  1. I suppose I've always been a bit confused on the difference of the two and the question is, is the math correct?
  2. Okay thank you very much 3.75 is in tons I'll review everything and see what i can get =)
  3. so I got home from school and started nerding out xD so correct me if I'm wrong. Dv=ISP*LN(total/dry) ISP=total impulse/weight of fuel total impulse= Thrust*time adv srb type A Thrust = .150T = 300lb Time = 50 seconds total impulse = 300*50 = 15000 lb-sec ISP = 15000 / 3.75 = 4000 11K DV? = 4000 * LN(4/.25) that is only for the rocket the smallest you can get it is the mass to be 5 and dry to be 1 so 6300 = 4000 * LN(5.04/1) that is a probe, rocket, and nozzle REVISION!!!!! Ve= effective exhaust velocity M0= full mass M0= dry mass G0=9.81 F= thrust in Newtons q=fuel rate delta-v=ve*Ln(M0/M1) Ve= ISP*G0 ISP=F/qG0 So our Thrust is .150kT or 1470 newtons q= 3750/50 or 75 (kgs/s) so our ISP = 1470/(75*9.8)=2. (seconds) the effective velocity = 2 * 9.8= 19.6 (m/s) the deltav=19.6*ln(4/.25)=54.3427389558997123

  5. I was wondering how to calculate the DV for these modules...
  6. So I can't figure out what pack has the .5 meter parts (airplane parts but for probes?)
  7. Really nice info here I'd add a few like orbital velocity= sqrt(G*M/R) and a few others also here is a really nice online calculator I use http://web2.0calc.com/ and a website the starts of orbital mechanics http://www.braeunig.us/space/orbmech.htm
  8. WONDERFUL!!!!!! great mod for sending my com sats up into orbit ^.^
  9. I can respect that but I lie role playing in my games first making a car then tanks (cart mod) then a simple no weapon plane then a longer range plane moving to adding weapons then a simple flight to a simple orbit onto landing on the mun/minmus and so on i like doing it like that and inbetween are lots of flights like orbital gps (not real of course) sats and spacestations(orbital construction) so on and so forth i also greatly like the math/flying part of it going as far as to teach myself simple atrosphysics (being a 10th grader in high school it was hard) but i know things like VE and delta V calculating the time of a orbit and so on and so forth
  10. sorry to bother you again but i've been trying to figure out how to make a guided missile and i'm not sure how to do it i've tryed one laser on the missile and everything else on my plane/rocket (didnt have any idea how the mod worked) and have tryed alot of things since but im to the point where i have a whole secondary rocket it has wings jets canards all the lasers (exept the tractor beam) including the lead when i file it it still wont go to the target sorry if im missing something really simple but i target the SPH put guided flight to follow target then fire the rocket and decouple but it just starts going crazy and sometimes makes my plane fling out of control please help -.-
  11. hey I would like to make some small controllable canards so i went in copied canard and renamed the copy small canard and changed scale = 0.1 to 0.01 started the game and Nothin..... =\ so looked it up tryed RescaleFactor = 0.5 Bam nothin again i've looked it up but found nothin any help guys?
  12. someone give this man a internet for the love of God!!!!! I actually just got on here to see if anyone has made something like that another option is if you could make a new lazor or just an option for say the green one that would take over controls and keep it pointed at the target or something also how does the target system work I'd like to make new one's then follow them but I can't figure out how it works =\ i get like a zn12543462 or a collison something and it just switchs from one to the other =(
  13. Hey I'm sure almost everyone has seen the kerbals at war video by now... So I have a question what is the best way of moving Boats I got on in the water with 4 rocket fuel tanks and 2 lil engines and it moved at like 0.6 meters a second... so is there a secret? rcs plane rockets? and is there any mods to make it easier? (0.16 btw)
  14. I have another question what is the formula to find the orbital period of a body (how long it will take my ship to orbit once around kerbin or the mun around kerbin ect..)
  15. Thank you very much for eplaining this and @Kosmo-not yeah someone did explain that but you put it in a MUCH easier to understand fashion and thank you if anyone else has questions please ask i\'ll add them to the op P.S.... so in (a_c = v^2/r) a is acceleration? v is velocity and r is radius but what does (a_c) or (_c) mean??
  16. Okay thank you very much it seems all so stupid that i didnt understand that now -.- one question what is 72.0087755102040816? is it the m/s or something that kerbin will pull my ship back?
  17. okay so F=G(m1*m2/r^2) lets say we have a ship with a mass of X or M1 we have kerbins mass of 5.29*10^22 or M2 and / r^2(our orbit+kebins radius=700,000) and G=6.67*10^-11 witch would so X=10 (6.67e-11)*(10*(5.29e22)/700000^2)=72.0087755102040816 correct?
  18. If you are trying to use the low res texture you must first install the packs then paste the low rest textures over the files and it will just overwrite the textures not the models
  19. Thank you everyone for your help I understand it alot more now but what are each one used for (an example for each if possible (other then f=ma) P.S. if anyone has question please ask them I\'ll add them to the op
  20. well I looked in the case and it seems i have 2 DDR2 slots and 2 DDR 1 slots each with a max of 1gb and i have one stick of ram in it on the ddr2 port it\'s 2gb it\'s like WTF -.- but i bout 2 1 gb ddr2 sticks and they should be here either tomorrow or monday!!!! didn\'t bother but ddr1 ram and what is the difference of ddr1/2/3 ram?
  21. hey from what I\'ve seen there are 2 kinds of ksp players people who build crazy wacky rockets and do it just for fun then the more RP style players who like doing the math and figuring out that type of stuff turns out I\'m the later but being in highschool I don\'t know any of that math really.... so I was thinking why not post on the forums and just have a common post of knowledge for people to ask questions and maybe so awesome smart people to help us answer them? Question: 1 F=G(m1*m2/r^2) first off I\'ve been reading the page about basic astrophysics and it says ' The third law states that if body 1 exerts a force on body 2, then body 2 will exert a force of equal strength, but opposite in direction, on body 1. This law is commonly stated, 'for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction'. In his law of universal gravitation, Newton states that two particles having masses m1 and m2 and separated by a distance r are attracted to each other with equal and opposite forces directed along the line joining the particles. The common magnitude F of the two forces is F=G(m1*m2/r^2) where G is an universal constant, called the constant of gravitation, and has the value 6.67259x10-11 N-m2/kg2 (3.4389x10-8 lb-ft2/slug2). Let\'s now look at the force that the Earth exerts on an object. If the object has a mass m, and the Earth has mass M, and the object\'s distance from the center of the Earth is r, then the force that the Earth exerts on the object is GmM /r2 . If we drop the object, the Earth\'s gravity will cause it to accelerate toward the center of the Earth. By Newton\'s second law (F = ma), this acceleration g must equal (GmM /r2)/m. g=GM/r^2' now I understand everything up until 'If we drop the object, the Earth\'s gravity 'ect... is g=GM/r^2 the same as F=G(m1*m2/r^2) if it\'s not or im missing something basic i\'m sorry -.-... Answered from post 2 through 12
  22. Yes i\'m running KSP 1.5.2 and I thought that\'s what it was just wanted to double check since I only have 1 gb of ram =\'( need to upgrade T.T
  23. So I tryed again to get KSP working with kosmos pack and i thought maybe if i installed one at a time.... i installed Angara it took a while to load so i was like SWEET! installed the base kosmos pack and it got stuck on the rtswinglet or something (basicly the winglet) the load bar is all the way done but it freezes then when i back out of the window it says it crashed.... =( anyway to resolve/anyone else having this issue?
