  1. I was thinking on running some tests with rapier engines, but my work is cut down due to this thread.
  2. Isn't there a moment at a certain altitude where it doesn't compensate anymore to have so many air intakes? The maximum altitude I got was probably around 20km, but it had 4 engines.
  3. Welcome to Kerbal Tourism Talk. We can discuss about tourism in the game and share some ships. Up until now all I did was a few rockets that take tens (up to 192) tourist into space, so that they can have a better view of the stars/galaxies/planets/space-things and experience 0G. My rockets might not orbit Kerbin, but I thought it was enough for them to reach a very high altitude and land back on Kerbin (safely). You can take a look at my rockets here: I know I didn't land them completely safe, but I didn't want to repeat the take-off. I guess my pc is a bit slow for KSP So I usually take too long to build an interesting rocket and modify it (all those tanks that drop off in a certain order, etc.). Anyway, those were kind of some conceptual designs and I might extend some of those designs and improve them and see what I can come up with. What are you guys planning to do? Build a tourism agency on another planet and take lots of kerbals there and back? A tourism space-station?
  4. Looks really nice.. I'll have to try and build some self-sustainable helicopter like that.
  5. Let's suppose we're taking sane humans into the ship, then crime wouldn't be a problem. People tend to turn to a crime-dependant life when they lack something. In this ship they'd have food, shelter, fun and people to socialize with. So I guess all the basic needs are satisfied. To prevent boredom, they'd need something to distract themselves, to challenge them in a physical and psychological way. I suppose current technology could already be used to challenge these people continuously. So next "issue", would be quarrels/fights, which I think could be fairly common by people misunderstanding each other or saying something a bit more mean and not controlling themselves (in words and actions). If people nearby would help to end the fight, then it wouldn't be a problem. This really depends on the mentality of people in the ship. Probably one of the biggest issues would be people abusing their available resources. So unless everyone in the ship(in 250k people I think it could be hard) would know when to stop drinking, eating, or doing any other thing that someone can get addicted to, that could become a problem. Unfortunately I don't think people would make it to Earth mk2 without control and rules. So actually a militarized "way of life", just like Themohawkninja said, would be best. The chain of command would help maintain people in their places not do anything against the rules (they'd be sent to a court otherwise). Also they'd be kept busy with useless work(when there's no war, keep them busy). Of course that wouldn't prevent everyone from making "mistakes", but I guess it would be the lesser evil (if I could say so). Still, I'm just supposing this ship would have a society like the ones we have on earth.
  6. I guess I can't see that from portugal...
  7. a) If it's a long trip (>1/20th of lifetime expectancy): No. I'd make history with some friends... I recon I couldn't take everybody, but it doesn't make sense that I would have to go alone. If it's a short trip (<1/20th of lifetime expectancy): Sure. I'd visit them from time to time, though, and keep in touch through long-range-space comms. Wouldn't do that alone. c) Definelty not. Wouldn't want to help imprison other people.

  9. Hello I'm from portugal. *looks around to see if anyone raises head* I've bought KSP many months ago and by that time I spent a few dozen hours playing, designing ships and trying to make something really big and powerful that would rocket my kerbals into space. Of course I wasn't succefull. Most of my ships broke apart on launch or had too much weight (had to put throttle really low). The few that did make it into space were soon crashing back on Kerbin. I did manage to make some ships orbit Kerbin, but with little spare fuel. Nonetheless I found the game really entertaining, but had other games to play. Now after all that time I'm back for more KSP adventures! So that's why I decided to join the foums.
