  1. The second one occured to me as well, but I'm for either of those actually, I don't mind other aliens. And no, not to serve no other purpose, science points are a purpose. And new techs maybe.
  2. This would be a nice addition to career mode, a fogged map that you need to actually explore to know what's out there. But you should also be able to do parts of it with observatories on Kerbin.
  3. Is this Kethane stuff a mod?
  4. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/58887-Upgrades-%28Kerbal-training-buildings%29 this thread pretty much covers the second part of your suggestin. As for the planes, I wouldn't know, I'm not much of a plane guy in this game.
  5. I'm not sure about the piloting part, I don't think I'd use auto-pilot even if it was so miniscule, but I would love to see Kerbals giving science bonuses if they are trained.
  6. I am so intrigued right now. But I can't even get to minmus yet. I am playing career mode though. Time for trying harder.
  7. I actually have nothing to add, agreed on all points. One addition might be that it would require more energy to transmit data from planets that are further away, as they should give more science points as well.
  8. And on that point, seeing other object's Apoapsis and Periapsis would also be helpful.
  9. I guess that's subjective. But wouldn't it be awesome to read decrypted science reports in Kerbalish, so you'd actually have to decrypt it twice to understand it? Edit: OK, on second thought that would be overdoing it, especially since not many people would know that Kerbalish is reversed Spanish. And parts descriptions are in English as it is anyway, so...
  10. Yes, that's precisely the kind of thing I was aiming at. Could have places where you could predict clues with shadows the sun makes, etc. Well I agree on that, but Aliens could have had centuries more advanced technology, so they could find things we could never. Still, I'm glad the discovery system is being planned.
  11. In the spirit of doing MORE stuff once you get to your actual destination, I thought about what would be an actual incentive to exploring the entire planet other than a few different dirt or water samples. Now I understand the devs said no aliens will make it into the 1.00 release, but what about remains and traces of an Alien culture? Let's take Dune for example, it could have some easily visible ground feature, an unusual crater of sorts, or a giant arch or something similar, so you attempt to land close by out of curiosity. Upon further exploration, you uncover wall writings (in caves, or out of them, no matter) in a language that would require decrypting. Upon decrypting, it would give you clues as to where the next not so obvious site would be, whether it be on the same planet (If the puzzle is for that planet only), or maybe some completely different planet in the system, ending up on a final planet, even a planet that would otherwise not even be visible on your map until you uncovered all the data about its location, with big remains of an alien civilization. The reward for completing such a puzzle could be, other than bigger than usual amount of science points, a secret branch in the tech tree otherwise not unlock-able by any means (such as often mentioning light speed engines for possible future multiple star systems) This is brainstorming of course, it would require a lot of planning, but it would take the term exploration to whole new levels. Having just 1 of puzzles like these with 5+ sites would add so much to the gameplay, that I can't imagine how awesome it would be to have more. Thoughts?
  12. Already have actually, believe me. I never thought I'd get so absorbed in this. ''Love all the people posting before reading whole thread <3 Good move op, this is lovely peace of software that just keeps giving, best investment in fun ever. GL with Mun landing game crash, I haven't had game crash this year (and hours of gametime just keep pliling up). '' It stopped happening on it's own, but only after I restarted the computer, restarting the game didn't fix it for some reason. Odd. ''My biggest beef with the game is that there isn't a helluva lot to do once you get where ever it is your going. Science was a start, but it would be nice if the biomes provided a lot more to discover. Evidence of running water in basins, what makes up the atmosphere, soil composition and so on. I know they have a little of that, but a lot lot more would be welcome. '' Yeah, but I would have guessed that to be the slowest transitioning feature into the game. I'd love to see some planetary or interplanetary puzzle thingies too in the future. I just might make a suggestion out of this.
  13. Agreed. Was trying a docking procedure, only to realize my orbit's direction is opposite of my targets.
  14. I see, and what about crash reports, where should I send those? The game said it generated a crash report (that happened several times under the same mun landing when I try to exit my craft), and that I should send it to the devs, anyone know where exactly?
  15. Bah, I failed miserably and it took a whole lot longer than I thought. I'll give it another go tomorrow, busy today.
  16. No member bug hunting? That's a shame, I was confused not to see the bug report forum anywhere, thought it was hidden. I don't have a big problem with slow updates, I have plenty of other games to play if I get saturated by the current version. Mods like radio chatter and clouds and light is a mod I can use, I do cosmetic mods, but I avoid anything that alters gameplay anyhow. I might reconsider on making it harder though, but not any time soon. And I have been really surprised by the activity of this forum, it's as if this game is old as time.
  17. You sure you can't do it within 5 Kms, that sounds quite enough for a ship rendezvous? I haven't personally attempted this, but it's quite possible, you just need to practice that intersecting a lot I guess. I have 2 guys around the sun that I plan on rescuing one day Edit: Oh, 5000 Kms, nvm then. This tutorial helped me understand ship rendezvous a lot, so it might help you too. It's only Kerbin orbit, but take a look.
  18. Yeah yeah, EVERY game board I've ever been on has that "legend". 3 months is indeed a lot, but if the updates are such quality as it seems, I guess it's worth the wait.
  19. I was going to do this, but my exact processor was already submitted. Would it make a (considerable) difference if I did submit anyway?
  20. Alright already, you bought me people, I'll buy it, jeez xD I'll try snatching it on steam before the discount ends, unless my credit card company decides to be a dick. And a really thriving community here I might add. Really dedicated forumers. Looking forward to being a part of it. And there was word of colonization AND mining too? Sweet, sounds like career mode is really going to be more complex than I thought. And since I'm new here, how much time does it mostly take between patches, assuming they are regular sized? Edit: I've also noticed I can't change my avatar picture, is it because I'm a new comer, or I just suck at finding it? Edit2: I suck at finding it.
  21. That's the kind of mod I can use, I'll take a look around for it. Thanks.
  22. As long as it doesn't go beyond 40$ after release, I can easily afford it, and I will go as high as 60 as well, so I don't worry about that. And though I appreciate companies that allow so much modding, I prefer playing the game as it is given by the developers, I believe they just do a better job most of the time. That being said, if other star systems are to be an option it would have to include much stronger tech, since getting to farthest planets right now is painful as it is let alone a different star system... and BACK (optimistic) Trolling I presume?
  23. Oh I know, I have been watching them. I'm actually learning most of the game from watching since much of the intermediate stuff can't be done in demo.
  24. I'm currently on the Demo, I have a policy against buying games until they reach 1.00 version so to speak, but for what I've seen so far, I am completely in love with it. I've only been playing for 2 days, and I'm getting the grasp of all the basics, and moving on to intermediate stuff like docking. Now I'm interested how much MORE awesome can this awesome game get. I've already found some info about stuff that devs said were not going to be in the game ever (no multiplayer, meh, but no aliens makes me a sad puppy). There's a feature I haven't found nothing about yet, and one I would love to see even more than aliens, and that's outer stellar travel (If that's how it's said), meaning traveling to a different star system as we currently have only one. Now don't get me wrong, these current planets and their moons are already a challenge enough to explore all, but I would really love if this game could go more into sci-fi field to make traveling light years possible (Heck, I'd travel to different galaxies if I could too). Combine this with some random star and/or planet generating algorithms instead of only preset we have now, and you have an infinite exploration playground. Cheers. Edit: More in-game customization is another thing I'd really want, naming and giving different looks to your Kerbals, changing spacecraft colors, etc.
