  1. I was wondering if some of you, would be able to give any tips on how to make a space station core and the design of an interplanetary explorer?, I've had a nosey and I haven't been able to find anything describing the method for either of these. I know about creating the necessary delta v to get to orbit, transfer and return however I'm hitting the problem of designing. I've used asparagus staging to reach the Mun and Minmus but I think trying to go further afield is daunting. Would it be better to build in stages and assemble in orbit, or build in one stage? if so what designs would be applicable and cost effective, I'm not looking at using other peoples craft more get a basic handle on things so I can at some stage design my own competently. Going back to the space station what would be an ideal core to begin with? Cheers.
  2. I've been back through my tech tree to every single stage and unfortunately I am unable to find or research the parts from the mod, it's just showing the parts that have already been researched or due to be researched.
  3. Not been able to find anything regarding an issue I'm experiencing. I've installed remote tech 2, and carried on using my career save the problem is, in Career mode I can't for the life of me access the parts. I'm currently quite far into the science tech tree and I've got Field science, Advanced unmanned Tech aswell as Electronics researched and none of the parts are being listed in either Science or Utility tabs, however in Sandbox mode I'm able to access everything, I assumed I'd installed wrong however Sandbox shows I haven't.
  4. Thanks for the information guys, looks like I'm going to have to start sending out re-fuelling mission's shortly, I always ended up staging off as soon as I began my manouvers which probably explains a lot of my frustration when probes didn't act as planned. Looks like I'm going to be rethinking my entire space strategy.
  5. I'm heading off to work shortly so I'll not be able to reply for a while, however I have a couple of questions that I haven't been able to find any answer too. My first question regarding the Xenon fuel, Is there at this moment in time anyway to re-fuel a probe or are they generally one way tickets to where ever I wish to send them? I've built my first one and I'm looking at launching it to Duna, however I'm concerned with the 700 litres of Xenon fuel I may not be able to get there and orbit sufficiently with the fuel I have. Secondly I was wondering at which stage do you tend to separate the launch stage and the probe? would this be done on an orbit of Kerbin or during an escape trajectory?. Many thanks for any advice.
  6. I haven't ran into that issue yet as I can just about make a stable craft, I just can't for the life of me make a rendezvous, I still feel bad using mechjeb to dock but it takes care of a frustrating problem and has helped in refuelling my Eve craft between Minmus and Mun for trials.
  7. Sent the Ksp Munster and Minster to trial out designs for a first orbital research and fuelling station for each moon, with the aim of using each as a pitstop for further missions into the Kerbol system. Returned with a sizeable amount of science that's being used to research further scientific and Electrical development.
  8. My biggest issue is my fear of Docking, which I allow mechjeb to do mainly because for the last 67 times - Yes I counted! I either run out of fuel, get so close before realising I'm on an escape or sub orbital trajectory or generally burn far to quickly and miss said station/kerbal/craft. Everything else - Planetry/orbital/mun transfers I am able to do with a reasonable degree of success. Heck I can land and return on my own accord with my eyes shut, however docking and Rendezvousing remains an elusive catch. Watched mechjeb the last 10 times and still mess up.
  9. @soulsource, thanks for that I had no idea makes my mission planning a little easier knowing that, I assumed Jeb had snuck off before the launch phase and left a card board cut out - explains the silence mission control received. My return from Mun proved tricky, however with sheer luck and soiled pants Bill safely managed to arrive back at kerbin, although he discovered hitting the atmosphere at speed could result in being bounced back on his way to Mun. Not wanting to miss out and feeling guilty about diving out of the Mun mission as well as faking his death Jeb decided to control the Minmus mission (sources say he also wanted to fly as close to kerbin's ground as possible without actually crashing a feat he managed thrice at little over 35km above Kerbin) using the Munster which shockingly proved to be a success. I also found landing and taking off from Minmus a lot easier than the Mun. Something which means that Minmus has been ear marked as potential bases for deeper exploration into the Kerbol system. 100 days after setting off, Jeb returned a hero having successfully landed on Minmus, collecting soil samples, conducting various experiments and the occasional oo and aahing. Quite pleased with the Minmus mission achieved orbit, landed and returned on the first run, either I'm actually getting good at this rocket malarkey or the Kerbol god has decided to give me a helping hand.... oddly no one has seen Dean kermin for 103 days.... Jeb protests his innocence!
  10. I'm not sure if this is a bug, or Jebadiah returning as the Messiah of the kerbal race, (loaded a prototype space craft to practice delicate landings and guess who inhabited the cockpit? that's right... Jeb!! me thinks that the naming is too coincidental), I managed to land on the Mun with the aforementioned Jeb. Bob hadn't looked particularly too pleased about that the fact Jeb returned from death to lead the KSP Munster to Mun Glory, especially when the Munster had his name written in bold letters on the commander's seat. Jeb is now in Mun orbit, frantically trying to calm Bob down whilst debating if he should return to the Kerbal and face the inevitable blasting from Bob. Jeb looking back at Kerbol
  11. For the first time ever I managed to leave Kerbin orbit and intercept with the Mun in the career mode. Too a painstakingly long time and many a tear were shed but by the Kerbals I managed it, No one died on route..... Bob Kerman happened to be volunteered for the next mission, however his apprehension to go to the Mun is apparent.....
