  1. So I was starting up KSP this morning and I noticed that Steam says I have over 600 hours playing it.. This stunned me.. I checked my other games and nothing else comes even remotely close.. Usually once I get a couple hundred hours in, I'm kinda done.. Not so with KSP.. I'm still actively playing and I don't see myself slowing at all any time soon.. In your mind, what is it about KSP that makes it so fun? I'm trying to distill that to some tangible bullet points that other games should implement.. Thoughts?
  2. Oh awesome.. thank you. So my second question then is, does such an add-on exist already? I want to create or participate in an add-on that adds "more" to the game with regards to mining and collection of materials.. sort of to give more purpose to the game.. Missions and markets..etc. We need 100 tons of Jaspet (heh) which can only be gotten out of the polar region of Duna.. go. etc.. I think the Kethane mod is brilliant.. Just need to expand on it in some ways to get extra stuff to mine..
  3. So I have an add-on in mind that I'd like to create, but before I bother I want to know if it would be possible for an add-on to push/pull data from a website? Either via open socket connection, standard ajax calls..whatever.. I want to create a market.. sorta "eve-online" like.. creating a lot of the fun economic stuff from Eve without the PVP open world stuff. Crafting.. Buying/Selling.. Mining..etc.. The site would simply house minute by minute prices, jobs, etc.. It sorta depends on being able to communicate out of the game client. I dont know how / if the plugins are sandboxed to such a degree to prevent this.. Thoughts?
  4. So I have noticed the game is starting to lag on me as I build larger ships in space and fly them off to the planets.. My current space station is made up of 4 of my "Torpedo Tugs", a central core hab and power unit, a communications sat, and a large fueling station and dock setup. All told, its probably between 250 and 300 parts. (I don't actually know the full count but could probably count he parts if it is needed) This ship has my frame rate down to around 10fps (with 8x antialiasing heh). Is that reasonable? Are there any specific modules that for whatever reason cause more video lag? Example; Engines that are running could cause more lag due to being particle emitters..etc.. (thats a guess) My computer is no slouch.. in fact its rather beefy and never gets above 20% CPU usage. I have 16gigs of memory and it usually just barely gets over 8.. Thoughts?
  5. Oddly, the thing that I have learned the most is how smart the folks at NASA/JPL were in the 60's when they put a man on the Mun..er.. Moon with nothing more than slide rules and raw knowledge. NASA/JPL, you guys are amazing.
  6. I can get to all the planets (though I haven't been to Eeloo yet) through the way I do it.. My question is more about understanding and using the other tool. Thanks though =)
  7. Okay so the one thing KSP has taught me is that I'm nowhere near smart enough to be a rocket scientist.. I'd probably not make a good kerbal.. I'm trying to use the Launch Window Planner to get from Kerbin to Dres. ( http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ ) Now previously to get to Dres I have escaped Kerbin, circularized, match planes and then Hohmann transferred.. which always uses more ÃŽâ€v than what the launch window planner says it would use. And more importantly, my transfer times are long (and ugly to be quite frank..) So I'd like to master this tool but damned if I can figure it out. Mechjeb is the only mod I really use and I mostly use it for the orbit info, vessel info and ÃŽâ€v stats information panels -- very handy those.. Do I have enough to use the launch window planner? Is there some magic I'm missing? I have read over other tutorials but damned if I can get it to work for me.. I can't even get close.. I'm feeling very stupid.. Can someone please clue me in? Thanks.
