1. I also thought a vertical ascend would be more efficient, because then you don't have to raise your periapsis. I thought it would be especially more efficient when your engine has high thrust so that the burn time is very short. Well, I guess I was wrong. Again what learned :)
2. Happy KSP-day. Remembers me of the time when I bought the game. It was quite similar: I played the demo for one day and the next day I bought the full version. Normally it takes weeks for me to decide wether I should buy something. But I haven't regretted it for one second.
3.
Hello, I was playing ksp for a long time. After 1.0.5 came out, I have started a new career. I usually take the kerbin world firsts record missions as a main storyline. Everything started normally with these contracts: Launch first vessel Orbit kerbin Flyby minmus and mun Orbit minmus and mun And then came none of them. So I took some random contracts in the kerbin system. Waiting for the next contract, like land on the mun, like it usually came up. After a few days came "land on eve" I'm sure there should have been more missions before. What did I do wrong?
I don't know if this is still happening in 1.0.5, but: Did one of your crafts go interplanetary (leave Kerbins SOI)? Because then the contract system realizes that the Kerbin System is already too boring for you and you want to go to other planets.
4.
I'm also having trouble. I'm at 100km above kerbin incline = 89.80 degrees I've got power and solar panels and a com when I click orbital survey after it's opened nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
I've had the same problem after "updating" my career to 1.0.5 But that's not the only thing that broke. I guess I'll just start a new career once enough mods support 1.0.5
5.
Sometimes I just call it The Game :D
Oh, now I get it. So that's what Queen is singing about.
6. Thanks for that advice, man! I will definitely try that out. Now, if only the NCS-Adapter would contain monoprop ....
7. Yes, the real question should be if it is overpowered for a Mk3 STS. And I don't even know if it is. Maybe it just works perfectly when only using only one Kickback SRB on each site. I'll definitely try that out.
8. I agree that it is overpowered. I was expecting the Vector to be a medium-sized Skipper (650 kN, maybe a little bit more) with more gimbal. I think they should make it less powerful, and therefore add more powerful large-sized SRB's. Because right now I have to use multiple SRB's for my STS-like craft (didn't change it to work with the new vector engine yet).
9. MOAR STRUTS! When I have a really long thin rocket that's very wobbly I put Cubic Octagonal Struts on the Side of the rocket and connect them with normal struts. But for the case of the engine being smaller than the tank, 3 struts from the lower tank to the upper tank (the small engine is inbetween) should be enough.
10. Why? If it would turn out to be aliens, I would say we should listen for signals from that star 24/7. But I agree, that we shouldn't send them signals.
11. Robotic spiders are going to send us into space? Space is going to send us robotic spiders? Spiders are going to send robotic humans into space? Robots are spidering space into us?
12. I would have guessed something with a XOR gate. EDIT: Just tried a solution with XOR on paper and it also works. But it's much more complicated than the solution given in the video.
13. I will only use F9 when a bug appeared, and not everytime I did something stupid, because I didn't pay enough attention. (I'm already praying for all the poor Kerbals that will die.) And I will play in Hard* Mode and try to make the program very cheap and reuseable from the beginning. In my current carreer mode there where dark times where I didn't bother about reuseability and then almost got bankrupt. EDIT: *I meant Moderate. I won't play Hard Mode, because I fear the Kraken.
14. Sounds like you made it to Duna for the first time. Congratulations! If your future mission should include landing, then the next step would be Ike and Gilly and after that Dres or Jool's Moons. Eve is probably the hardest thing in KSP to land on and get back. So right now don't even think about getting back from Eve's surface.
15. When you read LEO and think it means Low Eve Orbit instead of Low Earth Orbit.
16. Maybe they're like Tadpoles. First they live in the water, and then they transform to Kerbals as we know them.
17. I never really cared about debris and now there's quite some in LKO. But I never went into any. Space is big.
18. Very cool idea. I had another idea. I was thinking: "Isn't a SRB nothing else than a big sepratron itself?" Now I have some crafts where I seperate the booster just a second before they burn out. That way they leave the rocket in the other direction. Worked fine everytime for me now.
19. Back in 0.25 I landed a Kerbal on Eve and returned him back home. The landing was near the sea (not on top of a mountain) and I didn't use a spaceplane. I used a rocket. Mods used: Ferram Aerospace and DeadlyReentry
20. Well, would you still call it a STS, when it has a heatshield, a probe core, some rcs and lot's of parachutes on the external tank?
21. Same here. But now that I've read your post I've sworn to myself that the next mission will be without F9! Well Gilma Kerman is dead now and Nathy and Hading Kerman are both stranded in an orbit around Eeloo with only their EVA-suits.
