  1. Here you go. You\'ll need the following: C7 - all of the things Damned Aerospace & Robotics - probably all of the things Capt. Slug - Radial Boosters Tiberdyne - Launch Brackets Kosmos - ASAS KW - KW Strut Connector Medium Void Bukerneering - Particle Cannon HSTW - Sunbeam Laser Note to Pilots: 9/0 to rotate engines. For your safety, please offset engines slightly before ignition, in order not to bbq rear thrusters. I would also highly recommend using a joystick, as I have no idea if they are flyable without one.
  2. Oh God straight wings, thank you. The ducted fans are looking sweet as well. A couple of craft made from your awesome parts: A working harrier VTOL aircraft: A Chinook chopper, reasonably flyable, but a bit roll-unstable: A flying salvage platform, extremely stable, even at low speeds: A tilt-wing plane, extremely low stall/landing speed, enough so that you don\'t even need front gear: My God, Moller was right - a brilliant tilt-turbine skycar, stable & easily controllable:
  3. Just a quick question regarding orientation - I\'ve never edited cfgs before, & I\'m trying to get my head around the orientation of a piece. I\'d like to make basically a reversed lander leg - one that is pointing downwards when closed, & opens upward 135 degrees, basically the default leg rotated around 180 degrees planar to the surface it attaches to. I can\'t edit the angY in the file enough to get it 180 degrees around, the most it will go is 90, no matter what number I put in there. Any ideas as to whether it\'s possible without editing the 3d model? Cheers.
  4. My God, that\'s outstanding. The only comment I\'d make would be that he might perhaps be more likely to look either thrilled or terrified, than bored... Otherwise, grand work.
  5. You mean mod parts you\'ve made? You\'d have to ask HarvesteR, seeing as that\'s the official KSP logo in the middle of the patch. I had it in mind as being representative of the game as a whole, rather than just 1 person\'s mods, to be honest...
  6. I got inspired by the ideas in the merchandising concepts thread, & made a basic non mission-specific patch. The motto basically translates as 'Through More Boosters To The Stars', as a ripoff of the RAF motto, although anyone who actually knows Latin is welcome to correct my declension/grammar.
  7. MY GOD. IT\'S FULL OF STARS. I LOVE THIS LITTLE PIECE OF GLORY.
  8. I should think that would apply to pretty much anything built in this game. If you download & fly the basic version of the PHI-?, I think you\'ll find it has enough maneuverability to avoid being hit by pretty much anything.
  9. You mean the flying wing? It can take it, man. I\'ve actually launched the drones, then purposely crashed into one of them (trickier than it sounds), just to see if I could land afterwards. I could.
  10. P0stal Heavy Industries is proud to present the release of it\'s Aerospace Division\'s latest groundbreaking (we only broke it once, honest) achievement - the PHI series of military aircraft. Designed & manufactured to the tightest tolerances (keep pushing, it\'ll fit!) and with today\'s aerial warfare requirements & mission profiles in mind, the PHI series represents a remarkable leap in aerospace technology. First in the series is the PHI-.5, also known as the 'Little Bird', 'The Smallest Plane', & 'I am NOT Getting In That Thing'. Designed for fast local reconnaissance, short-range point interception, & drinking games, the PHI-.5 is small, fast & maneuverable, while still being relatively stable. It may have a slight aversion to negative-aspect maneuvers, but it\'s still easily landable while over the legal limit. Next up is the PHI-16, the 'Phiting Phalkon'. (This is what happens when you let the boffins pick the name...) A fast & highly maneuverable (once ordnance is jettisoned, at least) attack aircraft, the PHI-16 is the solution to today\'s multi-role fighter requirements. Capable of carrying an astonishing array of harmful devices, the PHI-16 in it\'s standard loadout carries 2x Slidewinder Air-to-Anything missiles, 6x Blue42 Not-Very-Smart Bombs, & 2 jettisonable railguns with 4 rounds apiece. Also included is our proprietary launch-aid mechanism* for getting all that good stuff off the ground. *P0stal Heavy Industries takes no responsibility for accidents occuring during interrupted takeoff sequences. Last in the lineup is the PHI-?, the biggest number we could find. A massive flying-wing design, the PHI-? is capable of carry truly obscene amounts of ordnance a truly astonishing distance. Exceptionally maneuverable for such a large aircraft, the PHI-? is also capable of taking enormous damage from friend, foe or pilot & still returning home from a mission in an acceptably small number of pieces. In it\'s standard loadout, the PHI-? can carry an awe-inspiring 37x Not-Very-Smart Bombs, for those occasions when you absolutely, positively, have to shut up the neighbours dog. And anything else within a Very Large Radius. A second up-powered variant mounts 2x liquid-fueled Tommyhawk Cruz Missiles, capable of sustained powered flight (activate missile engines, set throttle to 2/3rds, point upwards 35degrees, launch). These can also be used as target drones for games of aerial chicken. Thanks you ladies & gentlekerbs for your attention, refreshments will now be served. (All aircraft have a plain variant that should only require stock & C7 parts, armed variants will also require Captain Slug\'s explosive bolt, Jaanus\'s dumb bomb, & the JellyCubes Railgun & Wasp missile.) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70627/KSP/Ships/PHI-.5_The_Smallest_Plane.craft http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70627/KSP/Ships/PHI-16.craft http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70627/KSP/Ships/PHI-16_Armed.craft http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70627/KSP/Ships/PHI-Infinity_Flying_Wing.craft http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70627/KSP/Ships/PHI-Infinity_Flying_Wing_Armed.craft http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70627/KSP/Ships/PHI-Infinity_Flying_Wing_CruiseMissile.craft
  11. So, if we boil it down to the pure essence of Kerbal rocketry, we find...
  12. That\'s the thing, there was NO thrust at all, yet the glide was infinite. I\'ve made several other craft of different wing configurations that do the same thing, & as far as I can tell, the unifying feature is that they all have near neutral pitch when gliding. Definitely a bug, & feel free to submit it too, it\'s pretty obvious an aircraft under no thrust shouldn\'t be gaining both altitude AND speed at the same time... Link to craft is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70627/Canard_02.craft
  13. Right, the damn thing had crashed by the time I got home, > but here\'s what I have so far... (All images, right click & open in new tab for bigger) Time 17:06:44, Distance Over Surface 6,891,334.5m, roughly 1.82 orbits The image it crashed/hung on, time 23:46:00, from which I extrapolated a Distance Over Surface of around 9,578,014m, or roughly 2.53 orbits, based on the averaged distance/time from the preceding image. 8) Highest altitude was 13986, so it\'s under the 15k ceiling, too. Someone tell me if I\'m forgetting something basic, but it seems I have created a magic aircraft. If you want it, I can upload the ship file for you to play with...
  14. Welp, I gave it a shot with a small canard plane I created purely out of stock & C7 parts, & I think I\'ve broken physics. Using AdSAS to keep the plane\'s attitude locked, It somehow seems to be able to glide indefinitely at about 8011m & 111m/s, with no cfg tweaking at all. Thus far it\' been going for about 17 hours at 2x time, & has covered 7020636.2m over ground, which is about 1.8 orbits if the planet is indeed 1200km across. It shows no signs of stopping, so I\'m going to work now, & I\'ll see where it is when I get home. Pics will follow for you sceptics...
