MechJeb dV Displays Incorrect

Recommended Posts

Ever since updating to 1.0.2, I've found that MJ's delta-v calculations for asparagus staging longer works correctly in the VAB.

It used to be:

  • Stage 0: 2000 dV <-- 'payload'/interplanetary stage
  • Stage 1: 1000 dV <-- upper stage to LKO; center stack of asparagus
  • Stage 2: 3000 dV <-- launch stage; center stack + boosters

Now when I'm playing, MechJeb displays this;

  • Stage 0: 2000 dV
  • Stage 1: 0 dV
  • Stage 2: 3800 dV

I'm still doing asparagus correctly: fuel lines inward, ejecting booster stages, etc. It's like MJ has forgotten how to calculate asparagus dV since the update.

Anyone else has this happen to them? What am I doing wrong?

What version of MJ do you have? It had this issue shortly after 1.02 was released but I believe it was corrected.

Check your fuel lines.

There must be an issue in the fuel lines connecting the stages. You might have a fuel line clipping through a stage separator or fairing that is interrupted even if apparently connected. It happens sometimes when you reload your craft and struts and lines are "reconstructed". You can fix it in this craft manually editing the persistence file. I would advice you to move the suspicious line a little far away from the clipping part before your next launch or simply rebuild them. It fixed the issue for me.

Or you just had a separation issue and the lines are interrupted due to the accident.
