I've taken a swing at the Kraken drive already. I just tend to not be able to replicate the kraken drive effects. And due to the odd effects of such a drive, I'm not entirely certain size is a factor on performance.

Why would you expect to? It's the KSP equivalent of the Infinite Probability Drive.
