indeed, the core includes the 3rd trough 5th stages, the (a) thumpers are the 2nd stage and the( thumpers, the 1st. i don't know how to produce those fancy blueprints like the one @funk produced, otherwise i'd show you.

this, i generally place 2 on the bottom like this. i use the top for an antenna and batteries

mine is capable of a fly by, probably landing (taking off is another matter). 1st stage - 4 Thumpers 2nd stage- 4 Thumpers -49% thrust limit 3rd stage - 1 LVT-T30 with 4 t400 tanks 4th stage -1 LV-909 with 2 t100 tanks (or 1 t200) 5th stage - capsule, with service bay, 2 shutes, some science and a heatshield

all the ferry missions ive seen involve 2-3 things, sub-orbital, orbit and certain specific coordinates to land on. i haven't tried any of them so idk what else to tell you besides check the contract details to see if you need to visit someplace else.

so the reaction wheels no longer, (or they never actually did) work as SAS then?

I tried placing the inline reaction wheel (which used to have SAS), but the game won't let me activate the SAS with the message "no SAS module or pilot)

i converted to 1.0 the just barely vanilla fresh start i made yesterday, no more than 3 rockets and 2 missions. i still had to delete the designs since parts were no longer valid. i have an old interstellar + mods career that will probably remain archived since its from way back in .25 my suggestion: start fresh, you will need to re-learn some habits that no longer apply to new stock, and you get to crash stuff
