Solar pannels blocked by SSME

Recommended Posts

So, I have this shuttle replica, and I have some solar pannels in the cargo bay that I deploy now and then to recharge the batteries.  I also have 3 Vector engines at the back of the ship.

Vectors blocked my solar pannel's access to the sunlight at one point, which is normal and fine.  However, the solar pannel's right-click menu displayed:

"XYZ solar pannels blocked by SSME"

Now you and I both know that that means Space Shuttle Main Engine, but nowhere else in the game that the average player will see is the term SSME used.  Not in the part name, not in the part discription.   From what I gather, it is the "part configuration" (listed here) that tells the game to call the Vector SSME.  Unless you tell the player that the Vector is a SSME somewhere, being told later "the SSME is blocking Kerbin or the solar pannel or whatever" isn't of much use.

Suggestion: Put "SSME" somewhere in the part description, so a player will know it will be reffered as such later in the game.

-or-

Change the right click feedback to say "S3 KS-25 Vector Engine is blocking your solar pannel"

It's a programming issue that the 'blocked by' message uses the 'part name' rather than the 'title'. Since changing the part name causes all sorts of issues, I think it'd be more wise to use the title since that is more well known.

Indeed.
