Thanks for the guide, DMagic. As always, your effort is much appreciated. Also, that new possibly-upcoming feature to see all planetoids from the KSC (or from anywhere?) is great! Just to clear my conscience: Although you said "the process will basically work the same way" for Kethane, I'm right to think we don't need the ORSX pack, stated on the "Required Compoents", right? To me, it doesn't make sense having them since they don't have any relations. If so, then can I assume the "Required Components" topic is actually the "SCANsat-Karbonite Required Components"? Thanks again!

Today, I recreated the Curiosity Rover mission. Well, sorta. The rover itself can hardly be called a remake. My main concern here was the capsule (heat shield and backshell). That's what I spent most time making. Everything else was just mashed together in 5 minutes.

I noticed I'm spending way too much time in the VAB finding solutions, and no time at all actually flying these solutions. I think this post also fits the KSP Sins confession thread. Anyway, today I found a pretty satisfying (though probably not original) way to fit a small rover payload inside a rocket. But I got my brain in a loop, and I can't stop thinking I'm missing something else to figure out. If I even make any sense. I need some sleep.

How come drjonez hasn't been mentioned yet? Although he hadn't update anything in a good while, his videos teached me some great things about KSP. And his communication is very easy going; I like that a lot.

I finally decided to give this mod a try, and... THANK YOU so much for this mod, everyone who works/worked in this!

Tried that, no luck. As seen on the screenshot, The Kethane marker is turned on, the red scan line is refreshing up, but there's no difference between the bottom and the upper side of that red line. (there's no 'kethane grid'.) Also, no "kethane" data is shown when I rover my cursor over the map. P.S.: Note that Module Manager is not installed in this version, as I'm not trying to use the SCANsat scanning feature in the Kethane Scanner. Instead, I'm using the SCANsat altimetry scanner to scan for Kethane. If this was a terrible mistake, please forgive my dumbness once again. Anyway, as said before, I'm not asking for support to an older version. I was just trying see if it works in that older version, while we don't have a Kethane update. Thank you very much again for your patience and for clarifying things! You rock, DMagic!

Kethane Pack 0.9.2 - New cinematic trailer! - 1.0 compatibility update
Kowgan replied to Majiir's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Majiir, I've used the Search Thread function to look for that bug report, but found nothing recent. We have a discussion on the SCANsat official thread, reporting that we're unable to scan Kethane using the SCANsat mod. As you can see on the link above, according to Dmagic's answer, the problem seems to be coming from the newest GeodesicGrid.dll. "(...) there is just something weird happening with the Geodesic Grid assembly that prevents SCANsat from accessing some of the methods it needs." That said, I'd like to ask you if would it be possible to verify that .dll file and hopefully fix that bug, if it's confirmed, for your next update? Thanks a bunch! -
[1.1.2] Station Science (v2.0: New models by SpeedyB)
Kowgan replied to ethernet's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
IMHO, that's a great suggestion, TheBedla. Even though I don't know if small parts (other than the experiments themselves) are in Ethernet's willing-to-do list, or if he's willing to push the mod in that directiion, I think this would be a nice feature to have. -
As you said before, "Soonâ„¢" you "Might" think about the possibilites of making it. So obviously, I'm not taking this as a "I'm definitely doing it" statement, let alone making it identical to the example above. But IF you ever create anything in the general idea of that example, your effort will be much appreciated, no matter what result you get.

[1.0.x] Protractor Continued - Rendezvous Plugin v2.5.1 (May 15th, 2015)
Kowgan replied to Addle's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thanks for the update once more! Nice new feature, but I could swear we had it already. Simply smash that "Protractor" folder into your "Gamedata" folder. -
Thanks for letting us know, nli2work! That's much appreciated, really.

Greetings! I guess this is one of those cases where "If I knew how to model, I'd do it myself". But as I don't know, I'll throw the idea here, and if someone would like to see this in game, that would be great! I'd be more than thankful to have and use it. I recently played "Gods Will be Watching", and at some point of the game, we come across this beautiful one-man ship design: Bigger resolution, in video: http://youtu.be/i1gPI9PlrjA?t=4m6s I was amazed by this design. And I think it would be awesome to have a corresponding model of this to, say, fly by the Joolian moons, from a mothership. Wouldn't it? So, yes. I'd like to request some modeler who's willing to create KSP parts, to create something like this! A one-kerman manned vessel, with a big transparent glass window and a retractable shield for atmospheric escape/reentries. Would that be somehow possible? Thanks for reading it. I'm glad enough to share this part idea into the KSP world. P.S.: nli2work created some similar transparent pods, but although they're AWESOME, they're not missile-rocket shaped, nor they have a retractable shield! Otherwise, I'd be gladly using his modparts.

Thank you for the detailed answer! That clarified a lot. --Edit-- I've been messing with my .24.2 backup copy of KSP, which has the old Kethane 0.8.8.1 and SCANsat v7rc4. But even in that version, Kethane doesn't seems to work correctly with SCANsat. I'm not asking for support to that old version, but I'd like to know; Was that Kethane problem occurring since KSP 0.24.2? Also, something I noticed: After some minutes of testing around, I decided to install Karbonite 0.4.1 on that same KSP .24.2. And that added a new button to my Kethane scanner (!) : "Start Kethane Scan". And that was the only way I found to activate the Kethane grids in the SCANsat's big map. Everything else had no effect. And even though, no Kethane data was being actually gathered by that scanner. Although it created a line over where the satellite orbited, no Kethane was found. Like if the body had no kethane at all. At the same time, running the default Kethane scanner on the classic way seemed to work right, detecting the mineral (creating the grid around the planet, on map view). But both scans won't sync with each other. Uh, maybe I should bring this discussion to the Kethane official thread, instead?

Hello! As I never had the chance to thank DMagic for the mod, Thank You! Now, I'm curious. According to the v8 release post and the Known Issues notes, the Kethane integration is not functional. So, as I never had the chance to test the Kethane integration before v8, I'd like to know: How exactly does that Kethane integration used to work? Should I assume that we would have to activate both Kethane and Altimetry scans, but with the advantage that we could leave the probe scanning in the background, while controlling other vessels/KSC, and the Kethane would still be mapped? Thanks!

How in the World do you Dock?
Kowgan replied to PK_Starstorm's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The youtuber DrJonez has some s, simplifying docking a lot. I learnt the procedures through him; recommended. -
Maybe we can pack a bathtub, throw it at Duna and summon Samara Kerman. Ta-da, you have water in Duna. Lots of water.
-
It might be The Ring. You should stay safe for about 7 days, just in case.

Today, I sat with my KSC staff around the big round table in the Admin Office to discuss our next big move. The main topic was, "should we hurry and take the first Kerbal in an interplanetary mission, or should we study the planets a little more before daring to go where no Kerbal has ever been?". By one side - Led by Jebediah -, the enthusiasts want to fly to Eve in a big mission with 11 Kerbals, in order to set up a science station orbiting Eve. No landings are expected. In the other side, I defend and try to convince those Kerbals that it's too early for such big misson, and the maximum we can do is wait for Duna's next transfer window, and send one - or a few - probes out there to scan the planet. Sending a Kerbal out of Kerbin' SOI is a big step, and must be done with maximum care. I don't think we know the space around us well enough yet to launch that Eve mission. But in any case, this discussion is yet to warm up and I'm expecting a whole bunch of arguments involving "Snacks" and "Boosters", trying to convince each other side. We shall see what will happen.

@Francois424: If you use Mechjeb, you can enable options to show your current biome and the current surface biome, to keep you informed.

Thanks, folks. Really appreciate it. Smysha, I don't have the calculations for the required dV's while using FAR. This is all stock, and all based on metaphor's chart. But this is all open source, until any of the original creators decide to protect their work and prevent us from editing it . I've released the master file in the OP, so anyone can edit the numbers there. So, if you have any the dV calculations for FAR, I - or even you - could make a FAR version of it.

As said in the subtitles, "Flight time is based on 10 years of average flight possibilities simulated on Alexmoon's Launch Window Planner, from day 1." I've decided to do it because someone said they weren't satisfied with the flight time specified in the previous chart. I decided to run a simulation and get the average results from it, as shown in the picture above, but I haven't tested it at all. Anyway, that was my approach of showing the flight time projections. If you have a better suggestion, I'd love to read. (maybe I should take the shortest time shown by default on Alexmoon's planner? e.g. Kerbin Jool gives me a minimum flight time of 561 days. Should I use that, instead?) Thank you very much for the highlight on the Drawing Board! I'm glad to be useful there!

Thanks, SunChaser. The compliment is much appreciated. I personally would save the image to my desktop and open it whenever I play KSP. Although, I don't think this is a case of stickying the thread. I guess the idea is just to spread the map, so more people can make use of it. Maybe putting it into the KSP wiki would be enough? I don't know.

@BJ Quest: Bad, bad rover. That reminds me of Christine, the killer car.
