  1. If you intend making some parts for your mod/plugin you will need Unity and a model designer (like blender or so). And if you want to make a plugin that uses the UI without needing parts, you will need visual basics. Both ways need you to understand the basic capabilities and structure of the game. You might want to check the "add-on request and support" and "add-on development" (sub-)forums as they might contain some useful stuff for taking off with your plugin. OH and good luck, don't give up as you might come up with something good.
  2. The best option is to wait for Unity 5 to come out, and since they should rework the physics to fit in for the new Unity, they should add the re-entry heat/friction and better aerodynamics. If they get the aerodynamics ironed out, the friction on re-entry should be "not too hard" from there. For people who say more planets and kethane-like resources should be next, they should stick with the mods instead, they ain't seeing it in-game for some time.
  3. LOL i don't even understand the controversy on this subject. Don't mod KSP if you don't understand how mods works xD. Do know that they work inside KSP and not out of it, thus they can't get any information out of the KSP folder (I'm talking about mods, not plugins, totally different). ModStatistics gets information about your OS, specification of your PC. And if a mod crashes it gets the circumstances under which it crashed, it can't get your passwords or hack into your files.
  4. The US has a plan to build a moon base by 2025 (this happened since they discovered water in the craters in 2009). But China would win the race, they are most probably planning the mission already.
  5. Granted. A huge asteroid hits the base. They blame you. I wish updates where faster for KSP .
