  1. Hi dear kerbonauts, i'm doing some aircraft and try different models and wing types as I try to build a Hypersonic aircraft to do aerial survey missions faster using only liquid fuel [imgur](http://i.imgur.com/q3qCWAL.jpg) (original size) I have some troubles with delta wings and their flat spin tendancy when you go over the AoA limits and stall, Jebediah and Bill died while trying to change the bearing of their aircraft and entered a flat spin which brought them from 20 000m to the ground without any chance to recover As I understand it, the aircraft do a flat spin because the center of mass and the center of lift are neutral, resulting in the aircraft not pitching down causing a stall of all elevon ? So the solution would be to bring the center of mass closer to the nose right ? edit : in fact I just applied some overlooked basics rules in aerodynamics and my delta wings are now very stable and pull out of stalls... duh Anyway, there come another question so the post doesn't go waste : My aircrafts wobbles, even the smallest one, even using kerbal joint reinforcement and struts from B9... so I tried to strut every module to the wings, feel pretty rigid but the pitch still wobble up & down whenever I touch the commands, is that normal in kerbal terms or there is something i'm doing wrong ?
  2. Thanks a lot Cantab ! I know i'm missing a good part of the game because I rarely do docking (even after 200hours and multiples tries I still find it so hard to pull off ) so I decided to train and do more mission including the need to dock back at a mothership or refueling in LKO, hopefully the landing module was lightweight and rotating it around wasn't so much of a hassle ! Now that i've pulled off an engine-only docking against my will, I feel like I can take over the univeeeeerse !! In all honesty, no games made me want to learn as much as KSP did, everytime i'm launching the game I find something new to do or to experiment inside Kerbin SOI thanks to what peoples do here (I don't post a lot but do read the forum everydays, and yeah, I still havn't left Kerbin SOI trying to learn as much as possible before going for interplanetary missions, I like when my kerbals come back home sound and safe !) Xub313, how many D/V had your probe with this monoprop tank ? (out of curiosity, I still wonder how to use those engines)
  3. Today I did for the first time a mission with a "mothership" and a landing module, the plan was to orbit the Mun, detach the landing module, land and do some experiments then fly up to low munar orbit again and dock to the mothership for return to Kerbin, a much needed mission before I go to Jool or any other planet having one or multiples moon. Everything was going well, until I run out of monopropellant about 300 meters from the mothership, which made my docking quite tricky using only the main engine and pivoting the landing module in every directions possible to correct the approach vector manually (mechjeb is evil and jebediah was having so much fun piloting:sticktongue:) in the end everything went well (but I sweated a lot!) and both the module and the mothership returned and landed kerbin safely
  4. Hi, I'm having some troubles with EnvironnementalVisualEnhancement and BetterAtmosphere mods since 0.25 I know they are not updated yet, and it will probably correct the glitch I have : Kerbin seem to have multiples layers of city lights, this lead to a weird looking dark side of Kerbin, and some glitchs as I get close to the ground, but pics are better than words, look by yourself : Have someone figured how to fix this yet ? Is it due to the mod not being updated yet ? Mielgato
  5. teh kraken striked again, minmus was destroyed as was the whole bottom stage of my landing module, weird thing, everything else is still standing ! (as if minmus and my botstage was still there !!)
  6. I don't know if it come from 0.25, but still since then I can't edit the fairing base size directly by right clicking it, the space where the scroller should be appear blank !
  7. this is sci fi : fighters have a strategical strengh against bigger target, better mobility, can be stored, carried, and launched from a carrier/mothership, have less mass to move around so are the most nimble spacecraft, a good analogy would be a swarm of mosquitos attacking you, you could be able to kill some, but in the end more than 50% of the initial swarm would have bitten you, now say it is a battleship against a swarm of fighter, you see where I want to go ? as for the weapons, ballistical weaponry is non-sense against small target in space since one can change it's direction vector way easier than in the atmosphere and it's harder to predict a trajectory, and the fire projectile would never stop until it encounter something, missiles would suffer the same problem if they overshoot their target, and missiles are dumb so countermeasures works against it (but still have better chance to hit than bullets), I believe the best solution would be laser-like weaponry which travel at the speed of light and fade with range, so basically can't be evaded at optimal range and won't drift forever. I can't talk about manned/unmanned/AI controlled craft, I wont be objective since i'm not for the automated warfare (I actually dislike the idea of drones flying over my head and taking photos which is not scifi unfortunatly, so giving this a gun is actually a far worse idea to me) and I want to believe a human with experience can outperform any AI in these situations... now for the warp drive, I don't find it necessary for fighters since they can be carried by a bigger ship with the warp drive, and sortie when the target is in range, but probably a "micro" warpdrive can be derived from the warpdrive technology, allowing fighters to do small jumps for a lower energy expense, giving them more flexibility, ability to hit and run, and such.
  8. At first, I want to say hi to everyone, i'm new and not american/english, please bear with me :3 @Godot, then I want to react about your message : if we are talking about quantic teleportation I do concur (due to intrication, sorry if it is not the full term or mistaking), the "you" the other side from an ethical point of view can be considered as a copy and not the "actual you". I think star trek picture very well what's happening during a quantic teleportation, as said by nearly everyone, your body's atoms configuration would be saved by a quantic supercomputer, sent to coordinate X,Y,Z at S speed then reconstructed weither by automated mean from the home computer (requiring to beam the data where you want to go I guess) Weither by a terminal at your destination (safe to think this kind of technology could allow you to copy and store yourself in a quantic/numerical state and be restored in case of fatal and unwanted/unfortunate death, limb severed, uncurable disease... Thus begining the age of the cyber human) But this technic implies a big flaw, does the "you" you've stored is really you, or not just a copy thinking it's you, when the "actual you" is dead, because of the demolecularization needed to store these very data and send it elsewhere faster than light (this is getting complicated and steam already blow from my ears) the Stargate from SG-1 would be the wormhole way of teleportation, a hole connecting two points in the universe by folding it, then it's safe to think you are not demolecularized and would just "pop" the other side (considering you put through your arm only, while your body stay in new york, your arm appear the other side from the event of horizon, if you pull it back, your arms dissapear from paris and is still your arms when fully in new york. but a lot of flaws can be foreseen, as the strain caused by the wormhole to the body, the energy needed to open both side of this wormhole with enough input to keep it open a minute or two, and does wormhole really not demolecularize yourself ? Just to give a few. In both case, it would be strictly regulated, at least for a few decades or a century, until peoples get accustomed, because of the need of heavy installations at first and for reasons already mentionned, I think that once we become a truly space faring species teleportations regulation would ease a bit, if not completly dissapear as privates at first and then commoners would get access to their own teleporter gradually like the cars was at first reserved to the elites when it really came out first, and then begun to become a part of everyone everyday life, so is the informatic. I may be wrong, if that's the case i'll be glad to have a proper explanation, i'm not confident about my knowledge in this topic =)
