Mechjeb orbit around the mun tutorial

Recommended Posts

I use mechjeb going from low kerbin orbit to Mun,

First you mark Mun as target then select an Hohmann transfer to target. I tend to reduce the burn a bit to I get directly into low Mun orbit.

You can do an correction burn where you set closest distance to target in km if needed.

Then warp to SOI change, afterward you select circulate at next Pe.

If you do the correction burn and no adjustment if the Hohmann transfer node it will cost you say 30 m/s more but this way it can be done entirely in mechjeb.

does anyone know a quick and easy way to get a circular orbit around the mun using mechjeb? (and only mechjeb, i can do it the other way but i want it to require little user input)

Have the Manoeuvre Planner open. Once you are in Mun's SOI, click on the "manoeuvre node to" button

and change it to "change inclination", if you need to (IE if you need to change the inclination)

Leave "New inclination" set to 0 degrees, but change it to "after a fixed time" which you also set to 0.

Execute that node

Select "change periapsis"

and enter a new periapsis height, say 30km, then select "after a fixed time" and make that 0 seconds.

Execute that node

Select "circularize" and "at the next periapsis"

Execute that node and you're finished.
