No, I used Wings 3D to make my model and my collider, then I added the mesh collider component in Unity. I'll try the edgesplit in Wings if there's a tool for it.
So when I load my parts into KSP they look like they have some sort of lighting error, I think. It looks like they each have their own shadow that only effect that part. Check it out:

Introducing the first spacecraft I've constructed in orbit, The P.E.O.S.S. Interplanetary Orbital Science Vessel. It will hopefully travel to Eve and do science in orbit. BTW P.E.O.S.S. is an acronym for Please Excuse Our Shoddy Spacecraft.
