent. However, the California coast and gulf coasts are recognizable, as is South America. Feel free to extrapolate further.
  20. The obvious, kerbal way is to go up to Mun\'s orbit, miss it; then chase it down.
  21. Rebuild my pride and joy rocket because it\'ll be borked.
  22. First lift off, or first successful liftoff? Because I ended up spinning off wildly and exploding a few seconds later.
