    Oh gimme a break

It's all about the DLC and nothing more.

    The sentence

means that you can purchase and download the DLC (as in: virtual goods) through the website or any given way by the publisher (as in: Online Services and Software).

    Period.

    /out

It also pertains to the inclusion of microtransactions. Do not downplay the significance of this.

Knowing 2K, this will also mean the introduction of DRM is to be expected.

No it doesn't. what is the point of having a simulation of 10e25 starsystems evolving or a rndom natural reality, a random natural reality takes up alot less processing power. These coputers would have to track every subatomic particle at the planks scale in all of these systems you talking about a machine with1E200 memory and a processing speed at 10E40 and around 1E190 processors.

I know I'm restating the same thing again, but you are again thinking within terms of our own reality while there is no guarantee that applies in any way to the aforementioned 'base' reality.

Thing is. It doesn't matter if our laws of physics are fabricated or not, as soon as it breaks down or starts giving strange results. Then you know you are in a simulation. It doesn't tell you anything about whats outside of the sim, but it does tell you if you are in one or not.

It does matter, because if different laws apply in the 'base' reality, then why couldn't a flawless simulation be created? And how can you prove that these strange results aren't normal or natural or have anything to do with it being a simulation?

To be honest, when you reach this point the concept of a simulation begins to lose its meaning.

    Actually, somebody did just that:

    science thingy:

If I understand correctly. It seems to be that a simulation starts to break down when you go really deep into physics. So that means that you could calculate whether or not you are in a simulation. I think

Problem is though, as I pointed out in my OP, is that all these 'how-to-know-if-you-are-inside-a-computer' things is that they all bank on such a simulation being constrained by the same limits as the known universe.

What I mean is, how do we know that mathematics and quantification as a whole isn't a fabricated construct? How do you know the nature of reality within a simulation is different from that outside of it? If so, how do you define 'outside'?

In the case of such things, these experiments are basically useless.

    (and many other sources besides)

If he really does think this, then I think there are probably a number of flaws in his reasoning, most notably that such a simulation would be a reliable representation of a 'base reality'.

Any particular thoughts on the subject?

  6. Probably a bit boring of me to list this, but Half-Life 2 and it's subsequent episodes are definitely some of the best games I have ever played. I generally dislike linear games like It, but HL2 is fantastic.

Other games from that time period that I still like to play are Star wars Battlefront 2, Rome and Medieval total war, Company of Heroes, and Day of Defeat Source.

It may or may not count, but I've been really enjoying Homeworld remastered lately. I'm putting it here as it is a remake of the original games; and I have also tried the both of the original versions that come with it.

I also played Theme Hospital a lot when I was younger.

  7. Like it's predecessors, Arma 3 is very much the KSP of first person shooters.

It realistically simulates many aspects of physics; it has realistic aerodynamics, ballistic physics, sound simulation, among other things.

It is a sandbox game. It has an official campaign and scenarios, but it also has a built in editor to create custom ones. The game is also fully moddable.

I bought it about two years ago when it came out on Steam in alpha, and it has since become one of my favorite games.

I also have Arma 2, but 3 is the one I play the most.

    Your opinions?

  8. I know that this particular update does not break saves, but I would like to comment that Squad should put some more consideration to preventing save-breaking updates.

I agree that if it is necessary for an update to do this in order to deliver everything it needs to, then so be it; but as KSP is now in full release, this shouldn't be as much of a problem as it was during alpha.

It was often very frustrating for me to set up infrastructure within the local Kerbin system, prepare for an interplanetary mission, and then have to scrap it all due to an update (I progress slowly).

  9. Is it possible to make ATM ignore certain testures? Currently it breaks almost all GUI icons that are added by mods, and IVAs like ALCOR and KSO have blurry text on their dash panels, which makes them unusable.

It still saves much RAM, mainly by recompressing. Can't play without it - not that I have much mods, but still... And OpenGL is incompatible with Scatterer, which I am addicted to.

Yes, by editing the corresponding config to make an exclusion.

If there isn't a config for the mod, make one.
