  2. Looks good. When the we get enough entries, we'll have a tournament. You'll have to post the .craft. Good idea. And talking is fine as long as it's related to tournaments. The discussion thread is for discussing designs, etc. Those are cool. Given by how the fights have gone, if the Sea Rat's takeoff is a substantial difference, I would pick that. The takeoff speed has been extremely important in the past tournaments. Also, like I said above, you'll have to chose one to enter in the next tournament.
  3. I'm so conflicted right now. I have one craft like the Hellion B, and it performs so much better than my Blizzard, but I atleast want to retain the Blizzards look, because I love them so much, but I want the Hellion's performance. Gr.

ALSO, PM ME IF ANY CHANGES TO THE OP NEED TO BE MADE. THANK YOU. Welcome to Top Gun AI, in which you will pit your best fighter designs against another, in a single elimination style tournament. May the best engineer win. For those who are unfamiliar with Top Gun AI, and haven't seen the other thread yet, the premise is simple; you will build a plane, within a certain point limit, and then the tournament host will draw random seeds, and the designs will fight. Usually, each match is a best of 5. All tournaments will be recorded and posted on YouTube, with #TopGunAI in the title. Rules (ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON THE TOURNAMENT -No mods. (Except for BDarmory) -Fights are 2v2 -Fights are best of 5 -The last flying aircraft wins. If both are destroyed in the sky, the round is considered a draw. -There is no part hard cap, however try to keep it low, for the sake of our PC's -ALL DESIGNS MUST HAVE A COCKPIT, PROBES ARE NOT ALLOWED. -REACTION WHEELS ARE ALSO NOT ALLOWED. They are stupidly OP. -All designs must be withing the point limit, which is stated below. -All turrets MUST be fixed forward -One entry per tournament, unless stated otherwise. -No clipping fuel tanks or engines. They can be slightly clipped for looks, but not completely inside each other. Structural parts and ammo, guns, gear, etc. Is ok. Wings are OK as long as you're not putting all your wings inside the plane. Point System 60 point limit -AIM-120 - 4 -AIM-9 - 6 -All other missiles - 4 -Flares - 3 Chaff - 2 Hammers - 20 -Ammo Can - 4 points (all types) -.50 cal turret - 4 points -GAU 8 30mm - 14 points -M230 - 6 points -Vulcan Hidden - 7 points -Vulcan Turret - 7 points -Goalkeeper - Banned -Abrams Cannon - Banned -M102 - Banned -Millennium Cannon - Banned ABL Laser - Banned The points are also subject to change based on tournament rules, and if we notice trends in designs. (Countermeasure spam, etc.) Setting up matches If you are not already aware, BDarmory has an AI system, that is able to fly and fight planes. (As well as ground vehicles, but that is not our concern) To set up the match, all planes will be Hyperedited into position, and then the host will quicksave, and start the match. Star position will differ depending on who is hosting the tournament, but will usually be one of these. I should note, I will not be hosting the tournaments, I do not possess a powerful enough PC. t3hJimmer is the one to run the tournaments usually, but anyone can as long as they know how PLEASE KEEP ALL NON- TOURNAMENT RELATED DISCUSSION ON THE DISCUSSION THREAD.   6. That's pretty funny. My Blizzard also needs to go on a weight loss program. I'm not sure if I need the slats on the front of the wings... I removed them once, and the plane was SLIGHTLY less maneuverable, but lighter... hm...
  7. That was nice! You've got a great plane. Problem is, the AI doesn't understand how to take advantage of faster planes. If a real pilot was in there, he would have just boom and zoomed my planes to death. Still, great fight! And my plane still sucks at rolling. I really need to fix that. I also would have found it extremely funny if Blizzard 1 had accidentally shot down Blizzard 2 at the end of round 1.

Edit #5000, completely unrelated, but I just kamikazed my plane into the astronaut complex, and went on EVA when I was lined up. Guess where Jeb lands? In the pool. I died.

  10. Starring my old and worthless Blizzard! Now we have the F-42 Blizzard B! Anyways, there's an easier way. Just rotate the planes the desired direction in the hangar.
  11. So colmo, you should really update the OP with the rules, and points, now that we have it established. So we're clear, No reaction wheels, and pilots required yes? Also, are we changing the points for anything? I personally think missile cost should be reduce and countermeasure cost increased. You?
  12. Use Hyperedit to put them in position. And to everyone, what do you set your AI's steer factor to? I set mine to 20 because it seems to really help at dodging missiles and maneuvering, but the AI's aim is iffy.

  15. I have pretty swept back wings, but they are covered in ailerons. I also have canards. I'll try sweeping the wings back a bit less. - - - Updated - - - It's still quite meh. That looks like enough...
  16. Guys, how do I make my roll rate better? My plane is 12 tons and I don't want to add much weight, and I already ran out of fuel in one round...
  17. I think cockpits should be required. And, we need to work on executing the actual fights. I'll be frank, QuesoExplosivo's fights weren't exactly fair. There was too much of a delay between each plane starting. What we need to do is activate all the AI pilots, but not the engines, and then quickly switch through them all while hitting space.
  18. Hm. I watched the Blizzard vs Hellion one, it would have been nice if you activate the pilots, and then quickly switched though them pressing the stage button. By the time you got my Blizzards going the Hellions were already in the air. At least for the first one.
  19. Ah I see. Thanks then. I still think NEAR was a silly concept, but oh well. Would have been funny if there was no difference.
  20. A hidden Vulcan is already 9 points. I'd say reduce missile cost to 2 and up countermeasures to 6. Something like that.
  21. I read a quote in someone's sig from ferram that said NEAR was the same as FAR. I couldn't find the actual post from ferram though.
  22. Okay. Do you have the video of my loss? I thought AMRAAMS were more effective. And I Ali thought guard range was up to the tournament host, because it always resets itself to default. Or do I just have to change it in the hangar? Thanks though. I would have hoped my plane would be maneuverable enough to get in guns range. But the roll rate is horrible. I don't know how to fix it
