  1. Oh if that works AWESOME - thanks
  2. We started with a fly-by of the moon before we landed. We could start by doing the same with Mars and Venus. That would be a technology builder. Also I don't see any country stumping up the cash for an expensive Mars mission that spans several electoral cycles. Mars will only happen when space gets cheaper in time........ there are signs of this slowly happening!
  3. Why cant I rotate my EVA kerbal like a spaceship without it orientating back the wrong and unwanted way when I hit space?
  4. Would this be a task suitable for a gravity assist? My understanding was that although you would leave Jools SOI at the same speed you entered you would pick up some of Jools orbital momentum along the way. Of course this wouldnt work for me personally as I tend to be an inefficient navigator.
  5. I just got home from my exam and watched the launch. My eyes kept darting left to read the fuel left in the stages.... but NASA doesn't have that graphic
  6. I think you guys have confirmed my fears and the direction of solution. With some experimentation the grand airlift to the inland ksc will be feasible! Thanks
  7. I am not sure. All I did was arm it. I don't imagine it would make a difference if I locked the gimbal (though I would have before take off). Are there further set up options?
  8. I am adverse to mods!! But maybe it cant be done without it. As I sit here thinking I wonder if I could mount 2 grapplers in a plane, arm them, and then lower the plane by retracting some gear. The issue with that is whether both grapplers would register as attached!!
  9. Hi Guys, I am currently trying to build a heavy transport jet which is designed to have wheeled cargo pods roll on and roll off (as part of a silly big challenge I set myself). The jet is problematic and will do a redesign but I needed to do a proof of concept of the cargo transportation. What I did was to build a jet that had a loading ramp that could be driven on to. The cargo pod has a grappler (stock) up front. I drive on to it no problems It attaches to the front of the cargo area just like I wanted and THEN!!!!!! Upon creating one new craft the cargo literally falls through the floor attached only by the grappler!!! Its like the physics change when its one vehicle. Does anyone have some tips on how to make this work? My master plan will have big problems if I cant operate a roll-on roll off system of cargo moving!! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y32/RusEvo/2014-11-14_00001_zps26ef5085.jpg' alt='2014-11-14_00001_zps26ef5085.jpg'>
  10. Hi all, I am currently doing a search of Bop for the easter egg that is on it. My search method is to land the craft, EVA 10 or so Kms north and return, then EVA 10 or so kms south, then I fly the craft 10kms east and repeat. Im about halfway round now and I am wondering if the gaps are too big and I will miss seeing it. My graphical settings are probably middle of the road (Im not in game to check). Should I see it if I am 5 or more kms away (but moving around the view and zooming way out etc). The same question applies for when I try to find the desert KSC etc, Im not sure how low I should fly the search plane!! Any thoughts?
  11. Ah good, it might be ready for me next weekend if I am lucky! Meanwhile the game is still quite awesome.
  12. I just got my first ever Dres probe into orbit. ..... only to find the goo canisters were monoprop tanks. ... BECAUSE THEY LOOK THE SAME
  13. I found the hardest part of landing was trying to land straight vertical without sliding horizontal. The delta v is easy if you give it a good descent stage
  14. Whilst mono prop will be a less delta v solution, maybe his idea makes sense if it uses monoprop that was originally on hand for docking etc and can be converted for emergency use. Having dual use items is a good idea. I have used backup mini landers to get kerbs back home when a mothership has fallen apart interplanetary before
  15. Don't forget to have the ability to seperate from the rest of the ship! So this is less efficient than a rocket emergency return setup right?
  16. $$ are easy..... science is the real economy
  17. Banned for NOT making me laugh when I saw that image.
  18. Just did my first Tylo landing with a one way probe. Its a bit hairy isnt it?? I think a two way lander just needs to be properly staged: 1, A powered drop tank or section to handle decent. 2, A lander segment to land and ascend. 3, A smaller craft to finish getting you up there. Nothing like a little overengineering to get you where your going.
  19. What I want to know Is whether there will be any more Trek series!
  20. No you are not using logic. Should Europeans have not returned to North America after they had sent a handful of boats as they "had explored it already"? Of course not, there was much more to do there. Same with the moon.
  21. Well, to be ideal I think you would want to cover ground that is not already well covered by other tutorials. Tell people something that would really help them and which might not be obvious. For example what do you know now that would really have helped you when you were a noob? Also, videos which are not boring and have creativity etc etc would be the most watched. And double check your spelling and grammar otherwise people will not bother after reading the description!
  22. I doubt the OP needs a defence from spydrones. The Govt can just watch his internet activity and track his cellphone!
  23. I think I might turn rogue and steal peoples ships!!
  24. This is a problem I dont know how ot overcome if I am going to design an in-cockpit only mun mission.
  25. Surely over time they would fall out of resonance as you wouldn't be able to get them exactly equal. Next mission when you time warp to Duna or something you would come back and they would be random!!
