KSP 1.0.5: crashes and lighting glitches

Recommended Posts

Hello there,
I am on a Mac and KSP 1.0.5 is having problems.

One of two things would happen:

1. there is a slight lighting glitch with the shadows in the VAB and in flight. i figured going back to the VAB/SPH to update the shadow would fix it, but when i clicked revert to VAB/SPH, the game crashed.
2. same shadow glitch happens, except when i revert things are fine. but when i exit to the space center scene, the lighting glitches out into a bunch of crazy colors, and then it crashes when i exit to the menu.

this isnt new for me, the same thing happened with my 1.0.4 save too, and i am sure that it happens with stock KSP as well. i figured it is something to do with the mac itself.

in my 1.0.5 save i have the following mods installed:
Firespitter plugin
Kerbal attachment system
Kerbal aircraft expansion
Kerbal joint reinforcement
Hyperedit
Module manager
Kerbal inventory system
Realchute
SpaceY lifters
SpaceY expanded

So i thought that i found the problem.

i realized that my game was on full res so i changed it to half and it worked like a charm.

However, today i was testing with the scatterer mod and the same effect happened.

I checked the debug window and there were no null reference acceptions

Does anyone know how to fix it?

The crashes happen because of a memory leak when doing scene changes, like from the KSC to SPH, Control Center, or VAB and back to KSC. There is no memory leak with the thermal system in 1.0.5; but there were in previous editions as far back as 1.0.0  If you are running STEAM, verify the local files as sometimes that will help with other issues that affect game performance.
