  1. Total dV expended. I'll get some pictures later.

Doing some simple calculations it seems like your rocket looses about 1677 m/s delta-v to atmospheric drag, which seems alright to me. The payload is about 3.2% of the total mass as mentioned before. To put this into context, the space shuttle is somewhere between 3.1-4.3% depending on the final orbit parameters(this is counting the orbiter itself as payload). Looking at the numbers it seems to be okay but I am sure there are other factors which I have missed. In KSP the launch happens from the equator so there is a pretty big speed boost from that.

  2. I've got SUPER detailed textures, normal and height maps for the Earth, Moon and Mars (leftovers from my work on Orbiter's graphics plugin). The problem is they are HUGE (2-3 Gb for EACH of texture maps, normal maps and height maps) - about 14 Gb in total or so - don't remember exact numbers.

I wish one day we will be able to have such terrain in KSP, but that's going to take a looong time especially that we don't even have 64 bit support. :(

  3. Success! After 5 hours of testing and modifying my vessel and its launch profile I have been able to place my first small satellite in a stable orbit around real sized Kerbin!

Thanks to everyone who is working on Real Solar System and other realism mods. This game is soo much more fun this way!

  4. For the past few days I have been trying to make a vessel that is capable of positioning my small hexasat in a 400km LEO orbit. The payload is pretty small weighing just about 0.2 tons. The whole vehicle is 4 stage and it has a delta-v of around 10.2 km/s. No matter what launch profile i tried, it never reached stable orbit. Any ideas? 20fuv85.jpg

  5. This one appears a whopping 25,631 times..... no idea where this is coming from... unless you alt-tabbed out a lot in this area.... that can cause rendering device errors but re-entering the game usually makes it stop until you alt-tab out again...

Skipped rendering frame because GfxDevice is in invalid state (device lost)

Yes i did alt-tab, so that's definitely the cause of that error.

  6. That never happened for me, I know however 0.20(?) added two ways of doing symmetry, there's kinda relative to the whole ship and relative to part. In your case this would be part, because the clamps attach at equal distances from top/bottom instead of at the same place. Either that's what's wrong, or you rotated the part.

Well this seems to happen no matter what I do. On the screenshot I simply added a tank part (without rotating it or etc) and attached 2 clamps in symmetry.
