Minmus has more science, more resources, is cheaper in DV to get to

Don't kid yourself, or let them kid you. The only false news is by and from those claiming there is false news.
It's true, tinfoil hats actually make it easier for the government to steal your thoughts.
Be woke sheeple!
(Actual sheeple for reference.)

Actually, this is what kept me from playing KSP at first. I'd never heard of it, and then saw something either on Steam or Unity's site or somewhere about it, and when I looked, I saw these goofy looking green guys and thought "Oh, it's a kids game, not what I'm looking for in a space sim." and moved on.
Then some months later, I saw an article or something about it, and decided to try out the demo. I then realized it was actually pretty hardcore, just with cute green guys in it. Now I'm about 2000 hours in, and love it.
Exactly this. (Except, perhaps for the 2K hours, I don't even remember when I passed that particular obsession milestone.)

Honestly, just install RO if you want realism.
Is RO working with 1.2.2?

Do we really need to prove we can perform docking/ rendezvous around every body? Surely the skills are transferable
The "storyline" really has a just-phoned-it-in feel. I appreciate the difficulty, sandbox+storyline, but still at least a little internal logic would be nice.
-
Is there any way to access/alter the "storyline" missions? I mean the Kerbin World-Firsts Record-Keeping Society contract series. There are some rather questionable sequences in there. For example, they have you fly by Mun, orbit Mun, Land on Mun, then perform a rendezvous in Munar orbit and then perform a flyby of Minmus. It's a bit sideways to the capabilities of the science tree unlocked by that point. Is that stuff accessible in a cfg file somewhere or could it maybe be adjusted with Contract Configurator?

Agreed, recovery missions would be grim and not for me however I do believe that other players may use a mod like that for moar realism.

damn right, if squad was gonna add a sat network, why didn't they include remote tech as it is instead of going on their marry way and adding half assed system?
Well, I would probably have worded it a bit more gently but... yeah.

damn i want my network to be started before doing anything serious :/
Exactly how I feel. I have often been told, when promoting the stock inclusion of things like RT or TAC-LS, that if we want such features we should just leave it up to the modding community. I think this illustrates nicely why that is such an invalid approach.

I'd also like this.
"Like" is too mild a word. I crave this.

Really? Where? Links?
I don't think that is a very good example. Is that your video? If so can you show something that shows it better like I did in the video I posted with the Ibeams on the wings?
Did we learn nothing from OP's "KSP has unrealistic/distorted 3D rendering" thread? I suggest PEBCAK.

Configurability is good, and is also a safety net.
Can't be said too often.

Another good way to show this is to get into low Kerbin orbit-80km or so. From there you can see a VERY distinct curvature to Kerbin.
Kerbin is much, much smaller than Earth.

So it is in some way my personal opinion, but I know others that think the same.
Sure enough, but the same can be said by people who think the Earth is flat.
I'm going to have to go with regex on this one.

First of all I personally would not recommend to buy it on Steam, unless you want the Steam extras like achievements for KSP. Either buy it from the KSP site directly or at gog.com.
Because?

Ok it seems that I mis-understood the meaning of inefficient but for some reason my heat shield and capsule burns up faster than anyone else's. I have tried to go at 30km and 15km and all in between but I always get the thermometer and nobody else does?
"Getting the thermometer" is not always a big deal. Having part of a ship get up to "kinda hot" happens to me fairly often if there's something sticking out a little from behind the shield but if it doesn't actually blow up I don't worry about it.
I'll add to the general consensus here. If something blows up on re-entry behind a 1.25 HS it is, every single time, because I did something wrong. Too heavy, too steep, unbalanced loading or some combination of the three when I'm really thumb-fingering the design. Usually, though, I find the HS far too generous and it ends up being jettisoned with 80% or more ablator left.

Getting to the point in the game where you're thinking about stations suggests that you've done a bunch of preliminary stuff. How many missions do you have ongoing? How many flags, how many satellites, how much (as Tw1 mentioned) debris in orbit or scattered around various moons and planets?

To explain this simply, bicycles fall over fast when standing still, but they take much longer to fall over when rolling forward because of the force I'm talking about.

I can't seem to get a near-perfect orbit, and am clueless when it comes to exexuting precise maneuver nodes. Does anyone have any trips?
It's funny that you should mention precise maneuver nodes...

I leave Steam running, but I don't run KSP from Steam. I do exactly what Mrsupersonic8 does;

I am not having any problem with crashing.
