I want to shoot myself in the

Recommended Posts

I had the same problems, and I had been using 3dsmax for 10 years, it wasn't a user error it was simply an over-fluffled sequence of events and tutorials containing old information, old screenshots of max and the plugin export screen..

I tore some hair out, then thought.. why not try blender, it's free and it's cant be any worse than 3dsmax.

I had my part exported and textured within about 30 minutes from the first time I ever opened blender, and havent looked back since, in fact havent even started 3dsmax in about 3 months, which sorta does suck because it cost a small fortune.

I'll have to turn down that offer for now as the only thing left is parttools now wanting to export my texture, and I'm about to chop my - off because of how mad I am.

I also use 3DS max and I have been having some different problems with importing motors, but I have been successful with getting a simple part into KSP.

First: for the texture I used paint.net saved as a .png with default settings. If you're using photoshop or something more powerful, that's OK, but .png is my preference and it seems to work.

I don't know if you already did this, but the root folder for your part should appear as such:

exporttools_zps0282c404.png

there should be the Part Tools box below the normal size and stuff.

I also included a picture of how my assets look in the asset window since it can sometimes be important.

I don't know if it's much help but I try.

Scratch everything.

I opened my jpg in paint and saved it as a png, now this huge piece of stinking, dark tonned, slowly moving, semi-liquid **** works.

Thanks to everyone for the help.
