well your not the only juggernaut out there wolfman29 im bringing this monster of a lifter to the party meet my eeloo Heavy lifter mk3 with a payload to orbit and deorbit itself

I have problems calculating mass into tons i definitely have plenty of delta v though to get it sky borne though ill post more pictures when i have the chance tomorrow

be warned this might take half the page for pics. And usually i would have All my reaction wheels online but due to the rules i only had my payload reaction wheel online and let me tell you DAM it was hard to steer that danged thing into orbit ESPECIALLY IN ORBIT i also forgot to de-fill my 4 engine batteries but i did cut them of from the main battery charge. but i do have a strong re-gen system in place even when there is no sun so the main battery stayed topped off. (that's until the last stage...ions engines)after 11 corrections to my orbit the lowest ap that i could do by hand was 70K orbit. thats the best i could do without de orbiting myself.

second stage depleted and diched third and final part of the lifter was for the rest of the manuvering. before i release the payload.

Final maneuver before payload release had about 1200 units of fuel left in the tank.

had to tweak my craft in space again and my Nuke stage was released into space and mass has updated i also had to disable the ions completely and put them as the last stage.

if i want to re-enable the ions again that would be for ditching for re entry only.

and i used probably around 10-35 units of fuel and oxidizer for the efficient burn of the nuke stage that's cutting it close right there :D hope this counts on the first try.

Can't judge the entry until I know the pad mass, Lego8_bit. Can you share a pic in the VAB or on the pad with the KER window open fully (i.e. not compact mode in the VAB, the Vessel tab like in your later pics on the pad)?

I calculate that as 7.08% payload fraction, added to the board. I couldn't see the name of your rocket, can you let me know and I'll update it?

its eeloo Heavy lifter mk3. ill proably update the payload next time around so it stays solid.

Ok Nef I needs some tips on how you got a rocket with 2586 dv and a TWR of 2.25 into orbit. My current rocket is 29.67% 2651 dv with 2.57 TWR on the pad and I still can not get it to orbit :(

Quick question - is UbioZur Welding allowed here? I'm working on a new rocket (HUGE payload, about the same efficiency I had as before), but the part count is killing me.

Sorry, no. This challenge is intended to determine what can be done with unmodified stock parts, reducing part count by consolidating parts sidesteps that (and changes how the rocket behaves as fuel tanks are drained).

So update - I finally did what I set out to do today. Not only beat my previous efficiency (if only by a few fractions of a percentage), but also more than double my previous mass load! Without further ado, I give you the Juggernaut IX. I started with the goal of lifting 1kt into LKO. And then that wasn't enough. So I built the Juggernaut IX, and this happened....

With the payload weighing in at a massive 1519.96t, not only is my payload bigger than every single ship on the high scores here, it's bigger than many of them combined. Further, it's even more efficient than my previous, Juggernaut VI! With a launch mass of just over 6kt (6022.68t), it gives me a payload fraction of 25.24%! Not enough to bump me up in the ranks, but enough to beat my previous score. And the fact that I had just a bit of fuel left at the end of that launch means I could probably have squeezed another 0.1% out of it.... But I won't do that again! There are so many parts that it takes about 6 real seconds for 1 in game second of launch. That entire process was about an hour from launch to orbit!

Note: You could pretty easily lift an entire space station into 150km orbit with this thing. If you limit it to 1200t or so, you have plenty of fuel to raise the orbit.

A fine entry, Val, not only a new mass-to-Rapier record but also the new highest fraction for an SSTO. Well done, added to the board.

I actually just increased the mass-to-Rapier record to 34 t, but I've yet to see if I'm able to translate that into increased payload fraction.

Edit: And it's also at a point where I don't think it can be flown precisely enough without some sort of autopilot. It's so damn sensitive to pitch changes. Just slightly off and you lose speed, instead of gaining.

Payload to Orbit: 28.5 t (7 full Smal Ore Tanks + 1 partial + struts)

Payload fraction: 45.69 %

Val, it is now confirmed that you have unlimited time and patience.

Seriously. The C-1 payday takes 40 frikin' minutes to get to orbit!
