  1. @KerbMav I think this is the most sensible idea I've yet to hear on this (first time I come across it). I think that's sure to keep - if not make things more fun ! Cheers!
  2. Don't open the chutes that high. They'll rip. And too fast for you to notice what happened. I open my chutes at around 6000m maybe, or like 350 m/s max speed. Cheers!
  3. I'm with you a 100% on all that. All of these are already available as mods. Many mods though. Installing them is a hassle. Getting them to play nice is a hassle. Maintaining them (updates) is a hassle. That is the only reason I would LOVE that they be stock features. On the other hand, I realise that there are more pressing matters that SQUAD devs want to be working on. So I really wouldn't mind if they were at least combined into one, large, community collaboration mod, a la ACE mods for ArmA for example. Cheers!
  4. First, go in the ksp folder, and just copy the 'saves' folder to somewhere else. Anywhere really, desktop would work fine. That is to backup your saves. Second, you should tell us what operating system you are on. Lastly, yes, an uninstall/reinstall would work for sure. If you do that, don't forget to copy back your 'saves' folder into the ksp main folder in order to restore your saves. Cheers! P.S: I use steam so I can't give you any advice regarding the launcher/patcher. But reinstalling is will fix it for sure.
  5. Congrats and welcome, new kerbonaut! I'd like to add to what has been said and tell you that the 64bit issue on windows will be addressed at some point in the future (maybe even as soon as in the next two updates!). However, on Linux the 64bit version is perfectly stable! Cheers!
  6. Not present here but Stupid_Chris's avatar kills me. In a bad way. Cheers!
  7. go to Kerbal Stuff and check out the featured mods category.. and the whole site anyway. Very good presentation. Cheers and happy modding!
  8. The game in its current versions suffers from memory leaks. AFAIK no one has come up with a solution such as the one you propose. HOWEVER, in the last Squadcast Maxmaps confirmed that these have been worked on and there are major improvements on that front (memory usage) in the upcoming version. Here's the Squadcast summary post with the relevant info. Cheers!
  9. I kind of have the same prob as OP. So you mean as in to try a retrograde burn of some specified parameters and see where that gets? maybe we could then adjust the burn point on the orbit to suit our landing target? But then again, when you're transferring from Kerbin, you rarely end up in the same encounter orbit! So..... ? Cheers!!
  10. We need a Hail Mu emoticon. Cookie for whomever gets the reference
  11. Congratulations fellow penguin! And if you haven't already be sure to check out and maybe share your experience at the Linux Thread ! Cheers! EDIT: I'm currently using it on Ubuntu Studio and it's working like a charm too
  12. Cheeeeeeeeers you guys! Since 2012... Through my lowest lows and highest highs, you guy's have been there I've just realized. My memory isn't what it used to be, but now I compensate with rocketry! And now you've thrown this update in my face made me restart my whole space race But for that I'll raise this toast instead And hope your Kerbals are always well fed! You really are the best!
  13. I voted for this mod on ModDB for mod of the year!!
  14. If you post a picture it would better describe an issue like this and also people tend to engage more. There are some plugs that alter ambiant light and things like that, but I'm not sure if they mess with occlusion and detail things... Cheers
  15. Ugh :/ this messed up my morning to be honest. Of all the ideas about what Kerbals are like, from the most tight and sensible to the extremely far fetched....Trailer park redneck type thing ? Really? I don't find that remotely amusing. I can't even relate to it. It's the first time I say something like this about SQUAD's work , and I've been around since 0.13 (!), but this is CHEAP! It's a really really cheap attempt at humor, if that's the point anyway! It's not even clear what the point is! this is just bad art design build upon bad art direction. I wasn't expecting anything more than passable at best from this, but no I'm genuinely shocked this time! I don't think I can still be expect anything more to look forward to from SQUAD's part after this. Yes, I've got my money's worth a hundred fold and I'm not claiming rip-off one bit. But this is it. And I feel sad to think that. Of all the potential this game had and could have been... Now I think it's just up to the awesomest modders on the planet. Thank you SQUAD for bringing us this far at least, and for taking good care of keeping your project open for modding. Cheers..
  16. Yeah, there was a thread about it. It was IIRC a part of a grand plan NovaSilisko was brewing back then to connect all the easter eggs and make some sort of a story line concerning them. If you search a little you'll find the thread. SSTV signal duna would be good search keywords i guess. Cheers!
  17. Sorry I came off a little snotty with that comment. I recall vaguely it being very late and me probably coming here straight from my facebook feed which was really full of too much silly stuff. You've probably been there yourself at a certain point hehe... Your post makes sense. There's nothing wrong with it, per se, and really if i'm "put off" by the amounts of "superficial and silly people" on the net then my best hope should be that they come across something like KSP Anyway, my mind is blank now concerning ideas for contests, but I sure will keep it in mind and will sure be pitching to you any that might come up! Thanks for the relply and cheers from Lebanon! P.S: I once asked, a long while ago I think, if we could have a BBcode for SoundCloud embedding (for embedding tracks in signatures and so on). Any ideas on that?
  18. I really don't get the interest at all myself. I mean I see the fun in making 10 seconds loop videos, like as in someone coming up with an idea for a short loop video and making it. But a whole website dedicated to generating 10 second loop videos? really?! I think this will be a very short-lived trend in my opinion. Also - again in my very own subjective opinion - it kind of pains me to see KSP contests (and out of game community activities in general) revolving around this kind of completely off-topic, superficial, thoughtless, "just-for-fun", and utterly useless fads. It makes me feel as if we're stooping low just to garner attention from larger ( and apparently here attention span-lacking ) audiences. Hey, maybe this is the whole idea: to catch the attention of web surfers lost and adrift and turn them into rocket scientists with clear goals and high ambitions . But honestly, I think we can do that and much more in way better and interesting ways. We're the KSP community! We have a thread discussing potentially launching a community CubeSat! To Phobos perhaps even! Hope I didn't come up as sounding condescending in this, I really don't mean to. Cheers!
  19. I always read these threads backwards, man..
  20. I don't have a game-stopping problem with the fonts per se, but I'd really appreciate the ability to enlarge it. I'm pretty much used to reading in smaller fonts, but that's about the limit, and I can easily see how this could be a major obstacle for others (thinking about a few older friends and relatives I'd like to share the game with). Cheers!
  21. True. But on the other hand, for us people that do not care about it, it would also mean that a huge amount of development time from SQUAD's part would be wasted for literally nothing for us to benefit from. I mean you said it. wouldn't affect gameplay if you don't touch it. Well then I'd rather they put those dev hours into improving the game (in the countless areas that are still in dire need of improving!) and advancing towards a stable 1.0 Release version. Also, we have all the tools (and more!) to mod in resource systems as complex as we like, as is already proven by Interstellar, Kethane, and Karbonite. So let the modders keep doing the awesome things they're doing, and let SQUAD build up and polish the core game like they are I'd say. Does that make sense? Cheers! P.S: I'm not hating on resources or anything here. I'm just raising a point
  22. I friggin LOVE you people!! you are my best dev team, my best community, and compete with - or more accurately are the cookie to my morning coffee Congrats on fatherhood Lalo! I guess it's always a "sudden onset" kind of thing Cheers!
  23. Hasn't this been already discussed thoroughly in the other thread?? I say let's wait for SQUAD's say on the matter , and Majir's as well. In any case, I don't mean to be a back seat moderator but... cheers
