[0.23.5] TreeLoader - Custom Career Tech-tree Loader 1.1.5
leeham991 replied to r4m0n's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Is there any way to get this mod to work for science mode? It only seems to work for the new career mode with all of the insane contracts. -
[0.25] Realism Overhaul w/ RedAV8R [Terminated]
leeham991 replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Every other game I play allows EXE based mods, with the exception of Rome II, which is made by a company which has been until recently actively trying to dismantle the modding community around their games. Why wont Squad allow large mods to be condensed into a single download? -
[0.25] Realism Overhaul w/ RedAV8R [Terminated]

Anyone got an install which actually works stuffed into an EXE? I installed the 23.5 version 10 times before I got it half way right and even then I had an insane bug which prevented unmanned landers on the Moon. I really can't be arsed going through the install another 10 times for this version. Should I just wait for the next update so I don't get 2 hours playtime before the next update rips it all up again? -
Is there any plans to use this amazingly in-depth control system to create other capsules, or to provide decent cockpits for stock capsules? Using RasterpropMonitor the only decent cockpit is in the MK1 pod, add the Alcor lander to that and you only really have two decent pods available. Especially considering that all of the parts parts provide utterly awful pod cockpits which in some cases have even less information than stock pods.

Huge lander error: Whenever I send a lander to the moon (and maybe other bodies, though I don't know yet) it will disappear once I switch to another craft or to the space centre. Naturally this is a problem in that it totally removes the ability to have impact monitors on surfaces, or rovers, or landing beacons/collect later probes. Also removes any 'historical' things like old dead probes to go look at, or flags. If anyone has any idea what is causing this I'd really love to know how to fix it.

I'm having real trouble getting this to work with the planetfactory thing so I can have the real world texture. Is there any way I can just 'slap' textures onto the planets in RSS without planetfactory? If not could I be a real pain and ask someone to put all of the files in working order up in a dropbox for me so I can transplant?

Some construction instructions would be nice.

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
leeham991 replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Is there any alternate config with the parts being a whole lot smaller? I'm using realism overhaul (or the best I can manage to make with the cluster of downloads and contradicting instructions it gives) and the flight computer parts stick out comically, like someone has stuck a piece of clip art over a picture. I think the parts would look much better if they were smaller, and even if they don't a much smaller part is much easier to hide in a vent or between two pieces of hardware or something. -
That is to say; I can no longer enjoy the game without it. I miss too much... However, I don't miss that in Realism Overhaul I have to spend more than half of my time fighting the game code, tracking down bizarre and suddenly emerging compatibility errors, working out what needs to go where, finding the right patches, trying to balance about 50 downloads with 50 different sets of instructions and then of course getting sidelined by bizarre and often dramatic bugs. I'm stuck in this limbo. I cannot get a stable version of Realism Overhaul after many attempts, but I cannot seem to enjoy the stock game either, or with a bunch of expansion mods. It feels like I've gone from exploring someone's 50 year effort in model railway building to playing with a simple wooden train, but I don't think I have the heart for literally the 6th time to go through and try to get a stable version of Realism Overhaul again. I heard rumors that someone was going to iron out compatibility issues and meld the mod down into a guaranteed to work EXE install, like a proper total conversion mod, but I can't confirm that, or even really expect it considering that most people don't seem to have a problem with it... Maybe this is more just complaining than making a relevant thread though.

I cant work out how to put any of these things together properly and there seems to be no instructions anywhere I can find.

What with the monoliths all over the place, a crashed alien craft on Kerbin and the dead octopus I didn't think it was unlikely that I was seeing something which was supposed to be there. I'm pretty sure none of the mods I use add anything like that, they are mostly things that people with better technical skills will play around with to get the realism overhaul to work. Just a really weird graphical glitch UFO then I suppose xD
-
Weird thing happened to me today. I was coming in for return from the Mun, about 100km above Kerbin, then a bright light appeared on the horizon. I thought it was Minmus or just a star at first, but then it quickly got closer before stopping paralel to my craft to the north. Up close it looked like a shiny black square, but it only stayed for a couple of second before shooting off into space. My first thought it that it was a particularly bizarre graphical glitch, but then I started thinking maybe it is a random event programmed into the game? Maybe orbiting easter eggs?? I'm pretty sure it wasn't rocket debris because I'd not left anything up in orbit in the career yet, and it moved in a weird way. In the way of graphics I am using Distant Objects, Visual Enhancement and Active Texture Management. All of the other plugins I have are physics or parts based, nothing which adds any space debris or planets or anything, or makes any graphics changes. Anyone else encountered any bizarre UFOs like this?

Isn't there an easier way to download Realism Overhaul?
leeham991 replied to thederper121's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I've attempted to download the realism overhaul about 3 times and every time something goes wrong which I can't seem to track down. Right now when I try to start a new game I spawn in space looking at the sun and can't move. Seriously need an EXE for the overhaul or something. -
Personally I like mods which add lots of science equipment too. It's nice to send a giant magnet on a stick and a cute little three pronged thingymabob instead of having to rely on big cartoon looking things that don't rest inline. :3
-
That's a shame :< Maybe when the solar system has been expanded some more they'll add a super far from sun biome for the fun and such? :3

I've been googling around for about an hour and I can't find the answer to my question anywhere. Basically what I want to know is if there are any science points to be had from sending a probe on an escape trajectory of the sun? I got a craft to escape once I'm pretty sure, but it took quite a few years and by the time I noticed it was way out there I'd already folded in the solar panels and left it to die a very long time ago in what I thought would be a collision with Jool.
