I couldn't dock space craft so I installed Mech Jeb, when i got so frustrated at how horribly inefficient it was and terrible at handling wiggly ships and realized what it was doing wrong I could suddenly dock. I couldn't rendezvous until I gave up even trying to watch tutorials. So I watched a couple hours of Scott Manly work magic doing fun stuff that just happened to have docking in almost every episode, that some of it must have worn off. Now I can do both. Pretty much climbed the hill and it's just lay down and roll the rest of the way
  2. pretty simple thing really, and while I feel it has likely been suggested before (but is not on the already suggested thread so I'm safe) Can all the "things" a module can do when you right click on it in space be available in the action group menu. It just seems reasonable that if i can control said feature through endless mouse clicks of tiny, possibly rotating parts, that I could control them through the customizable single button interface that is already built into the game.
  3. Very Simple would be nice to have a little arrow on an objects orbit line to indicate what direction it's going with out having to warp speed to see how it moves. Some times I get lost on what orientation i have the camera set at or if i had mixed up my launch/capture vectors, and you was a lot of fuel finding out which way is up so to say. And it shouldn't be to hard to implement.

  5. as they said I've had this problem before when building big rockets, for me it was usually one of two things. either fuel lines or tanks that are stacked on top of each other break apart, making it so one engine doesn't get all the fuel from its stack. to check for Tank breaks as soon as you notice the fuel not being even hit f3 and check your logs and see. to fix the problem you might have struts that are keeping one level of tanks rigid while the other oscillates, causing stress in between.
  6. I'm not complaining about "how you do things" I'm talking about just having a list telling me such things are even possible, and what buttons to push to do them. Think of it like you were playing an FPS game but the tutorial never told you you could throw grenades by pressing ctrl+j. Might not be the most useful key combo but man do you want to know at least that you can if it's needed,
  7. pretty simple It would be really nice to be able to remap all of the controls in the settings window instead of just the ones you want us to. Barring that it would be great to have a list of all the controls period.....so those new ones like us could find out that we can do things like transfer fuel with alt+right clock. Thank you Scott Manly for mentioning something "Every one knows" except for all the new players that haven't heard.

  9. the problem with Escape pods is the problem with KSP in that parts aren't sucure so to add in an extra decoupler on the main stack means so much more chances of failing that I'd lose more Kerbals testing the abort than it could ever safe
  10. My first Succesful landing was a fantastic failure. After finaly figuring out how to make a space craft orbit I decided it was TO THE MUN. So i built a a gigantic hodgepodge of random junk that hurts to look at now and sent it to the mun. Then I learned the joys are Time Warp and completely shot past my Mun encounter window. Luckily The gravity assist pointed me more or less right at minimus and with plenty of dV I went Kerbal. So in the end my first Landing on a celestial body was Minimus. Who needs the Mun!.....I then launched a second craft and accomplished my first goal........All Kerbals diligently guarding the historic first landings at these locations......maybe they will get releaved at some point.
  11. Well I've gotten pretty good so far with getting to space and back down but not so great at landing spacecraft with precision. So I built my Kerbal recovery craft. Not sure on the total range but really only need it for the main island, I'm not that bad. It includes a rover incase I can't find a decent landing spot near Kerbals. Kerbals returning actualy are meant to ride the rover back. Also included is a bank of Seperatrons to act as JATO rockets for the return take off. The lander legs are set at the level for the clamp-a-tron that hold the rover on, so I deploy those then lower the main landing gear to dock the rover. Which can drive under the rear engine. I'm happy with it........for now.
  12. So with the new space plane hanger I noticed there is a Yellow tape outline that vaguely resembles a plane. has anyone built something that fits the outline and flown it?
  13. well if you wanted it to be like NASA you should scrap the space program altogether and focus on real life issues like Global Warming.....because that's a thing....
  14. Me: Turns on ASAS and launches rocket. "Wow this is flying pretty stable think i can do this one." Me: Turns off ASAS "OH GOD, It's not stable. NOT STABLE AT ALL!" Me: Turns ASAS back on ASAS: "No." Me: "Wait, WHAT? But you were just able to to this WHATS CHANGED?" ASAS: "I'm sorry but you turned me off, I'm on lunch now. Fly it your self."
  15. Player: Engines to fulll.....Turn on ASAS....Start engines....Release docking clamps, "And we're OFF" ASAS: "OH, I remember this game! Let me help". Up, Down, Left, Right, A, B, Start Player: "Uhh... ASAS. Theres no cheat codes in this game...."

I think I built something similar to what your talking about to practice docking with. http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/aleis52/media/2013-05-23_00001_zps9da7a372.jpg.html basically built a Lifter Rocket with 4 sub probes connected with decouplers each with their own Probe core. The decouplers were set at the last point in the staging rocket and actually controlled with either Key bindings or just moused and decoupled. I would suggest using this addon http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/subassembly-saver-loader/ to build each individual probe balanced to make launching easier. While i made mine connect in the middle it's a real pain to use that addon in that way. best to just build your parasite probes from the bottom up and connect them from the bottom of the engines than try and make them connect to the side with that addaon. I hate myself and wasted a lot of effort in trying to make the rocket look the way I wanted it to instead of what was easiest.
  17. did you add a probe "core" to your rover. anything i've wanted to control after it detached from the main ship i just added one of those with a small battery maybe a solar panel or two and the game seems to be pretty good on making it accessible to me later. That is through the Space Center. there is a limit on what the game will let you quick switch to. To include that random piece that still had a core connected after crashing into the planet. At which point i just loaded it up in Space center and "Ended flight" to remove the debris.....maybe i cheat but i'm still learning and i'll use whats available to me.

  19. Hmm must have hit a bug it really didn't want me to be able to do that. Must have decided to rebel after I made it calculate all those vectors and not use them.
  20. Pretty simple problem that doesn't have an obvious answer to me any way. How do i delete maneuver nodes BEFORE I pass them. Sure once the node is used you click and there is the red "X" but i've pretty well clutter my flight plan with faulty nodes and would like to clear them before i get there. However the red "x" do normaly get rid of them doesn't show until after you pass it and pressing "delete" as would seem logical takes you back to stage view.
  21. So i'm still new but I feel I've figured out the basics of regular rockets, so i thought i'd try space planes. After finding out that they all need the gimbals turned off so it's not impossible to fly I now notice another thing. Why do all of my planes turn to the left while going down the runway when it's built perfectly symmetrical. and right as they start to get lift they they all try and roll clockwise. I've tryed with different engine type with and with out vertical tail fins in case they had a "Lift"
