Surely this mod is made redundant by the oxygen recycling that the command module is sure to have? It seems like making everything a lot harder than it needs to be in reality. The Apollo command module must have supplied at least 10 days worth of oxygen?

Yes they can, when I land with space planes vertically on the mun, the remaining rcs fuel gets me up to a 550ms orbit before i turn on the liquids for escape.

Out of interest, what would be the most economic moon lander? My best was 9tanks/3engines first stage, 9tanks/3engines second stage, and a 2tank/1engine lander.

I\'ve got to orbit with 2 tanks, but the landing was slightly rapid ;P

I managed to return and land on kerbin as well with the narrow spaceplane fuselage. My plane is also 100% reusable, if you don\'t count the small problem where all the wings fall off on landing, because it lands at 100m/s with no fuel :/

Mine can go faster if you modify the stages, but then it starts twisting at launch, and an unstable rocket is an unhappy rocket. Also, i\'m surprised there is no dedicated thread for this incredibly fixating and wonderful challenge, that was my original q.
