Hm... ok, with that quote in mind - yes, it looks like you're right. If so then I have no idea what's up with these parts that do have a black tiles, next to the spaceplane parts that don't have them. Very confusing. I very much doubt that "cool purpose" is "inverting the parts without them looking bad". Call me old-fashioned, but inverted cockpit is far, far away from anything I would call "cool". I guess/hope that Squad will surprise us with that one.
-
Perhaps these are just two different statuses / modes? From Twitter: Avera9eJoe: "What about the missing black under the mk2 parts?" SQUAD: "Trust us, it's for a cool purpose."
-
Oh, I htought you were talking about the fuselage models. Thanks for clarification.

Should we give Earth a scientific designation?
Sky_walker replied to Souper's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Hmm... good point. I went for "since when we know about it" instead of "when it was recognized as a planet". -
Should we give Earth a scientific designation?
Sky_walker replied to Souper's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The proper, scientific naming of a planets is to use lower-case letters. Numbers are in general a sci-fi thing. So in case of the earth - it'd be Sol c going by a distance from sun or - if we follow the current scientific standard of naming planets in the order of discovery - it'd be Sol a However noone is going to use anything alike as scientific designation of earth is earth. If you can't stand calling earth earth - use that instead: ps. this topic is full of nonsense babbling. -
Looks like a whole new design to me.
-
Is it just me or the old one looks better? Looks like it will be.

SAY WHAT?! (yes, I do use time compression for most of my gameplay time in space, and I'm pretty sure I spent good 80-90% of my time in the atmosphere, most of it just testing (and crashing) rockets. I'm not a spaceplane/airplane guy, I build rockets, but saying that "sandbox isn't in the atmosphere" is... very far from reality)

Sandworm - you should install some mods before making comments like that. People have done changes you mention, and none of the issues you speak of ever occurred. None of them. Also - note that many people don't ask for Kerbin in a size of earth. Just large enough to balance atmosphere and planet density to some roughly reasonable values. KSP does work fine with Kerbin in a size Earth, but a lot of people would be happy with Kerbin being 50% bigger, or something around that.

Which is fine, cause noone is asking for a total realism. IMHO the game would be easier for them as they'd be able to use logic in their spacecraft design. For me, as a new player, the biggest challenge wasn't in spaceflight itself, or stuff like that, but in learning all of the weird quirks that KSP got, like for example that nose cones are not only useless, but rather: crippling (dead weight). That hoping for a gravity turn is a stupid thing to do - you just need to force your turn in ~10 km. That descending a lone capsule from an orbit is a waste of time, weight, resources, and now: funds, as there is no reentry heat, even though you'd expect it from any game that got anything to deal with semi-realistic spaceflight. That you need to guesstimate the amount of fuel and engines needed, cause game doesn't provide any information about Delta V or... well... almost any numbers at all. And so on, and so on. Stuff like that is nowhere to be explained in the game itself, while for example - orbital dynamics are relatively easy to learn with maneuver nodes.

Download count is no indicator to the demand. I'm very sure that a vast majority of people-who-want-nosecones-to-be-useful doesn't even know about the existence of FAR or NEAR. Even judging by this topic alone it seems that well over 90% of people never even tried any of these mods. And we're talking here about people posting on a forum - which is a minority of player base. Minority that's much more aware of modding repository than a random players are. Ekhm... Nope. 1) What the wise man said in a post below this one. 2) SQUAD if would want to can implement realistic atmosphere as a difficulty setting that you can turn off - though it'd most likely end up like with the contracts that lead to implementation of current science mode - first huge panic on a forum, and then, after the release, everyone find out that what they were afraid of was in fact an awesome idea. 3) You grossly underestimate capability of people to find holes in the games / design awesome stuff despite of any odds. They would still do the same things they do now. Only in a slightly different way (eg. instead of sending it in one launch - they'd do it in 2 or 3 with cargo properly encapsulated in a fairing, or perhaps - their rocket would just be bigger to punch through the atmosphere (russia-style) ). And believe me or not - satisfaction from making a whackjob work would be by far greater if said whackjobs would be made to work in more realistic environment (from what I reckon a large portion of fun with these things is demolishing them, testing, demolishing again and testing again - so: realism = clearly more fun with whackjobs. ).

Either post under their QA twitt or use @KerbalSpaceP at the beginning of new tiwtt. Don't get your hopes high through - there's plenty of questions and.... 4? 5? answers so far. Something around that.
-
There's some sort of QA session going on twitter: https://twitter.com/KerbalSpaceP So far: Confirmed - Squad is actively working on a Multiplayer, though it will not come in 0.25 Confirmed - Hugo's cockpit and fuselage gonna make it into .25 Confirmed - all Kerbals know that stories about 6 foot tall pink beings with even sized eyes are all made up. Few people are off today in SQUAD, but they're still working and even right now compiling another test version. ps. Oh My God - THAT HYPEPLANE!
-
Maybe they try to scare the s*** out of Americans? You know... it's like on these self-defense courses where the first advise they give to the girls is "shout as loud as you can". lol And besides - let's face it: conventional torpedoes would be useless in any attempt to catch something like that. So in a pure theory - it could approach target silently and when fired upon - just "engage warp drive" and get the hell out.

The long line of misconceptions introduced by KSP continues.

Biome Overhaul, biome specific contracts
Sky_walker replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
IMHO whole tech tree needs an overhaul. Preferably in a way that forces people to make an interplanetary flight in order to research everything. You say that it's possible to research every tech from Kerbin and it's moons? No. It's possible to research every tech without ever making an orbital flight. Just sub-orbital "leaps" between the biomes and "landed"/"splashed down"/"flight"/"suborbital" contracts. Currently it's a Kerbal Space Program without Space part. (One could argue it's without "Program" part too) -
For 50th time: Noone ever asked for a total realism. Noone. Original poster imagined something that never occurred. If you'd bother to read through the first page - it'd be clear enough. We just found the most accurate description of Kerbin atmosphere ever.

Feelings about being able to fly without MechJeb
Sky_walker replied to LitaAlto's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I was referring to that part: "Mechjeb actually seems entirely realistic". And yes - I wouldn't mind seeing an "autopilot" build in a principle that Kerbals are piloting - but that implies "kerbal factor" in, which means: each time you let them handle something - you might expect random explosions occurring. I'm against 100% reliable and ideal autopilot unless it's in a form similar to the kOS. That at least gives you some very slight idea of what challenges are involved into getting an automated ship do what you want it to do (though again - kOS in itself is very, very "easy-mode"). -
Feelings about being able to fly without MechJeb
Sky_walker replied to LitaAlto's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
You got it all wrong. If someone wants to have a realistic autopilot like it's used on a space craft than the closest thing to get will be this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/68089-0-24-kOS-Scriptable-Autopilot-System-v0-13-1-2014-7-18 It's still MUCH easier than a real thing, but.... that's pretty much as close as you can get with existing mods to the KSP. MechJeb is just a toy. Feel free to play with it, but don't use words "realistic" and "MechJeb" anywhere near each other unless there's a negation in between. -
Search. Just add search and it'll solve good 99% of issues. I type "tank" or "fuel" - I want to see all fuel tanks. I type "mk 1" - I want to see all spaceplane parts in MK1 shape I type "engine" - I want to see all engines, including Ion, Rockets, Turbojets, etc. (and again: why the heck Ion isn't in a propulsion tab?!) I type "energy" - I want to see all solar panels, RTG and batteries (everything that's main function is either producing or storing the energy) And the combinations: "rocket engines", etc. etc. Yes - it'd require SQUAD to spend some time trying to figure out a base of keywords and then tag all of the parts appropriately, but damn - this would resolve good 99% of the issues people ever had with finding parts in KSP. You're complaining about something that isn't a problem nor will be in next 20 years or so. We don't even have a full set of existing parts for all radial sizes. So prepare for many, many more items ahead. And the stuff they add through SP+ was long due to be released into the game - they're all logical components that make perfect sense and are NOT just a "variations" on the existing stuff. Rather - a whole new future for space planes.

KSP-TV SquadCast - Release list and discussion
Sky_walker replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, you are right - comparison to Sonic is wrong. Sonic at least made some logical sense - he started to roll in order to get more speed. What I read about here is just random buff out of nowhere that doesn't translate to anything in remote proximity to the logic. -
KSP-TV SquadCast - Release list and discussion
Sky_walker replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This argument "don't like it - don't use it" is getting old. You should really try being more creative, cause we're not going anywhere with that. Yes, people wanted Tycoon, not another Sonic game where you get random speed buffs out of nowhere.
