I only get flight and survey contracts

ok, first of all, I'm not really sure this thread belong here(to be honest, I can't think of a perfectly appropriate forum for this).

Anyway, in my career saves(yes, saves is plural), I only get flight contracts(i.e test this at that altitude and speed) and survey contracts(get at that location, under that altitude).

(I also get the "story" contract like achieving orbit and such).

What can I do to have different contracts?

Why don't I have contract where I have to test a part in space, or building a sat network(never get one of these)?
