  1. Cheers @Shadowmage, I've been mucking around to reliably use KS3P lately, so this is great! Using forced DX12 for scatterer, EVE and no problems running TUFX (now just need to tweak settings I guess) No: Yes:
  2. I always would say Kerbal Space Program, as acronyms are just there to save keyboard strokes. Just like one should always say Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, cause LASER is too mainstream. Back on topic: Kay Es Pee
  3. Please see: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/content/350-Development-Relay
  4. I want a little tool in the editor to determine to what extent bay doors open. Much like the slider we have for engine power. Half way open would stop them from clipping my engines on a spaceplane ssto while still allowing the content to come out.
  5. Clap clap, I approve of this. Giant SSTO spaceplanes are awesome. well done
  6. Why use 3 landing legs when you can have 18? The super over-engineered way too heavy for the job, but (in my opinion) awesomely stable Moho lander You need to slam it pretty hard to get it to tip
  7. Haha, another update. This is truly brilliant. Hope they keep it up
  8. Well, this game has changed over time and so has the opinion of the devs. It's almost like they are humans that can change their minds. It probably isn't a last minute addition, that we don't know about it beforehand doesn't mean they weren't planning it already. Hate is such a strong word though, what do you expect them to do? Crawl through the dust and apologise for introducing it and acknowledge they were wrong in the past? (even though you say you like the idea)
  9. To quote some other forum user (who? forgot) on this issue: it's becausing you are flying a flag, no?
  10. Ore as a name for fuel is actually not that weird I think. Also, it has been done in other instances such as the battlestar Galactica series where fuel would be refined from mined Tylium ore. I just imagine it to be a similar concept.
  11. When testing new spaceplanes and shuttles I often use the stretch of sea towards the island runway for testing stability, control etc. If they manage to touch down there in one piece, a lot of them will stay there (including pilots which go on a well deserved tropical island holiday )
  12. Rovers are definitely at the crossroad where fun/realism is a problem. While it is true that real rovers maybe only drive a few meters per hour, this would be incredibly boring gameplay wise. While curiosity has been spending 2 years driving to mt. Sharp, I intend to invest nowhere near as much time to drive to a target zone for a contract.
  13. When I made my laythe colony mission using a few motherships (carrying SSTOs) I landed most of the stuff at what brotoro called Fido bay on Dansen Island. Also inspired by his detailed travel report thanks for that
  14. I guess mostly an engineer as I spend most time in the SPH building ridiculously big spaceplanes, then after that a pilot to get them airborne Also, what did you use the get the screenshots creating a sort of depth perception?
  15. Crawlerway is seperate? You learn something new all the time Also, I'm not sure how "science-science" has been rebalanced in value (if at all?), but before, the career mode was only from science reports and no contracts. The only thing you would need the contracts for now is well, money and rep.

You can use F5 for quicksaving and F9 for quickloading. That should help a bit?
  17. Looking good fellas. I'm back with my super legit and abiding all rules entry now. Same design: Mk.7-XT, different payload. Perk of doing it again also allowed me to upscale the cargo for maximum points! (orbit: 161x170) (although, isn't the scoring a bit off? 36t for a full orange is 1000 points. but just adding 4t more (for the RCS and stuff) and it'll grant 2000 points. Shouldn't 2000 points be 2 orange tanks then? just thinking here to stretch the leaderboard a bit.)
  18. Ooh this is totally up my alley. I'll be a bit lazy though and repost what I had in the shuttle thread: Shuttle Thread The space shuttle Mk.7-XT (extended body). This report doesn't contain the full Ap/Pe Heights though (as you can see during the circularization, it's current altitude is around 120 km already at that stage). And if we're gonna be strict, the fuel tank has no docking port either. I can redo the flight easily with better documentation if you want if that makes it more eligible? Please let me know Album containing an entire flights events: edit: Also, I just noticed that I don't show the orange tank being full in this album It is, but don't believe strangers on the internet! I'll look into it soon.
  19. My name is Remkeau, and I'm a screenshotaholic. Got about 2500+ floating around in the steam screenshot folders, I love mashing F12. It's nice to sometimes browse through them and be reminded of craft and missions of the past. It's fun in it's own right. @r4pt0r, the F2 button hides all of the HUD for prettier pictures
  20. For my first Duna lander back in 0.23 I actually took the hard approach with an SSTO powered by two 909's. The SSTO part was Duna exclusive, I will add. Also comes with a docking port in the back. This was built before I fully grasped the concept of how to land in thin atmospheres, and resulted in swift deaths for Bob very often before finally landing safely
  21. Here she is: my Eve ascent mission, boosting away from hell, escaping the clutches of the suffocating purple ball of death, doom and despair. Eh yes. For what? A rock! Anyway, here she goes: (apologies in advance for the post length and image heavy nature ) - 3,323.31 ton and 806 parts on the pad. - 292.75 ton and 326 parts on Eve in takeoff position - Main ascent vehicle: 1,619,526 funds + 2x Tug: 1,006,268 = total ~3,632,062 funds - 0.90 - mods used: KAC, KER, EVE (removed clouds on Eve itself at some point) - Landing site was found through an advanced F5/F9 protocol and sheer luck. (only required 2 tries!) In an alternate Kerbal universe, kerbals like to build tall rockets. Heck, the carnivorous ways of these Kerbals makes that they never even heard of Onions, Asparagus and that kind of veggie mumbojumbo. Hence, for an Eve return mission they shall use brute force, and low efficiency systems. This purple rock will look nice on the space program's managers desk as a presse-papier The main mission report is in the following albums titles and descriptions. (Split into: - Getting to Eve, -De-orbit and landing, -The ascent and return) This challenge really lived up to the term challenge. I spent many many hours designing and executing this mission. Just the transfer and landing phase took like 6 real world hours. Totally worth it though. While finding the landing site was relatively easy to do, actually putting the Ascender down proved to be difficult. A tall rocket like this tends to snap into pieces when it hits even the slightest slope on the ground at pretty low speeds. My landing site was about 700 meters higher above sea level than my initial hyperedit trials. While this was great for Delta-V management, it turned out that my parachute configuration would not slow the craft down enough, even with the help of the 8 braking rockets. Pretty fireballs ensued to cleanse the soil. Countless quickloads later I used the help of the main engines to lower the touchdown speed to below 2,5 m/s. Luckily the fuel pods of the original brake rockets contained enough fuel to compensate for the fuel waste. Although the swaying movement after touchdown was still nerve wrecking. Landing on the tail! Check! Another minor/major problem was the tug setup. If you rely on gimballing engines for tug control, never put them in a puller configuration it seems. I had to disable all gimballs and waste loads of RCS to get my setup to the place I needed it, and ended up wasting a lot of fuel again. (Hence the second tug sent immediately after the correction burns of the first) I want to express gratitude to all the people posting here, your information was very valuable and inspiring. Now! Onward to business, for a category 1 Eve Rocks attempt: Getting there: The descent and stuff: The Ascent:
  22. Also, Laythe is too cold, it's nice oceans probably aren't even water if they are liquid at the temperatures you can measure there
  23. As you are using steam you can check the integrity of the game cache: Open properties of KSP in steam --> Local Files tab --> Verify integrity of game cache. It should repair corrupt files with that
  24. Keyboard and mouse, and more often than not also the touchpad. (Because KSP is one of the few games you can actually play on the couch like that )
  25. Cool man, congratulations Looks very interesting, do you have a more detailed report showing off your entire vehicle and its landers? Would love to see what it takes to do this.
