  1. Make an ion-powered skychair that can take a single kerbalnaut from LKO to anywhere.
  2. In any new career mode save file, my first flight is generally a parachute, a command pod, and a solid booster rocket titled "Can of BOOM"
  3. More than anything else, I want to see KSP Lego and KSP: The Board Game (ideally designed by Vlaada Chvatil; his "Galaxy Trucker" already feels almost like it's set in a higher-tech interstellar version of the Kerbal civilization).
  4. I usually try to use the contracts as a way to get paid for things I was going to do anyway. When part-testing contracts are the only ones available, I try to collect a bunch of them that have the same target location (e.g. all "landed at Kerbin" or all "in orbit around Kerbin" or whatever) and build one big ugly probe with all the relevant parts so I can fulfill all of them in one go and then recover what's left.
  5. To take this in another direction: I'd like some larger solid boosters as well. I have a habit of building huge interplanetary starships, and putting them into orbit almost always involves not eight booster rockets but eight clusters of nine booster rockets each. Eight huge booster rockets would be much nicer to the part count.
  6. KSP is what happens when a bunch of mutant dwarves from Dwarf Fortress discover rocketry and try to play Lunar Lander in real life.
  7. Dres's canyon is pretty neat, if a little drab. I recently landed a rover there with tiny rocket jets on the sides so I could do Evel Kermevel jumps off the cliffs.
  8. I've learned so much about orbital mechanics and rocketry (deriving the rocket equation from scratch was fun) and developed a much better intuition for forces and momentum in general. I teach physics and math for a living, so KSP as a hobby synergizes remarkably well with my job! My knowledge from teaching physics makes me better at Kerbal, and my experience in Kerbal inspires me with ideas for examples to use in class.
  9. Planets and moons are for those who lack inspiration; we must make it our mission to colonize the sun!
  10. You mean Descent? Probably the second best computer game ever.
  11. Haha, yeah! And maybe the next version could have a "click here to buy a $100 model" button!
  12. I would like the ability to distinguish between small uncrewed machines that are currently en route to somewhere and small uncrewed machines that are in the stable orbit where they'll be forever. "Probe" vs "satellite" would be reasonable, I think. The ability to sort the Tracking Station craft list (alphabetically, by type, by launch date, by number of crew, by remaining fuel, by mass, etc.) would also be tremendously useful.
  13. Should also be wolf howls as ambient noise when landing on Mun, because as any fool knows, wolves howl at the Mun--so clearly they should be heard by anyone on the Mun.
  14. That would be useful. On a similar note, I'd really like the option to control EVA jetpacks with the same controls I use to rotate and translate ships with RCS (WASDQE and IJKLHN).
  15. Some months ago I embarked on a project to put a small satellite (I called the design "Wayfarer") in orbit around each celestial body so I could instantly fulfill any "Science from space near..." contract for free. Most of these I renamed Mohfarer, Evefarer, Dresfarer, etc. once they reached their destination... but instead of Ikefarer I called that one Eisenhower.
  16. I only noticed a few weeks ago that the trucks in the VAB sometimes drive onto an elevator, go way way way up, and drive around on the upper catwalks.
  17. Big helmets make them look smarter so they can mentally intimidate any aliens they might encounter.
  18. Kerbal Bridge Constructor would be a hilarious crossover sequel.
  19. What do you mean by spinning at the speed of light? Light speed is a translational speed (in meters per second), not a rotational speed (in radians per second).
  20. Could this perhaps be used to finally complete all those "test launch stability enhancer on Minmus" contracts??
