i need some silly stuff to do

Recommended Posts

Well... Fling a Kerbal into Jool, do a rover race around a Mun arch, build fireworks, mess with gimbal (see my sig), build a humongous spaceship that will fail ten times before it works (Basically my mission report), or build a tower and put it on Duna.

Or you could just build a statue and blow it up.

Snake rocket: verticaly launched train (with flexible linkages).

Garden gnome grand tour: make a rocket that looks like a garden gnome and get a screenshot of it on as many planets as you can.

Space toaster for structural panel toast?

Project parasol: try to make an arteficial solar eclipse (might need an outr planet so the sun is smaller)

I might refer you to the following list of recent-ish silly challenges:

Flying Brick challenge

Spin to Win! The momentum tether challenge

Flat rocket challenge

Great Canadian Buoyant Bellyflop Challenge

Kerbal Powered Flight challenges

Backwards Plane

Scorpion Tank Design Challenge

Strange SSTO Challenge

Build-a-Rover "Station Style" (Now open)

Escape Velocity: The Hypersonic Race

Kerbal Insect Wranglers

You've probably seen many of them, but all of them are silly, technically interesting or a lovely cross between the two. Hard to say no!
Cool fireworks, by the way!

Kerbal canon, to space.

I was just thinking about staging cannons. It would be so cool!

This challenge looks rather silly (and probably make some nice, cinematic moments): Great Canadian Domino Effect Challenge

I may happen to like that challenge just a bit :) .

Well, whatever you decide @EnderBOSS555009, have fun!

Okay, I have an idea for a serious challenge, but not enough time and will to see it through, so if you, or anyone else wants to pick it up, feel free.

Reverse Solar Limbo.

Goal: Enter Sun orbit of specified parameters:

Inclination: between 260 and 280 degrees.
Apoapsis: AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.
Remaining orbital parameters: arbitrary, pick what you like.

The original Solar Limbo concentrated on heat resistance, making delta-V a secondary (though still important) factor.

This one... I don't know if heat will even be much of a factor, except maybe if you do Oberth maneuver against the Sun. But the delta-V requirements will be insane.

Get to, land on, and return from, the Mun with a manned mission.

The catch? You can only use the parts from the first three R&D levels:

- Start
Basic Fin
Mk1 Command Pod
RT-5 "Flea" Solid Fuel Booster
Mystery Goo™ Containment Unit
Modular Girder Segment
Mk16 Parachute

- Basic Rocketry
LV-T45 "Swivel" Liquid Fuel Engine
RT-10 "Hammer" Solid Fuel Booster
FL-T100 Fuel Tank

- Engineering 101
SC-9001 Science Jr.
Communotron 16
TR-18A Stack Decoupler

PS. I plan on challenging myself with this once I get the entire R&D tree.
