@LayTzz_swe: Can you upload the AGExtEditor.cfg file from your KSP\saves\SaveGameName directory please and which actions are duplicating exactly? (Vessel name and action group number).

That should give me enough information to track down what is going on if it's related to the action itself.

If there's an error in the loading process causing the loading routine to run twice, I would need the KSP\KSP_Data\output_log.txt file to see what error is happening.

Hmmm, the config file looks right, there is only a single action saved per part.

I'll run some tests with those specific pieces to see what happens on my end. The log (Alt-F2) has no error messages in it when this happens?

oh, and btw I removed the duplicates, so that's a bummer, but I can replicate the issue. I will then edit my previous post and you can take a look there again. i will also check the alt+f2.

Quick bug fix release correcting some things I'd missed the first time around.

@LayTzz_swe: This release probably does not fix your issue but if you want to test it I would certainly appreciate it.

edit: Looking at your edited post and testing on my computer, I see that there are several actions that are duplicated. That means the culprit is most likely in the load code somewhere. To trouble shoot that I will need the output_log.txt from KSP\KSp_Data to see if there are any error messages happening. Note the file will probably be too large to copy into the forum, you'll have to look at Dropbox or a similar site to get the file to me.

edit the second: I made a couple of minor tweaks to the action loading code, can you try version 1.31f to see if that fixes the duplicate action issue please? (Download link in this post.)

I hate to gripe, but this 45-second lag while AGX deletes old .cfg files is just killing me. I know I can turn it off, but then I assume I have to go periodically purge them manually. I guarantee I'm going to forget to do that, and then who knows what will happen. Is there any hope of AGX just integrating directly into the save file?

45 second lag? How many save files (files ending in .sfs) do you have?

The delay is proportional to the count of those .sfs files as it has to access each one to see which AGExt#####.cfg to keep for that file and KSP has a very slow disk access method I am limited. If you can delete some of those .sfs files, that would speed up the transition.

Just to confirm, you are only seeing this lag on the first Main Menu -> Space Center switch correct? If it is happening more often then that something is up and I will need bug report to fix whatever is going on.

As for integrating with the data file, that is not currently planned. I actually used to use the data file directly, but a few version ago there was a bug where partModules (the in-data file storage method) would reset to default on vessel load. This resulted in all actions being lost because the default state is no actions assigned. I had to break the actions out into their own file like this just to get them to save at all at the time. While this bug has since been fixed everything works as is so my focus has been adding features.

Having said that, I do consider doing it every so often, the biggest hurdle at this point is I save data in my files that has no equivalent in the default save file. This means that it is not a simple change of saying "save over here instead", I'd actually have to rewrite about 50% of my save load code and that's a huge undertaking.

Hi, I noticed that AGX 1.31f is causing a very disturbing increasing lag during long travels (ex. to Jool) on my Ubuntu (Linux64) install. If I change to Space Center and back the lag disappears.

I tested this on a fresh copy with only Mechjeb and KW Rocketry installed. I hope this helps.

@thegreatgonz: The "persistent.sfs" file is the current save that is updated anytime you scene change. The "quicksave.sfs" is the save file used by the F5-F9 quicksave system. Any other .sfs files in that folder were created by you manually through the Save function in the main menu, or you have an auto-backup/auto-save mod of some sort installed.

Apart from that, is sounds like everything is technically functioning as intended. Due to how KSP modding works, I am stuck using KSP to open those files and that is unfortunately a very slow process. I didn't realize it was 2 files per second slow though. :(

While things are kind of in limbo until KSP 1.0 hits (I don't want to be in the middle of making changes when that happens), I'll see if there is something I can do to mitigate this once things settle down afterwards.

@rainerd66: That is certainly something I need to look into, I will need more details though. Is is a gradually slow-down? Is there anything in the log at all? (Note it might be something in the log upon entering the flight scene, not just at the time the slow-down is happening.) Do you know if it seemed to start with version 1.31f and a previous version was fine? Are you switching ships or is it a single ship on a timewarp voyage?

Can this apply actions to an entire group of a single part type at once? Like say lots of individual drills?

I'm trying to make a kerbinside ground refinery with a massive amount of drills and I don't want to have to set action group for every. single. one. Mirror symmetry helps a bit, but given how it's going to have hundreds of drills......

I think I'll go and check this out to see what it does.

@smjjames: There is an option to select parts by type. Make sure no parts are currently selected by clicking the "Clear List" button, then click the "Show List of Parts" button that appears in the selected parts window. The groups window will change to show a list of all part types on the vessel and when you select a type, all parts of that type will be selected and you can assign the actions.

You would have to repeat this for each type of drill as only one specific type of part can be selected at once, but it saves you from having to click on each drill, or mirror selection of drills, individuality.

Theres apparently some kind of memory leak going on with this mod because I've had massive problems with memory leak while having two large crafts near each other and it increases substantially when I dock the two crafts.

Somewhere around 130 total if you add both crafts.

It also seems to rise when I use RCS.

Alright, I have been unable to positively identify the issue, but I have a couple leads.

Could you guys download Version 1.31g here and then hide the action groups window in flight by left clicking the AGX icon.

When you hide the window, this will also disable a couple of features in the background that (if I'm right) will stop the memory leak from happening.

Note that even with the window hidden, activating action groups via keypress on the keyboard should still work in this version.

Can you give this a test for me and see what it does to you on this issue please?

I'm also still interested in what the log shows (Alt-F2 in game, output_log.txt file on disk) while this issue is happening.

First off - oh man how I do love this mod! This is one of the most useful things I have ever used in game ranking right up there with TCA and MechJeb to help with controlling my various and sundry crafts. Thanks so much for creating and continuing to support this.

Secondly, I too have been getting hammered by the memory leak and didn't even think to check AGExt until today. I'll get the 1.31g installed shortly and do some quick testing and will also grab you an output_log for perusal. I really want to help you track this down as not having it installed is cruel and unusual punishment. :P

I'll get back to you as quickly as I can, most likely later today.

Ok - first test....installed 1.31g and tried hiding the action groups window in flight : memory still leaking away. :(

I did confirm that in this version the alphanumeric entry still works even with the window hidden, but there was no change to the rate of the leak with the window open or closed. Additionally, I have an output_log file for you. As it's 3.6 Mb, how would you like me to get it to you?

Hiding the flight window does not stop the memory leak? That is not what I was hoping to hear as it means I was looking in the wrong place.

On the output_log, dropbox is the usual method of transferring files like that around here, I don't have anything special setup for it myself.

Are you doing anything specific on this, or is just sitting on the launch pad enough? (I just want to make sure that we are all talking about the same thing when we say "memory leak".)

edit: Yikes, I most certainly was looking in the wrong place. I think I've isolated the memory leak and fixed it now, version 1.31h should fix it.

Anyone who can test this for me please do, I've fixed this issue on my system but I need to make sure it works on yours, and that it was not hiding any other issues behind it.

To answer, all I had to do was sit on the launch pad. The leak was as bad just sitting there as flying. Once in the air (or orbit) the leak started getting bad enough that it would stutter consistently about every 2-3 seconds until it ran out of RAM and died.. I'll give the 1.31h a run right now and report back.

That fixed it for me. Great job man. I've been sitting on the pad for about 10 minutes now after sitting on an orbiting craft for about 15 and my memory usage has barely budged. No more than it would at any other time switching scenes back and forth. Thanks so much for working on this and for continuing to put out great mods. Let me know if you still want the output_log. It may be moot now that the issue seems solved but I've got it saved in case you want it. I'll check back on this thread later today/tomorrow.

If everything is working then no, I don't need the output_log.txt any more.

At least, assuming there are no error messages in it, if there is any lines that start "AGX error" or "AGX fail", those are less critical errors that I still need to fix even though they aren't apparent during play.
